Validation Summary with regular Expression validator

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a page that im using Validation Summary on. I have 5 out of 8 fields that im validating. All 5 have required validators and 1 of the 5 also has regularexpressionvalidator with it.

When the page load and i click the submit, all the fields show my red * next to them and the individual messages down in the summary. Thats find, but im having issues with checking the field with the regex validation when you submit the form again. At the moment, i had added a if condition on the button event and it is preventing the form from submitting and the field is showing the red * next to it, but my message from the regex validator does not display in the summary. Actually the summary doesnt even show up. The regex validator works when you tab out of the field by placing the red *, but the actual error message doesnt display in the summary, so you wouldnt know why there is an issue.

I have the following as a test, def isnt correct, but was trying to show the summary with the value from my regex validator:

        protected void btnInfo_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
            if (!Page.IsValid)
                vsSumm.ShowSummary = true;

Regular Expression, Email Validation, Consective dots name part

Hi All Can you please help me to modify this regex to validate consecutive dots in the name part (before @) of the email string.  For example, i want to disqualify an email string like (george...antony@gmail.com).  But an email string with single dots in the name part should be allowed (george.antony@gmail.com).   This regex is validating the consecutive dots after the @ sign (domain part) .    All other validation with this regex is as expected.   ^([a-zA-Z0-9_\-\.]+)@((\[[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.)|(([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+\.)+))([a-zA-Z]{2,4}|[0-9]{1,3})(\]?)$     Thanks in advance george

Negate predefined words using Regular Expression Validator

So if he typed the existing planet names regular field validation don't allow further. i tried [^({Mercury})|({Venus})|({Earth})|({Mars})|({Jupiter})|({Saturn})|({Uranus})|({Neptune})|({Ceres})|({Ploto})|({Haumea})|({Makemake})|({Eris})] but not working. Its not working for any strings. Please tell me the correct way to do this One more thing i want to know is how lengthy expression can be given to the Regular Expression Validator. Thanks Akeeq

Regular Expression Validator

i have been using the Validators on my forms to validate the information placed into an intranet Email form.

with the form being internal i was hoping to change the "RegularExpressionVaildator" to see if its a vaild email and dis allow it.

Reason being is once the form is completed the last part of the email is completed within the code e.g. @hotmail.com is added.

Below is the Vaildator code i have am just unsure on how to change it.

<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="RegularExpressionValidator1" runat="server"
                    ErrorMessage="Do not enter @hotmail.com"

how does the string validation work for this regular expression?

 _strInt = value.ToString();
Regex objPattern = new Regex("[^ a-zA-Z]" ); if (objPattern.IsMatch(_strInt)) { return   new ValidationResult(true , null );
   } else return new ValidationResult(false , "Value must contain only alphabets" ); } }

if i pass a valid expression as "abc" .. its Failing .
Can some1 explaing how it's failing .

<asp:textbox id="txtSSN" runat="server"  size="14" onBlur="javascript:return mask(this.value,this,'3,6','-','Pri');" maxlength="9" AutoCompleteType="Disabled"></asp:textbox>

<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="RegularExpressionValidator1" runat="server" ErrorMessage="<span style='display:none'></span><img src='../images/arrow.gif' alt='Enter a valid 9 digit SSN number'>" ControlToValidate="txtSSN" ValidationExpression="^[0-9X]{3}[\- ]?[0-9X]{2}[\- ]?[0-9]{4}$"></asp:RegularExpressionValidator>

Regular expression validation

I'm using a regular expression validator on a number forms but I can't get this one (the simplest) to work

The regex pattern is ^(?!Search for) which should stop a user pressing the submit button before valid input is entered.  The result however is that it stops every unput.

Anyone help?

Regular Expression to Match

Here is the kind of text I want to match via a regular Expression

The id="dgSchedule" is always present in the TAG but its location may differ

The table is span over multiple line/contains white spaces/tabs...

I have the regular expression to match the start and end tag respectively over a single line

\<table .*\>

The problem is to match the whole table span over multiple lines

<table cellspacing="0" rules="all" border="1" id="dgSchedule" style="border-style:None;height:100%;width:100%;border-collapse:collapse;">
	<tr class="blackbar" align="center" style="background-color:#7FB4DE;font-family:Verdana;font-weight:bold;height:20px;">
		<td>From Place</td><td>To Place</td><td>Time</td><td>Bus Type</td>

	</tr><tr style="background-color:#DEECF5;">
	</tr><tr style="background-color:#EFF5FA;">

Need a regular expression

I have a required field validator for a texbox, but I just found out that the texbox can have a space in it (for a delimiter, let's say).

I checked the .net and regexlib.com, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I simply need a regular expression that basically excepts any character string including spaces in it or even a space by itself

Can someone help me out?

regular expression

hi...can anobody help me that how to write regular expression for textbox..such as the textbox should accept only numbers otherwise alert msg should be displayed ..displaying that u cannot enter the charcter in the textbox..i want this in javascritp..

Matching set of characters via regular expression

I need to be able to match sets of quote and space characters in a string and replace these accordingly. I currently have this done in 2 lines of code, but would like to use regular expression so that I can use only 1 line of code. See below: var Qt = unescape("%22"); //quote char var Sp = unescape("%20"); //space var Cr = unescape("%0d"); //carriage return var Lf = unescape("%0a"); //line feed var CrLf = Cr + Lf;  //carriage return & line feed stringOut = stringIn.replace(Qt+Qt+Sp+Qt,Qt+Qt+CrLf+Qt); stringOut = stringOut.replace(Qt+Qt+Sp+Qt+Qt,Qt+Qt+CrLf+Qt+Qt);   I want to replace space in string like in pattern below with carriage return line feed: (in hex) 22 22 20 22 or 22 22 20 22 22. This needs to return 22 22 0D 0A 22 or 22 22 0D 0A 22 22   Line in green above will only match and replace 22 22 20 22 , but I want have regular expression into 1 line of code which  will match and replace either 22 22 20 22 or 22 22 20 22 22
