Pre upgrade missing web parts

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I am trying to fix all pre upgrade errors we have, but now i am stuck at two issues.

1: The following web part(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server

Id = 530cf774-77de-679d-f9a3-de8e74999ba8, Type = Unknown, Reference = 5, Status = Missing

This one comes up on all our SharePoint servers except for one of our FE servers. Now i searched for the site this webpart is on and with ?contents=1 and see if there is a error webpart. But this is not the case. Anyone has a idea how i can find out what the problem is here?

2: The following setup file(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server

WSS 2.0 Upgrade To 3.0 - databaserepair command missing.

Hello - We are upgrading a WSS 2.0 server to 3.0. We have a new server setup with WSS 3.0 installed. I have run the prescan and have a few issues to correct. My issue is the "databaserepair" command is missing and I am not able to run the command from stsadm. My understanding was this was included in a hotfix post SP2 and we have SP3 installed so the commands should be there? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!

Sandbox Solutions with Web Parts Upgrade Error

I have a Visual Studio Sandbox solution with multiple web parts deployed on the site collection. It seems like I was able to upgrade the solution code without any issues and redeploy. Suddenly I started getting 'Unhandled exception was thrown by the sandboxed code wrapper's Execute method in the partial trust app domain: The type is not registered as safe" error.. Any idea what could cause this issue and how to avoid that in future?

SP2010 Upgrade Error: Missing Reusable Content Types

During the in-place upgrade from MOSS2007 to SharePoint 2010, I experienced the following issue for numerous site collections.  Even though these were errors, the configuration wizard completed with Errors stating that there were some sites not fully upgraded.

I cannot determine how to resolve this error and complete the content database upgrade.   Thanks in advance.

In the Upgrade-YYYYMMDD-######-##-error.log file, the following details were logged for about 15 different site collections:

Custom Content Types Missing after 2007 Upgrade to 2010

Hello everyone -

We have a portal solution leveraging custom publishing content types and page layouts in 2007. The database was backed up, and the upgrade was done via dbattach on a 2010 environment. The site works seemingly fine - though there is some strange behavior we noticed where a few content types are missing.

The Content Type Gallery lists only say 10 of the 15 content types we should have. Loading the Master Page and Page Layout Gallery we see the inheriting content type, though clicking on it yields in an error as though it cannot find the content type. These are all custom content types, though they are not very different from each other.

Has anyone experienced this problem and devised a solution? - I tried to iterate through the site collection via a console application to see if I could somehow update or intercept the issue with the missing content types to no avail. I'll be open to suggestions / tools recommended...

All the best,

Alex

SharePoint 2010 - missing server side dependencies and missing web parts

I did a clean SP 2010 install recently on a new server farm.  I got a health analyzer warning about missing server side dependencies - a lot of them - and missing web parts ... then I installed the August cumulative upgrade and got a clean configuration but an erro log with, again, a list of theoretically missing web parts.  I don't see any issue with features or functions but-- even after reading the posts- am unable to figure out (1) whether this is important or (2) how to fix it -- please note that my test server shows none of these issues - the only difference between test and prod is that test is completely vanilla and production uses a named instance of SQL Server ... Thanks so much for any advise ... Pete

Portal Site Connection Missing After Upgrade

I have just upgraded to 2010 from 2007 and noticed that the portal site connection is not showing up on the different site collections it was setup on. If I go into site actions->portal site connections, the setting is still enabled and the URL is still correct. How can I get this back? This was a very useful feature..

Upgrade fails because of missing non custom site definitions.

Hi, we are trying to upgrade our MOSS 2007 installation. From the beginning i had lots of errors in the preupgradecheck and test-spcontentdb. But now i only have a few left, too bad they are making the whole "Mount-SPContentDB" to fail.

So first, a little overview of the environment:

Old MOSS: Windows Server 2008 x86, MOSS 2007 SP2 with October cumulutive hotfixes. Swedish Language Pack installed. Enterprise features enabled.
OLD DB: Windows Server 2008 x86, SQL 2005

New MOSS: Windows Server 2008 R2, Sharepoint Server 2010, Swedish Language Pack installed. Enterprise features enabled.
New DB: Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL 2008 R2

Here is the erros from the preupgradecheck:

 Issue : Missing server file or server configuration issues
Server side files are referenced in the content databases, but are not installed on the server. Without these files, the sites may not function completely or the content may not render correctly. Also, upgrade or post upgrade issues may occur if these files are not available in the new version environment.The following web part(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server
Id = e6377261-6920-bbfe-501f-fda7a61db10f, Type = Unknown, Reference = 3, Status = Missing
Id = b03e1652-5399-916f-f123-46a028d419ac, Type = Unknown, Reference = 2

Upgrade failed due to missing features though preupgradecheck didnt give errors

I am trying to migrate from sharepoint 2007 to 2010,I first ran preupgrade check,it gave me error realted to feature info,I migrated using database attach method,found 55 errors in log,downloaded tool called feature admin from codeplex,found some faulty features,removed them,ran preupgrade check ,received featureinfo passed,repeated again the migration process ,got 40 errors realted to missing features,if the preupgradecheck didnt give errors related to features,why am i getting upgrade failed due to missing features

Displaying SharePoint lists in Web Parts

When you create a built-in or custom list in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, Windows SharePoint Services creates a Web Part, a basic building block of a SharePoint site, to display that list. These Web Parts are called List View Web Parts. Windows SharePoint Services stores List View Web Parts in the site collection Web Part gallery. (The site collection Web Part gallery is the most central gallery of Web Parts for a work group. By default, the gallery name is the name of the site, such as "Our Team Site Web Part Gallery." )

Six easy ways to customize your site using Web Parts in SharePoint

Becoming familiar with Web Part customization techniques gives you a range of page-customization choices. For example, you can customize your site's home page so that it displays the specific information that your team needs. You can rearrange the list items on the home page, add lists, and even change the images on the home page. As you become more familiar with Web Part Page customization techniques, you can build interactive Web Part Pages that makes the data in lists more dynamic and useful, and you can add new Web Parts that provide access to external data and Web services.

SharePoint Tutorial - Web Parts

A page in SharePoint is comprised of web parts the exist within zones. Web parts are available for just about everything. For example in the page below there are four web part highlighted by different colors. The purple web part displays a short list of the new announcements stored in the annoucements library. The pink web part displays events from a calendar within the site. The green web part displays an image from a location the user specifies. The gray web part displays a list of links from the links list on the site.

Visual Studio Add-In for Web Parts Generation

This article will introduce you to a new Visual Studio 2005/2008 add-in that can be used for Web Parts generation based on a prepared ASCX control/template. The add-in should allow Web Part developers to easily make Web Parts using the Visual Studio HTML designer. It should save you a lot of time and make Web Part development an enjoying experience even for beginners.

This article is written in the form of a step-by-step tutorial. It will give beginners a chance to successfully make, deploy, and try their first Web Parts, and will save some time for advanced users as you can always run into challenges when working with SharePoint.

Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010

If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.
