My virtual machine, Windows server 2008 R2, was setup to run Power Save by Faronics. Faronics requires SQL. I purchased SQL Server 2008 R2 standard, but Faronics is not certified on SQL 2008 Standard R2, so I downgraded to just SQL 2008 Standard.
While trying to install SQL Standard 2008 I go a message that "The program has known compatiblity issues, and SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 must be applied after setup completes", I clicked Run Program but go the message "Microsoft .Net Framework
3.5 SP 1 install failed". After googling, I found info about using Server Manager to install .Net Framework 3.5 as a role, which I did, and .Net 3.5.1 is on the list of roles for the server, but the message about .Net Framework still comes up.
