Pass the server variable to search core result web part

I'd like to custom the search core result web part to filter results based on the log on user name.

It can easily be done in Dataview web part.

However the search core web part doesn't accept "<parameterbining>" to pass in the server variable [logon_user]. I can't figure out how to use <xsl:param> to get this server variable either.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

SSIS Deployment Reads local Environment Variable and not Server

Hi All, I have an SSIS package that uses an Environment variable to hold the connection string for the local SSISConfiguration table.  This works properly on my local machine.  However, when I import the package to Integration Services(through SSMS) it reads the environment variable from the local machine and not the server it is deployed to.  If I log on to the server remotely and do the same process it uses the the correct environment varible... (SQL Server 2005) Is there a way to deploy the package to the server and get it to use the correct Env variable without having to log-in to the server and import it?  Let me know if anyone is looking for additional information.   Thanks!

Variable issue - SQL Server to Oracle

Variable value within SQL Server table Configuration is not being updated within load of DTSX packag

Hi,

I am probably missing something obvious here; -
I have created a package with a variable named; - ServerName and a value of 'KIERAN-PC'
I exported this variable as an SSIS configuration within a SQL Server table

I noticed the following record appeared within the SQL Server configuration table.

Server is completely empty and I can't create a normal database

I use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express on Windows 7.

Don't ask me how, but when I was erasing a database I no longer desired, I erased the 'Database' folder on the server.

Pitiful I know, but I am only learning how to use databases this year... and I'm not even learning it on MSSQL.

Every time I try to connect to a new instance, it is created without any folder to place databases and running a script that used to restore a database I have returns an error saying that the token 'RESTORE' is incorrect. This didn't happen before.

I've tried uninstalling SQL Server and SQL SMSE and re-installing. No matter how much I try to erase every residue of past installations, the new installation always recovers the state of the previous one, showing exactly the same server structure and database name.

How do I remake the entire server?

P.S. I'm curious as to why this information is stored in my computer, information that I am unaware of. Is the Server a part of Windows itself? Why can't I control the information the system stores and simply erase any evidence of a previous server so I can create a new one?

How to resolve this error? - Database on SQL Server instance is not empty and does not match current

Upgrade form MOSS 2007 to Sharepoint 2010.  Reviewing the event log I see the following error.  Not sure what to do and hoping someone can provide some guidance please.

- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">

Failing Connection String Environmental Variable, XML Variable, System Variable (SQL Server) Setup

We attempted to implement the Chapter 2 Framework from the Knight, Vermeen, Moss, Hackney book on SSIS 2008: Problem Design Solution. We see a couple of problem areas (at least) in our interpretation of the guidelines from the book.

1. We are attempting to have one connection string per server: dev/prod

2. We have set up environmental variables per server: dev/prod

3. We have set up XML Package Variables per server: dev/prod

4. We have set up System Variables per server in SQL Server: dev/prod

Problem 1:

We've had to manually key in the common connection string to all packages on a server environment in the component properties area (control flow; not data flow--ok there)

Shouldn't the connection property find the connection that we've instantiated and provide us with a pull down to select it?

The components are un-editable after we select the common connection string, but they still run properly in our SQL Server Agent Job.

Problem 2:

The dev server variable overlays the prod server variable information duringprod component editing

We are'nt sure if these problems are related.

Here is our package variable:

\Package.Variables[User::connMedcDwProd].Properties[Value]

Here is our DTSconfig file; we have a few variations of this that we've tried.

Passing variable into function in SQL Server from Access

Hi,

I am trying to call a function in SQL Server 2005 from Access 2003.  It works fine with the constant value, but fails with a variable of the same value.  This works:

strSQL = "SELECT * FROM functionName (constantValue)"
rs.Open strSQL, cn

But when I use variable in the parameter, I get error.  I have tried creating parameter objects in Access, but couldn't execute it and don't know if this is a way to go anyway.

Would appreciate for any help or suggestion.

Thank you

Passing xml in javasript variable to server side

Hello,

I am creating the new XML in javascript and assigning it to javascript variable and assigning it to html hidden field. But in server side I am not able to retrive its value when I debug hidden field shows [object object] in server side.

How can I solve the above mentioned problem? Is there any other better method exist?

Thanks

Session variable worked on one Prod server but not on another server

We recently migrated a web app from one Prod server (Prod 1) to another server (Prod 2).  There is a session varialbe checked inside the page load event of the default master page. I have enabled session state both in web.config as well inside the pagedirective. The compilation went through without any issue. The web app is also running just fine on the server but the log file keeps logging a warning message. There is no run time error.

"System.Web.HttpException: Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the <configuration>\<system.web>\<httpModules> section in the application configuration."

Any idea why this is happening on one server vs other? Am i missing any other config. settings? Appreciate your help.

The web app was developed using asp.net 2.0

SQL Server Express Nulls versus empty strings??

Help!

I have a SQL Server column FileLocation which is declared
varchar(150), not null

Some of the values look like nulls to me ..
len(FileLocation) gives zero length

But..
Isnull(ltrim(rtrim(FileLocation)), 'test')

..does not bring back 'test' - why is this?

Do I need a patch for my sql server version? a service pack?

TIA

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Making Ajax Callbacks to the Server Using jQuery with ASP.NET

In the first part of this article series I introduced jQuery's functionality and how it provides a rich client side programming model. This time around I'll expand on these concepts and show you how you can use jQuery in combination with ASP.NET using it as an AJAX backend to retrieve data. I'll also discuss how you can create ASP.NET controls and otherwise interact with jQuery content from ASP.NET pages in WebForms.

jQuery is just a JavaScript library so it will work seamlessly with ASP.NET both from page code as well as through backend driven code using the Page.ClientScript object or ScriptManager. You can use jQuery on its own as a client side and Ajax library that communicates with ASP.NET or you can use jQuery in combination with ASP.NET AJAX. The two actually complement each other quite well as jQuery provides functionality that the ASP.NET AJAX library does not and vice versa. For the most part the interaction between the two libraries is trouble free except for a few very rare edge cases.

MS SQL Server: Disconnect Users From Database - Kill User Session

If you ever wanted to restore your database from a SQL backup file (.bak), but there are still users connected to your database, the backup operation will fail causing the error: Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use.

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

So when a client needs a custom report or some sort of custom development using Great Plains, most of the time I will have to track down the data in the system by running this query and find the table(s) it is in.
