Pagination

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi:

We have around 2000 documents/items in a document library/project task list. Our users wanted pagination functionality; displaying documents/items. They are aware of the page# on which can locate the item; hence should be able to reach to desired page directly instead of traversing pages one by one.

Appreciate help on implementing this.

Repository Pattern - Pagination, Sorting

Hi All, envt: MOSS 2007 I have been trying to get my head around on P&P for 2007. It looks fine and adaptable but I do not see pagination / sorting designs implemented there. End of the day in the User Interface we need to provide the ability ot page and to sort the data (ASP.NET Grid in user control). Now in P&P we don't have datatables (weakly typed) but have domain models (strongly typed). Now had this been datatables, I could have retained the datatable in memory (cache / session) and could have gone back to it every time a user sorts / or does paging. But with domain objects we don't have that flexibility but will have to implement the logic on our own. Thats is fine, But i dont see a IQueryable or something of that sort being passed back. 1) Any ideas on how to do this with clean separation of concerns? 2) If we are going IQueryable way of exposing a say - DomainObject.FindByLoginName(id) - Then we dont have an option, but to go to the database for every call? Right ? Is that a good design OR do we other better ideas ? Cheers

Data form web part issue with pagination

I have a data form web part which I put inside a user control. I have an issue with the default pagination. Clicking the previous button on the pagination causes a "Webpage is expired" error. I've tried copying the code from the next button but it doesn't work and I've also tried caching my pages still nothing. I read somewhere here that someone was able to implement the previous button pagination from code behind but he still hasn't replied to my question. Does anyone else know how to implement this from code behind? Really need help with this.

Pagination and Data buffering in Windows Application using C# 2005

Requirement
.NET Windows application using C# interacts with Oracle DB for retrieving and saving data

Issue
With huge volume of data, the performance is slow and the memory usage is high, the application displays the entire data in the screen. Response time is high due to database call and client side data processing

Proposed Solution
Using pagination (from Oracle DB) to display partial data in the screen, response time of the application will be faster; however, it will make DB calls for each page. We are looking at a solution to get the 1st page data from DB and start the application, after which there will be a background job to get the rest of the data from DB to a local XML DB. So, in case of next page, the data will be loaded from XML instead of making a DB call.

Is this design possible?
Is synchronization possible between local XML DB and the Oracle DB?

Pagination Issue

Hi All

I am following the same approach for paging which is mentioned in nerd dinner application.

I am doing paging on 2 Views.

Code is as below-:

Global.asax

routes.MapRoute("Paging", "Source/Page/{page}", new {controller="Source", action="Index"});

routes.MapRoute("PagingCampaign", "Campaign/Page/{page}", new {controller="Campaign", action="Index"});

But when i navigate through the Source view and Click on Campaign Link then this Campaign ink is also redirecting on next page.

I think the problem is with the Routes. If it is a problem with Route then how to resolve this issue.

My code is-:

SourceController-:

Public ActionResult Index(int ? page)

{

int pagesize=25;

 List<Source>= null;

using (Repository repository=Repository.CreateRepository())

{

source=(from s in repository.Sources orderby s.Name select s).ToList();

var paginatedSource= new PaginatedSource<Source>(source,page ?? 0, pageSize);

reurn View(paginatedSource);

}

}

Need advice on whether to use a repeater or a listview for pagination

Hi all!

I've completed a page that has several repeaters on it.  Everything works perfectly and the data is all formatted and presented just how I want it.    I'm now trying to add pagination to the repeaters since there may be some large datasets returned,   but I'm reading that this is apparently not a simple task.

Would it just be a simpler solution to change my repeaters to listviews or does anyone know of an easy way to add pagination to a repeater?

WCF REST Service and Resource Pagination

Hi,

I have a REST service that exposes a collection of resources, let's say books. I have the following operations on the collection:

GET /books -> returns the list of books
POST /books -> creates a new book

For these, I have the following operations declared:

[WebInvoke(Method = "GET", UriTemplate = "/books")]
[OperationContract]
BookCollection GetBooks();

[WebInvoke(Method = "POST", UriTemplate = "/books")]
[OperationContract]
void CreateBook(Book book);

Now, I want to add pagination to the returned collection, so I would like to have the following operations on it:

GET /books -> returns the list of books (either all of them, or have some defaults for the pagination)
GET /books?pageNumber=0&itemsPerPage=50 -> list the first page with 50 items per page
POST /books -> creates a new book

If I only define the GET operation like this:

[WebInvoke(Method = "GET", UriTemplate = "/books?p

Pagination support for cross list queries

Hi,

I need to be able to page through the results returned from Cross List queries. It would be great if someone shares the pointers for this? Is it possible to achieve Pagination for the results returned by Cross List queries
