Created By and Modified By are blank for non Admin users

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi all - I'm hoping you can help me out on this one:  I've got a document library set up in my subsite.  Every time I upload a document, the Created By and Modified By fields are blank for all users, except for the original site Administrator account.  That account is able to see the correct values in those fields.  I've tried giving other accounts the same Full Control permissions as the admin account but they are still not able to see any values in those fields.  I've searched high and low on this one and can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue.  Can anyone here shed some light on this?

SharePoint 2007 Central Admin - blank page, isapimodule error in IIS

I've got a Windows 2008 SP2 server runing x64.

When i try to access the SharePoint Central Admin site, I just get a blank page. No errors in the Windows logs, nothing showing up in the SharePoint logs. The IIS log shows a 500 error.

I enabled Failed Request Tracing for the 500 status code, which gives me the following information:

ModuleName IsapiModule

Notification 128

HttpStatus 500

HttpReason Internal Server Error

HttpSubStatus 0

ASP.NET Allow Admin Users Access Basic Users Accounts

We have an ASP.Net web application currently released to the public, that uses Membership and Provider features and have our users assign to a "Basic" role.  What we are working on doing is developing an administrative site, so that administrators (presumably to be assigned an "Admin" role), are able to login to the administrative site, where they will have access to a list of users in the "Basic" role.
From the admin site, we want to allow the administrators to click on any of the "Basic" users and effectively be logged into there account (loading the user's profile information in the process, as is the case when a "Basic" user logs in), while still remaining lo

SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express returns no search results for non-admin users

This is going to sound crazy, but anyway... bare with me... I have a SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express (RTM) installed with a crawl account (call it sharepoint_crawl) which has full read permission to an entire site collection of 100,000 documents. I have logged in with this account to make sure it has read access to everything, and it does. I run a full crawl of all documents and allow it to finish. If I try and search the content for an extremely common term (i.e. 50,000+ hits) I get no results. However, if I log in with a site collection admin I do get search results. There are no indexing errors or query errors in either log files or event log. Everything looks like it is working correctly - just no results for non-admins Anyone tripped on this? I have recreated the crawl account and perform a full re-index with the same results. What gets me is that the crawl account does have read permission to the content it is indexing, the content is indexed correctly, but the crawl account cannot get results back. It is as if security-trimming is removing everything. Any ideas?

Admin page to manage users, need help with adding roles to this layout

Currently i have a page that has the following  code / layout.. as it is now, i am only displaying the roles and they cant be edited. Since this would be the admin page to manage users, what i would like is to have the Roles display as a checkbox list that shows all our roles and have the roles that the user is assigned to checked. Can that be done, if so are there any examples or tutorials i can review?

Customized sharepoint portal is not accessible to normal users unless a site admin access the site o

Hello there

I have created a sharepoint portal and customized it. I have created my own master page and there are many webparts implemented. This has been hosted in a MOSS server. When a normal user is trying to access the portal first thing in the morning, he is getting a "You are not authorized to view this page" error. But when a site admin access the site, there is no issue and he is able to access the site. The site admin does nothing in the site and once he has logged in to the site,  the user is able to access the site without any trouble.

I have tried to look into the master page gallery and has given full access to the users for "Style Resource Readers" user group. Even now the user is facing the same issue.

Kindly help in this regards,

Can multiple users connect simulateously to an offline cube created by SSAS 2008?

We have created an offline cube on a network drive from SSAS 2008 and users are able to successfully access this serially using the Excel 2003 cube add-in or Excel 2007, in concert with version 10 driver, but when a user is already connected, the second attempt to connect will get the message :

Connection to <filename> server, <dbname> database, <cubename> cube failed.  OLAP Server error: The following system error occurred:  The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. ., File system error: An error occurred while opening the '<filename>' local cube file.

This is regardless of whether users connect specifying read-only and we have found it impossible to connect to a cube if the file has the read-only attribute set.

Is there any way to solve this without users taking copies onto their workstations?

Blank screen on central admin after initial install

Just installed and have a blank screen after the initial installation

I chose the NTLM version of the install and the server farm rather than all in one for future proofing expansion

The server it is installed on is windows server 2008r2 and our domain is also running r2. The blank screen is the same remotely as it is locally so probably not the loop back issue ive seen mentioned.

I didnt set up an SPN? but I was guessing that was for Kerberos mode?

the only real error message I can see is in the application log

An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: The requested service, 'http://localhost:32843/SecurityTokenServiceApplication/securitytoken.svc' could not be activated. See the server's diagnostic trace logs for more information..

Also a 2nd error which I assume is because of the above?

WebHost failed to process a request.

Error ""The site /ssp/admin could not be created" during SSP Creation

I've a problem when creating a new SSP. My farm is composed by a Sql Server Cluster, 2 Front end, and 2 application.

Now the SSP is located (Search Database) on the first application server, and i'm Trying to Create a second SSP with DB pointing on another server.

When I create the ssp, i receive a generic error (via Web interface and Stsadm.exe). In the LOGS I found as follow.

It seems something due to the SSP Admin Site and it's template.

Can yuu help me?

How to place security on a document library such that users only see documents they created?

When using lists, it is easy to specify that users can only see lists that they created (through Advanced Settings)... Is there a similar way to do this with document libraries? Rather than doing item level security... Thanks.

Copy list from mysite to portal web application with Created by and Modified by columns

I have a list in mysite, which I need to move to portals web application. Only way I know is to save list as template and copy the stp file to another site collection. However issue with this approach is values of system columns "Created by" and "Modified by" does not get copied over.

Is there a way to copy values of these columns?

Workflow for "Item Created" never runs when Admin creates new item

On all the Workflows I've used in SharePoint 2010 - OOT and SharePoint Designer workflows - I noticed that when the workflow is associated to the "item created" event on a list the workflow never runs if the administrator creates a new item in the list, but it runs if a "normal" user creates an item

Is this by design?

Search returns no results for non admin users

Hi all, I can't seem to get search to return results for non-admin users. I can search fine as the administrator - but non admin users, although they can see the rest of the site content with no issues, they can't get any results on the search. I'm using MOSS 2007 on a server farm - the search config appears to be set up correctly but I can't find any info on why it might not be returning results for non admins - I would have thought security trimming would have stopped users from seeing content - so is there some way that users would be able to see the site but still not have 'real' access to it?

Changes to BlueVertical.master are not visible to users, but are to admin

I am really in a bind here and I'm hoping that someone will be able to assist me.  I have decided to go forward with making the BlueVertical.master my masterpage for my SharePoint site.  The problem that I am experiencing is that when I make changes to the logo section of the BlueVertical.master file and in-turn the vertical.css files the changes are NOT visible to the users in my organization, they are oddly enough, visible to me.  Could someone please assist me with making it so that my changes are visible to everyone?  I have checked in and approved the changes to the files using SharePoint Designer 2007 and SharePoint 2007, but still no avail.

Thank You So Much In Advance,
