SQL Server 2005 - Check if Trace Flag is enabled?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi all,

never encountered trace flags before, but due to a problem in one of our applications I was asked if we activated a hotfix by enabling two trace flags.

Is there a possibility to check, if the trace flags are enabled?

I don't have the permission to execute anything on our SQL Server so I cannot run the DBCC TRACEON command.

Other question: by enabling a trace flag is there any risk to it? We have a productive environment and at the end of the month there are lots of reports running, so I don't want to do any changes to the system that might cause a problem.

Thanks for your suggestions

URGENT: stopping a scheduled trace - SQL Server 2005

I have created a trace script with the Profiler and I have put this script in a SQL Server Agent step job with a single occurence schedule. The job is started and in idle state. Now, I want to delete the trace file written, but I cannot to delete it. I have restarted the SQL Server Agent service, but the trace is still un-deletable. The execution account for the SQL Server Agent service is LOCAL SYSTEM. The owner of the job is my Windows account (I have alter trace permission).

How can I delete the trace file produced, please? Many thanks for your helps.

SQL Server 2005 Try and Catch Exception Handling

I'm pretty excited to see that there is some real error handling for T-SQL code in SQL Server 2005. It's pretty painful to have your wonderfully architected .NET solution tainted by less-than-VBScript error handling for stored procedures in the database. The big difference being the addition of TRY..CATCH blocks. Let's take a look:
