When uploading documents in FireFox, the keword entry box is grayed out.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Some of our users have experienced an issue when using FireFox to upload documents to a document library - the Enterprise Keyword entry box is grayed out.  This seems to happen randomly - often, but not always, for the first document uploaded during a session.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?  any ideas how to fix it?

Uploading documents directly to record center libraries in MOSS

Hello all,

We have several pdf documents that are records and we want to maintain them in record center. These documents were not part of any collaboration sites. They are all in a shared folder. So there is no audit history and version history for these documents which is typical of any collaboration area documents.

The question I have is, will there be any disadvantages of directly uploading the document to record center library instead of setting up routing rules and submitting the document using OfficialFile.asmx.

I have noticed that when we submit a document using Send To, Record Center's default router renames the file and makes it a unique file name by appending _uniqueId. In my case, all the files are uniquely named and I am not worried about file name clashes.

Is it advisable to directly upload the documents to record cente

Sharepoint 2010 uploading documents programatically

Hi All I'm a newbie and hoping that someone can help me with a problem that I am having. I have written a WinForms app to upload documents to Sharepoint 2010 document library using client object model. It works great unless the file is more than 3MB. The error returned is "The remote server returned an error (400) Bad Request". The files are being uploaded from my local machine to the SharePoint 2010 site. I searched the internet for 2 days trying to find a solution to this without any joy. I have tried increasing the maxRequestLength and executionTimeout in web.config. The program uses a file stream to put the file in a btye array which then becomes the content of a filecreationinformation object. As I said, it loads files OK if they are less than 3MB, so I think that the code is OK. The max document size in SharePoint is 50mb. I really need some help please....   Blaithin

Error while downloading and uploading Documents from document library

We have a set of documents in a document library, which we are trying to download. if i click on the document and try to download, it takes a lot of time and then reports a error message.

Exception from HRESULT: 0x80041050

Now when we also try to upload documents, it does not allow us to upload the documents and reports a exception.

We tried to research through through the error, it gaves us while downloading the document, it is somewhat related to the Antivirus issues and looks like a document that is infected. This is only related to some documents and not all documents.

Let us know if there is any where to work around this issue and allow users to upload and download documents or how to tackle the antivirus issue.

It looks like the SharePoint antivirus has flagged off some of the so-called infected documents with some non-zero values, the resolution to this as suggested by microsoft is to re-run the anti-virus, so that the document value can be set to zero again and have the file downloaded.

Your help will be highly appreciated in this regards.

Uploading documents

Hi All

I have a new project that I was asked to work on. I am fairly new to asp.net but I am enjoying the ride so far.

I have used the upload control to upload files to a specific location but thats as far as I have come.

In this project the user will be uploading documents to be tracked in the database. A new table structure to be created.

For example they will be uploading loan contracts, and other documents associated with the project they are working on.

I seem to think my main table will look like

UserID, LocIC, DocType, Doclocation

so I need the user to be able to upload a contract or other document for a Loc ID and it needs to record that document location an other information in the document table so I can also have a view document page for all other users that need to see these documents.

They would just click the link in the doclocation field and it would then open the word document or whatever type of document it is.

I am not sure where to start do you all have suggestions. I would think this has been done at least 1.5 million times but I am not having any luck finding open source on it.

Thank you

Office 2010 documents stuck in uploading status

Good morning,

I'm encountering a hard to trace, intermittent issue with Office 2010 items not being saved in Sharepoint 2010. This issue has been reported on both Excel and Word files, and occurs when users edit an existing file and attempt to save it. 95% of the time, the file is saved and the upload indicator in the Office application flashes "uploading" and then disappears. However, in approximately 5% of the cases, the upload indicator stays in "uploading" status indefinitely, and users are forced to cancel the save and either save locally for later uploads, or retry after clearing the paused files in the new Office Upload Center.

My servers are Win 2008, with two WFE and a SQL box. They are VMs.

I've dug into the ULS logs and can see the point where users access the files. No errors are reported for this transaction. The application and system event logs on either the client or server aren't reporting any errors.

Any suggestions on what could be causing these issues? Anywhere else to check for errors?

Thanks in advance.
