Crawl Log Error "500 Internal server Error"

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

We have just recently moved/rebuilt our SharePoint farm in a virtual environment. And everything is working for except the search. The crawl log is giving the following error:-
Error in the Site Data Web Service. (*** Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with the error message: -- <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"/> <title>500 - Internal server error.</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- body{margin:0;font-size:.7em;font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica,)

I have tried putting failed request tracing on the web server but it never logs a 500 error. I've also tried changing the crawl account and the web application server that is being used for the crawl and get the same error. Has anyone seen this error before in the the crawl log?

RDL Rendering (500 Internal Server) Error at Sharepoint Integrated Reporting Service

I have a serious problem that cannot be solved by googling around the keywords below:
sharepoint, moss 2007, reporting service, ssrs 2008, rendering, internal server error, ....

The error is;

"An error occurred during client rendering. The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. "

Everything is O.K.;

* When I render the report from the REPORTSERVER (http://localhost/ReportServer)
* When the reports are scheduled to be sent by the reporting service (planned via MOSS 2007)

But if I open (render) the RDL file from the sharepoint REPORTS LIBRARY interface, all of the reports fail with that internal error message above.

It is weird also that parametrized reports are displayed without errors although the parameters are queried from a sql dataset. But I got the error when rendering the report after I've chosen a parameter  and order "apply/report"...

Possible causes how I met that error may be;

After I have installed (then uninstalled) AJAX extensions
After I have re-configured IIS Web Service Extensions list items

Possible solution alternatives I've found;

I've found a solution on MSDN replying a similar issue with an ideal cause of the error but an evreka answer but no sol

MS Message Queueing 4.0 HTTP Support - 500 Internal Server Error

Hi all,   I've been trying to set up MSMQ 4.0 with HTTP Support to allow one of our partners to send messages to us. However, whenever I make any call to the msmq page I get an internal server error 500 (See below). My platform is Windows 2008 SE (64-bit) running as a DC (though MSMQ is running in workgroup mode).   Any hints on what might be causing this or how I can investigate further? Are there any log files for the ISAPI extension, or the MQISE.dll, or the MSMQ service that might help me shed light on this problem?   I've seen blogs about an issue with MSMQ 3.0 where the machine name can't be 15 characters long, is this still the case with MSMQ 4.0?   The error details are as below,     Server Error in Application "WWW.MYDOMAIN.COM/MSMQ" Internet Information Services 7.0 HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, so it cannot be displayed. Crawl Log error: Access Denied

Hi,I've been using MOSS for a few months. Previously, I've concentrating on developing some specific webpart, so I didn't really test the standard features like search, etc.Just yesterday, I do a search which should return some results, but it shows none. So I checked the Crawl Logs and it shows this 1 error:====https://intranet.companyname.comAccess is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)====I only have 1 Content Source, which is the default "Local Office SharePoint Server sites". The Defaul Content Access Account is a special account created for the crawer. I've tried remote desktop to the MOSS server, opening IE, and try to access that URL using the crawl account, and I can successfully logged in.Any hints on where to look for the problem?Regards.

(500) Internal Server Error

I was given a new Win 7 machine for development and converted our project to it.  Everything is working fine except posting a an XML from to localhost.  I'm getting the famous (500) Internal Server Error. (previous machine was Vista...)  I had also upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010.There is nothing in the event log, and the IIS log shows that the web server does get the hit:  2010-09-15 15:03:13 W3SVC1 MYCOMPUTER ::1 POST /xml/MRPImport.asmx/UploadForecast - 81 - ::1 HTTP/1.1 - - - localhost:81 500 0 0 280Below is the code that was working perfectly fine until the upgrade.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks.Dim oWeb As New System.Net.WebClient()oWeb.Headers.Add("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded")Dim bytArguments As Byte() = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(strXMLData)Dim bytRetData As Byte() = oWeb.UploadData(ToURL, "POST", bytArguments)

500 Internal Server Error

Reports sporadically fail to run.  Users are returned a "(500) Internal Server Error" message. The following appears in the report server logs: library!ReportServer_0-1!af4!09/16/2010-15:29:04:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database., ; library!ReportServer_0-1!af4!09/16/2010-15:29:04:: w WARN: Transaction rollback was not executed connection is invalid library!ReportServer_0-1!af4!09/16/2010-15:29:04:: e ERROR: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Transaction (Process ID 139) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. 500 Internal Server error on ListData.svc

Hello,

When trying to add a new datasource to SharePoint designer to display blog posts, I ran into an error. Designer tells me "the server returned a non-specific error when trying to get data from the data source". I browsed to the url (http://site.domain.com/blog/_vti_bin/ListData.svc), that seemed to be working fine. But when I browse to http://site.domain.com/blog/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/Posts, it throws an 500 internal server error.

What could be going on and how can I find some more debug info on it? I tried modifying the web.config in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\ISAPI to give some more debug info (since ListData.svc is in there), but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Edit: I also tried adding the svc reference in VS2010, but that errors out too with a complaint about missing authentication. I have no idea where that's coming from.

SharePoint 2010 search crawl error: The SharePoint item being crawled returned an error when request

SharePoint 2010 search crawl error:
The SharePoint item being crawled returned an error when requesting data from the web service. ( Error from SharePoint site: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. )

This error is for both document and folder. The document and folder were created/uploaded via SharePoint User Interface only. Later these doc/folder were deleted. And we found the search result showing the documents that were deleted from the doc library resulting in '404 page not found error' upon clicking. Ofcourse we did an incremental crawl after  deleting the file/folder. The error is same even after full crawl.

Environment details:
1 server - WFE role
1 server - App server role
1 server - index server role

Another information if helpful: We used some third party tool to migrate few sample data in the same server but on different site collection, different content database but on the same web application. The tool migrated the data and set unique permissions too for the migrated files. We tried deleting them via SharePoint interface and that files too gave a similar error!

Search Crawl status throwing error

Hi,

We installed MOSS on our clients machine and Search has been problematic from the getgo.

When we have performed a forced restart on the osearch service (http://bruteforcesharepoint.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html), within the next couple of hours the crawler status wil be Error. But, search at this point is still working. Indexing basically stops and event errors are thrown in the event logs, but searching is still possible.

Here are the symptoms:

  • the Crawl status is 'Error'
  • /ssp/admin/_layouts/searchsspsettings.aspx (Search Settings page) is throwing a HTTP 403 error : The website declined to show this webpage.
  • I can still get to the Search Administration, and when I go to view the Content Sources or view the crawl logs specifically, I get the same 403 error.

When I try to 'Reset all crawled content', that is when Search dies. I get the message an exception error message.

When I try to stop the Office SharePoint Search service in Central Admin, it hangs in the Stopping state. It'll only come out of this if I go through the task manger and manually force the process to stop and then start it again using the stsadm -o osearch -action start -role index command then search starts again. And I have to reset the crawled content and perform a f

Opening SharePoint List Attachments - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

We are getting "HTTP 500 - internal server error" upon opening list attachments. The list attachments are added programmatically to the list item.

This doesn't happen for all the items in the list, but only for few items.

There is no error in the SharePoint logs and the event viewer.

Has anyone encountered this issue/error?

Crawl Error Help

I'm noticing a lot of crawl errors with the generic error message "Error in the Site Data Web Service." Most of the URLs throwing the errors are actually plain text 404 pages rather than HTML. The whole page is simply "404 NOT FOUND". Can the iFilters not handle plain text? The 404 NOT FOUND is present in the HTTP headers. Would changing the 404 page to HTML correct this problem?

Opening SharePoint List Attachments - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Hi All,

We are programmatically attaching documents/attachments to the list item through a web-part.

I'm using the below code to accomplish this. (Fileupload control is rendered in the webpart)

Stream inputStream = this.fileUploadCtrl.PostedFile.InputStream;

byte[] buffer = new byte[inputStream.Length];

inputStream.Read(buffer, 0, (int)inputStream.Length);

inputStream.Close();

spListItem.Attachments.Add(this.fileUploadCtrl.PostedFile.FileName, buffer);

spListItem.SystemUpdate(false);

The attachments are getting added fine. But in some cases, only the file is attached but not the contents. when we click on the attached file name, we get the following error:

"500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR"

Has anyone encountered this issue? Any help is highly appreciated.

System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

I have written a web service and tested it and it works fine from the .asmx test page.

However, when I attempt to call it with a post I get this error:

The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Why does the test work fine but give a 500 error when I just try and get the response?

(500) Internal Server Error.- System.Net.WebException.

 I need to send SOAP requests to a webservice via HTTP (HTTPS), I have 2 URLS, when I use telnet command using first one (test) I am only getting this message

While the second one(production)  is giving me a blank screen, when running the below given program with that URL getting this error,

I have a search box on my site. If I implement a search by typing any characters it would come up with the right search result; except one-- ampersand (&) symbol. Whenever I type in this symbol - only this character- mind you, it would come up with the following error:

Accessing response of HttpWebRequest, even when request returns 500 Internal Server Error

Hi,

Hoping someone can point me to a solution, haven't been able to find one yet.

I'm using the standard way for send HttpWebRequest

		webRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(request.URL);
webRequest.Method = "POST";
webRequest.ContentType = "text/xml";

...

postStream = webRequest.GetRequestStream();
postStream.Write(requestBuffer, 0, requestBuffer.Length);
postStream.Close();
webResponse = (HttpWebResponse)webRequest.GetResponse();
responseStream = webResponse.GetResponseStream();
responseReader = new StreamReader(responseStream);
string response = responseReader.ReadToEnd();

This is all fine, working correctly, no poblems.

However the actual webservice that i'm calling returns a 500 Internal Server Error code for standard faults
