Using multiple windows

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hi,

How can I use a private sub from one form in another? So I have a private sub called 'PasteFromClipboard' in my main form, and I want to activate that sub from another.

How do I do it in WPF?! Normally in Window2 I would just type Window1.PasteFromClipboard() but it doesn't work!

Thanks!

Windows Forms: Give Your .NET-based Application a Fast and Responsive UI with Multiple Threads

If your application performs any non-UI processing on the thread that controls the user interface, it may make the app seem slow and sluggish, frustrating users. But writing multithreaded apps for Windows has long been restricted to C++ developers. Now with the .NET Framework, you can take advantage of multiple threads in C# to control the flow of instructions in your programs and isolate the UI thread for a fast and snappy user interface. This article shows you how. Also, it discusses the pitfalls of multiple threads and presents a framework for safe concurrent thread execution.

Multiple Windows Authentication options on login after Web App restore

Hi I have a question regarding SharePoint Foundation 2010 and backup / restore jobs... I'm doing nightly farm backups using PowerShell: Add-PsSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell Set-location $home Backup-SPFarm -Directory \\same-server\***** -BackupMethod Differential This morning I decided to try and restore a single web application, just to make sure it works. In Central Administration I selected the latest farm backup and then selected the node for the Web Application and choose restore (using option: Same configuration) because it's the same server. Restore process went fine, no failure messages, and I can see that it has restored the content I deleted for testing. BUT when I enter the site. I'm presented with a Login page (that you would see if you have also configured Forms Authentication for the same zone, which I have not) and the drop down box show two options: "Windows Authentication" and "Windows Authentication". Both let me use windows credentials to login so basically the login page is pointless and it wasn't there before. I should note: The Web Application was and is configured to use Claims Based Authentication and for Windows Authentication: Kerberos. Nothing for forms. Default sign in page. And I was never presented with this redundant login page before the restore. Anyone knows why this could be happening and how to solve it?? Than

How to use single windows service to host multiple WCF Services instances (Each instance of WCF is i

How to use single windows service to host multiple WCF Services. I have a mutiple instance of same WCF service in different folder, each instance has unique service name and port. WCFService has reference to Reg-Free COM Reference, i have Native.WCFService.manifest in each folder. Ex: WCFService1 is in "C:\WCFService01\WCFService.dll, Native.OCWCFService.manifest, OCWCFService.dll.config WCFService2 is in "C:\WCFService02\WCFService.dll, Native.OCWCFService.manifest, OCWCFService.dll.config Now i need host above services from single Windows Service. I am trying to create AppDomain for each above WCFService Instance from Windows Service and then host. Its working if i register COM dll in the server using regsvr32, but when i un register COM dll, i am getting unable to load COM component .... This looks like AppDomain is not loading COM DLL and Manifest files. Its looks strange but we need it in this way because we have production and test environment in the same server. Everything works fine if create a seperate Windows Service for each WCFService Instance, but my manager wants single Windows Service :). Any help whould be really appreciated.  ravi kumar reddy

Sharepoint 2007 Upload Multiple Documents error on Windows Vista

Hi all, I am having an issue uploading multiple documents from a share using the "Upload Multiple Documents" on the toolbar in a document library. The user experiencing this problem has a Windows Vista machine that recently replaced XP. They have mapped shares that they use. The shares work fine in windows explorer, but when you click the + next to the share through the "Upload Multiple Documents" function on sharepoint, the machine thinks for a while, then removes the + and shows no documents. Anyone know why this is happening?

Cannot upload multiple documents from DFS network drive with Windows 7

Hi,   We have a Moss2007 installation with SP2 and CU update October 2009. All our clients have a network drive to a DFS link. We use XP, Vista and Windows7 clients   Our DFS structure: DFS-Namespace\A LOT OF DFS-Links\   Problem: When a Windows 7 user want to upload multiple documents (Doc Library menu->Upload->Upload Multiple documents), he cannot expand the DFS network drive. This problems is only on Windows7 and not on XP or Vista.   I think that Windows 7 has another interpretation about the DFS links because when we try to upload multiple documents from a network drive that is linked directly to a DFS folder, you see all the folders and documents when expanded.     \\DFS-Namespace\DFS-Links   -> Not working \\DFS-Namespace\DFS-Link\folder   -> No problem     When you go directly to the network drive though Windows explorer, you see that Windows 7 show a folder with shortcut icon instead of a normal folder icon for a DFS LINK. Windows Vista show’s  an normal folder icon for a DFS Link. Maybe not relevant, it ‘s only a remark.     Someone any idée?   Regards,

is session shared within multiple browser windows (not tab)

Hi guys,

Really confused on this... let me explain the scenario.

i have a application on .net 2.0 .

once user is logged in, various session variables are stored for that users profile information (normal stuff). when user open a browser window and after doing some operation, closes the browser window directly.

and then reopen new window and try to access homepage of same application... he is presented with profile of the user which was logged in before (and widnow was shut down)

is this behaviour normal and common across all IE versions?

this behaviour is not consistent.... sometimes, its showing homepage of old user and sometimes its  showing login page (as if session is invalidated)

is there any way to abandon all session if browser window is closed (apart from capturing browser window close event)

hope i get some replies on this...

WCF on Windows 7 "Multiple requestedPrivileges" problem.

Hi all,
I host a simple WCF library in a winform application using the following code:
...
                    ServiceHost service = new ServiceHost(typeof(Distributor), new Uri(newAddress));
                    ServiceMetadataBehavior smb = new ServiceMetadataBehavior();
                    smb.HttpGetEnabled = true;
                    service.Description.Behaviors.Add(smb);

                    service.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(IDistributor),
                        new BasicHttpBinding(), string.Empty);

                    System.ServiceModel.Channels.Binding mexBinding =
                        MetadataExchangeBindings.CreateMexHttpBinding();
                    service.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(IMetadataExchange), mexBinding, "mex");
...

When I run it on windows xp sp3, it works fine, and when I turn to windows 7 in administrator account, it also works fine, but when I use some other Administrator account (in administrators group but not administrator) it throw an exception 'AddressAccessDeniedException'. I searched this on the web, and it says add a manifest file like this with the name as <application name>.exe.manifest would sovle my problem:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-micro

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Windows Service Applications Tutorials

You can easily create services by creating an application that is installed as a service. For example, suppose you want to monitor performance counter data and react to threshold values. You could write a Windows Service application that listens to the performance counter data, deploy the application, and begin collecting and analyzing data.

Serving Silverlight Apps from Windows Mobile

Even if mobile dev is not my every day work, thanks to the .Net Compact Framework, it's still .Net programming.

Here is the scenario:

You come back home, you have a windows mobile phone wifi capable and you want to quickly get access to your phone pictures from your home network.
You just activate the Wifi, run my app and then browse to the provided link from any computer on the network.
