HTTP Handlers

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi All,

I am attempting to convert an ASP.NET handler into SharePoint.

I have an ASP.NET handler which redirects users from index.html to default.aspx. I need to get this happening inside SharePoint. I have followed the MSDN article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457204.aspx to try and get it running.

I can call my ASHX page directly (http://portal/_layout/test/indexhttphandler.ashx, but i can not get the page to be called from a web request, That is http://portal/index.html, i get a 404.

How do I get the page to be called?

ASP.NET Architecture - ASP.NET Worker Process - HTTP Pipleline - Http Modules and Handlers

"ASP.NET is a powerful platform for building Web applications, that provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and power for building just about any kind of Web application. Most people are familiar only with the high level frameworks like WebForms and WebServices which sit at the very top level of the ASP.NET hierarchy. In this article I'll describe the lower level aspects of ASP.NET and explain how requests move from Web Server to the ASP.NET runtime and then through the ASP.NET Http Pipeline to process requests.

Writing Http Handlers and Modules in IIS 7.5

This article describes how Http modules and handlers are to be written and configured in IIS 7.5. The concept of a handler and module remains same, so dose there programming model. In this section we start off with the concept of a Http module and a Http handler, then talk about how to code them and finally describe the two methods available to configure them.

Http Modules and the Http handlers in asp.net 4

I am using IIS 7 .when I tried to migrate  to asp.net 4 , the VS 2010  has removed the following tag on conversion .if I opened a web application  in 3.5 framework ,the following tag is added inside the Web.config file ,if i opened a asp.net4 application  the following tag is not added.

<validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="true" />

I know this tag is basically used when the application is running under the  Integrated mode.

Is this tag is required in asp.net 4 .Do we still need to configure the Http Modules and the Http handlers under the sytem.webserver in the Web.config?

Any suggestions are welcome

Problem Adding Custom HTTP Module with Ajax(System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule)

I have Created a custom Module for my application. It works fine when i am testing on a sample website.

But when i integrated the same with the original application it dosent works fine. Actully i am using Ajax control toolkit and it uses its own module for request processing.System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule.

Hence my handlers section becomes something like this :

      <add name="ScriptModule" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" />
      <add type="MyModule, MyModule,Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=ba11cfdfb1d1111b" name="SiteMinderHttpModule" />

 Now i think my module working fine but because of it there is some hinderence caused in the Ajax request processing.I get the error sys is undefined.

I have created a class library Project and implemented the iHTTPModule interface and then registered the assembly in GAC and then accessing the assembly from there..

Is there any work around for this problem as my page is not rendering properly.

Please Help.

Exception handling in projects which uses Ajax, ASP.NET, Http Module, MVC3 and Http Handlers

Dear All,

I am working on a project where we have used few of the web application plateforms & techniques. I need to build a robust exception handling framework for my applications that handles all type of exceptions i.e server exception, unhandled exception, http module exception and custom raised exception etc.

In our projects,

1) we have static ASP.net pages (without code behind) for jQuery menus which uses jquery ajax and custom HttpHandler to fetch the data from the server.

2) some aspx pages load and save application data using jQuery ajax and custom httpHandlers.

3) some functionalities are developed in MVC3 which uses strongly and non strongly type views. Strongly type view save the data through controller on page submit and non strongly type view used jQuery ajax and json to save the data from controller.

4) We are also using HttpModule in our web site to authenticate the user.

Please guide me how to handle exception from multiple sources and display custom error message to the user from asp.net pages and jquery ajax calls?

HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden

(VB Express website directed me to ASP.NET Web Services which in turn redirected me to this forum).

 Hopefully someone can help me here......

I am using VIsual Web Developer and downloaded the small business application to use as a starting point to help my wife get a website up for her small business. When I load the application, I can F5 and it runs fine but as soon as I make any modification to the app and hit F5, I get the HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden when it tries to show the website.

I notice a pop up that occurs when I run that allows me to choose the link for my app and it displays correctly (I close the webpage that has the error on it).

This seems like a pain, is there a setting I'm missing - I would think that this should "just work".

What's up?????

HTTP Post and WebService

I am working on a application which will accept the data in the post request. My application also wants to expose a web service and want to call another web service. Considering all these 3 action that I want to do, can I create a single application which will have a web form which will accept the POST request and expose a web service at the same time.

Although it may be possible to achieve this, Is this a correct way of doing it?

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

         Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

    HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
