How do I set the max text length of a ListView cell to be bigger?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application
I need to be able to populate a cell in a WinForm ListView control with text that is longer than 256 characters (in some places I've seen this limit is 260 characters).  Is there some property I can set to accomplish this?  Can I directly access a control for a specific cell to tell it to allow for a larger size?  Or is there a general setting on the ListView itself?  I've seen suggestions to do tool tips or owner draw but am hoping this is simply a setting.

Cleanest way of setting max string length for text in GridView cells?

I want to make sure that each row in the table is the height of one line of text only.  I know you can set RowStyle-Wrap="false", but I also don't want any really wide rows.  I know I can go through each cell on RowDataBound or something and cut it to a particular length and then append an ellipsis on the end, but is there a neater way of doing the same thing?

WPF: how to change the ListView cell template if the content is too long, it will display as Charact

Small problem with displaying custom calendar cell text from db in Safari

using VS2010

I'm using the calendar control to create a simple event calendar. I want to add a small bit of custom text just below the date of any cell that contains an event on that date.

The code:

protected void Calendar1_DayRender(object sender, DayRenderEventArgs e)
      string connString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CalendarConnectionString1"].ToString();
      SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(connString);
      SqlDataAdapter myAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter("GetEvents", myConnection);
      DataSet myDataSet = new DataSet();
      myAdapter.Fill(myDataSet, "Table");
      //If the month is CurrentMonth
      if (!e.Day.IsOtherMonth)
        foreach (DataRow dr in myDataSet.Tables[0].Rows)
          if ((dr["Date"].ToString() != DBNull.Value.ToString()))
            DateTime dtEvent = (DateTime)dr["Date"];
            if (dtEvent.Equals(e.Day.Date))
              e.Cell.BackColor = Color.MediumAquamarine;
              Label label = new Label();
              label.Text = "</br>";
              label.Text += dr["Title"].ToString();

C# Datagridview cell text compare

I have 2 datagridviews on a form and would like to know if it is possible to compare the text in the 2 views and highlight any differences?

For example:

DG1: Cell A1 Text > This is a test

DG2: Cell A1 Text > This iss some test

Is it therefore possible to highlight "iss" , "some" in red and show the corresponding dgv1 text in green?

I have done this with 2 richtextboxes and cannot work out how to do this with datagridview?

Any help with this is most welcome

Thanks in advance

Load multiple record length text file into table using SSIS

I have a text file that has mulitple records lengths that I need to load into a table.  The file has multiple record types and each record type detemines the length of the record.  Let me try to explain...the file has a balance line 1, multiple detail records, balance line 2, and a trailer record.

The first record is a balance line 1, which has a record length of 144.

Detail records with a record type of inv or crd, will have a record length of 147.  The remaining record types will have a length of 144.

The second to the last record is balance line 2, which has a a record length of 156.

And the trailer record, which has a record length of 162.

Here is a portion of my source file.  I have made each line bold where you can see the rec type.  The record starting with 9999 is the trailer.

gridview sort on changed cell text

I have a gridview that is being databound by an SQLdatasource and on  RowDataBound i am doing a calculation and then setting

e.Row.cells(17).text = Result

However, when I go to sort it on the website it sorts it based off the previous values.

Cell(17) from the datasource reads in all 1's. The numbers I change it to range from 0 to 15. So when I click sort nothing changes because it sees it as all 1's.

How can i make the gridivew sort off the changed text values?

Using ASP.NET 3.5's ListView and DataPager Controls: Displaying Data with the ListView

Prior to ASP.NET 3.5, developers who needed to display a set of records could choose between the GridView, DataList, and Repeater controls. The GridView provides rich data features, but has a very boxy layout; the DataList and Repeater allow for a more flexible layout, but lack the "point and click" data features found in the GridView, DetailsView, and FormView controls. The ListView bridges the gap between layout flexibility and built-in data features.

This article, the first in a series of articles on the ListView and DataPager controls, looks at the ListView's many available templates and illustrates how to display data. Read on to learn more!

AutoCompleteStringCollection for text box in DataGridView 2.0

I have been searching for a way to have autocomplete in a DataGridTextBox

for a TextBox outside of a grid using the AutoCompleteCustomSource. Any
thoughts on how I can add this collection? :)

Built-in Functions - Text and Image Functions in SQL Server

Text and image functions operate on TEXT, NTEXT and IMAGE data types. These data types are deprecated with SQL Server 2005 and should be replaced by VARCHAR(MAX), NVARCHAR(MAX) and VARBINARY(MAX) when possible. Alternatively you can also consider storing large string values using XML data type. Text and image functions are nondeterministic.

Future versions of SQL Server will not support TEXT, NTEXT and IMAGE data types. Columns with TEXT / NTEXT data type do not support commonly used string functions such as LEN, LEFT, RIGHT, etc. Furthermore, due to the large size of TEXT data you''re likely to see performance issues if you store such data in the database. However, at times you can''t help but use the TEXT / NTEXT / IMAGE data types (for example when supporting 3rd party databases when you cannot change the schema) - this is when text and image functions come in handy.

WPF Tutorial - Using The ListView, Part 1

Many of the controls in WPF have a downright dizzying array of capabilities and features, due in large part to the composibility of all the components. The ListView control is a great example of this - the possibilities are almost endless. This series of tutorials on the ListView will hopefully make the space of possible options seem not quite as daunting
