We come across an error stating "An unknown user profile error has occurred. Try recreating this user profile or updating
this user profile from the directory service to resolve this problem".
This scenario is observed only for a particular account. The User has got 3 profiles with different accounts.
Problem seems to be only on Production server while on PreProduction & Test server its working fine.
We have even tried deleting the user profile and recreate, but still the account is not accepting any profile changes. Also checked in the logs files but it didn't give any clue for the issue.
Is there any specific reason for this behaviour?
Hope this is the place for sharepoint gurus?
I upgraded MOSS2007/WSS3 to SP2 and since then I have been unable to get My Site to create new sites for existing domain users.
Some of the domain users created their My Site before the SP2 upgrade and they still work. We just cannot create new My Sites for existing domain users.
Now when we try to create a My Site we get this error:
"There has been an error creating the personal site. Contact your site administrator for more information."
I checked the event logs and usually no error is recorded when this happens so sharepoint does not even give me a breadcrumb (thanks!).
However, on one occassion I did get an event message after fiddling here and there and many attempts at trying to create a My Site, hooray! See below for all the glorious details of the event message, but the basic error is:
"User cannot be found".
I have checked the My Site settings of shared services (SSP1), veiwed user profiles, all the domain users are imported. So I have no idea why when creating a My Site it fails?
I have searched many forums and although they get the same error it seems to be for different reasons so the solutions don't help my situation.
Is there somewhere in Sharepoint that these domain users need to exist? Would I be able to c
I've noticed in several environments that the UPS service stops every now and then. All I can do is go an restart it in Central Administration, and it usually retains all synchronization connection settings and works fine again. I've been too busy to examine
the cause though.
Does this happen for others as well? What is the usual cause for it to stop?
So I am having this issue with SharePoint Central Administration. I am not able to get into many of the services within CA due to the above error. I have narrowed it down (I'm almost positive) to a user who was an administrator on the managed metadata service
and is no longer with us and was removed from the AD. I have asked to have the account added back in, of course, we don't have the SID history. It was added and I used the stsadm cmdlet migrateuser -ignoresidhistory and I get the same exact error. I've tried
this logged on as several diffeerent administrators including the domain administrator account and have received the same error.
Anyone have any ideas?
