Showing Ribbon on master page: The page you selected contains a list that does not exist.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I am performing a content database upgrade of a SharePoint 2007 site collection to SharePoint 2010. I used the mount-SPContentDatabase with the –UpdateUserExperience switch. I set the site to use the v4.master page as the master page. If the ribbon is not displayed on the page, the page renders. However when I show the ribbon I get the following error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Hello All,   We are facing an error in our MOSS 2007 internet site.   We are unable to access the root site ,however all other site collections created using manged path under the root site are accessible.   The home page of the root site i.e http://servername/pages/default.aspx  navigates to custom error page , where as application pages like settings.aspx ,viewlsts.aspx throw below mentioned error   "List does not exist  The page you selected contains a list that does not exist.  It may have been deleted by another user" As a workaround , we tried restoring the rootsite from back up file (.dat) ,but we get the same error (mentioned above).   Content database is very much present and database server has good enough memory.   Any suggestions for this would be of great help.

How to upgrade master page to use new Ribbon

Hi, In WSS 3.0, I made a custom.master and made some very minimal customizations: different background colors, attached a custom.css, etc. No big layout changes. Just colors and logos and fonts. For all intents and purposes it looks almost like the default master page of 2007 but with my corporate colors, branding, and identity. We upgraded to 2010 and my admin kept me in the "previous version of the user interface." When I tried to "preview the new user interface" in Site Settings>"Title, Description, Navigation", my custom master was completely wiped out by the new v4.master. It did add the ribbon, etc, but I want my corporate identity too. So I went back to the "previous version of the user interface." Now my plan was to follow this article and remove old placeholders, and add the new ones so that I can use the server ribbon. I tried all that. I found that doing that added some duplicate placeholders, so I removed the old ones, saved, and the page looks the same as it did in WSS3.0: no ribbon appears at the top. It looks the same as if it was WSS 3.0.   Is what I'm doing possible? Or do I need to start with a v4.master, and add my pre-2010 cusomtizations into that file to take advantage of the new v4core.css, etc? Or do I need to attach the new v4core.css to the master in the 2010 site? This article made a lot of sense

How to change CSS style for unordered list item in master page using VB

When a user logs in to the site, I'm trying to change the color (to "white" -- but only when there is a logged in user) of a list item that is contained on my master page. It is not working. Below is the markup and error message. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

Ribbon not updated when two ListViewWebParts exist on the page

We have two ListViewWebPart webparts created dynamically (i.e programatically ) on the default.aspx page on two separate manual activations of the features. Two different lists are also assigned to them programatically. These lists have different buttons on the document ribbon and different buttons are disabled for each list.

Following is how the webparts are created.

      SPLimitedWebPartManager mngr = file.GetLimitedWebPartManager(PersonalizationScope.Shared);

      list = file.ParentFolder.ParentWeb.Lists[ComplianceDocLib.DocumentLibName];

      lv.TitleIconImageUrl = "_layouts/images/iQDocLib.png";
      lv.ListName = list.ID.ToString("B").ToUpper();
      lv.ViewGuid = list.Views["HomePage"].ID.ToString("B").ToUpper();
      mngr.AddWebPart(lv, "Left", 0);

When the user clicks on the item check box on the list view webpart the ribbon that is shown

Unique content within master page based on conditions met

 Hi all-

I would like to present users with unique content based on certain conditions being met as they land on the home page (default.aspx).  The condition logic will be in the VB code behind Page Load event. The content will go in a content placeholder as specificed from the master page.

However, the content change wouldn't be something small (ie making a panel or label visible or not) but rather it will be different HTML,  Divs and databound gridview content.  The HTML content will be stored in the database.

Can someone point me in the right direction for best practices on how to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Passing Linq Statement between master and content page

I usually work with windows forms, and am just starting to work with ASP.Net, so appologies if this is a dumb question!

I have a master page which has a search button on it. The results of this are built up using a Linq statement and if there are any results, I want to display the results in a contents page.

On the masterpage, I have the following code:

Private _res

    Public Overridable ReadOnly Property SearchRes()
        Get
            Return _res
        End Get
    End Property

 Private Sub DoSearch()
   'some code to get a linq result
   'then

    If res.Any Then
            _res = res
            Server.Transfer("SearchResults.aspx", True)
        Else
            'no results
            LabelNoRes.Visible = True
        End If
 End Sub

On the SearchResults.aspx page I have this code.

Dim m As pxSite = CType(Page.Master, MasterPage)
        If m.SearchRes IsNot Nothing Then
            Label1.Text = "Results found = " & m.SearchRes.Count
        End If

m.searchRes is always nothing.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks

Re-positioning an HTML container with javascript onresize with a Master page.

I have an HTML <div> container that I float to the right of a gridview.  When the browser window is maximized, it looks fine.  When minimized, the gridview positions below the floating container and most of the data is pushed off the bottom of the browser - you have to scroll down to see it.

If I position the floating container above the gridview it looks fine in a minimized window, but looks real bad when maximized.

What I want to do is use a javascript: onresize event to re-position the floating container up or down depending on the window.inner.width AND do it with a Master/Content page structure AND do it for only the one page where needed.

I can capture the onresize event and display the window dimensions but haven't figured-out how to do it with a Content page that still uses the Master page.  I think I'm having a very "thick" week...
