Shared DLL and Shared session

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi everybody,

I have a web site with a bunch of DLL in the bin directory. I have to use a newer version pf AjaxControlToolkit and I can't replace the old one.

So I create a virtual directory in the web site. I copy the new AjaxControlToolkit and the others DLL. But when I try to get the session variable (accessed normaly by the website DLL) I got nothing. It's correct because I'm isolated in a new application. But if I delete the virtual directory application, I will use the website bin, and the older AjaxControlToolkit too. Damned!

My need: Use a newer version of AjaxControlToolkit and get the same session (in a InProc mode) of the Web site.

At last, I can send information via URL and use a querystring fonction....But...

Best Regards

is session shared within multiple browser windows (not tab)

Hi guys,

Really confused on this... let me explain the scenario.

i have a application on .net 2.0 .

once user is logged in, various session variables are stored for that users profile information (normal stuff). when user open a browser window and after doing some operation, closes the browser window directly.

and then reopen new window and try to access homepage of same application... he is presented with profile of the user which was logged in before (and widnow was shut down)

is this behaviour normal and common across all IE versions?

this behaviour is not consistent.... sometimes, its showing homepage of old user and sometimes its  showing login page (as if session is invalidated)

is there any way to abandon all session if browser window is closed (apart from capturing browser window close event)

hope i get some replies on this...

Where is a document that says Session are shared among tabs???

Hello everyone,

first at all, I know the session is shared among IE tabs, and I know it can be easly tested, but I would like to know where I can find any document (from Microsoft) with such explanation, I hope anybody can help me, thank you in advance.

Session being shared between two separate instances of IE6

I have an issue with an ASP.NET 2.0 application that has got me stumped. The application currently stores everything, including the kitchen sink, in session (not my choice). Part of the application is to notify a user that they have an action to take within the workflow of the application. If they have a browser open, working one entity 1 in the application, and they get an email that they need to take action on another entity within the application, they click on the link within the email, it takes them to the application in a new window. So now we have two browsers open. They take the action on the second entity, close the window, and go back to the first window to continue working. But now they are working on the second entity, not the first one. The second browser overtakes the session of the first browser, even though they are completely unrelated.

Is there some way to restrict this with configuration? If not, what's the best way to have two separate instances of the same browser open without sharing session variables.

Public Shared function doubt????

I am using VB.net/ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000 for a web application.

For populating the dropdowns, I wrote a Public Shared function LoadDDL(), in which I pass the dataset and dropdown name to set.

I have my doubts that this function will produce unexpected results for concurrent users. And will mix the results among sessions because it is a Shared function.

I am confused here. Is it the right way to go?

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Rotor: Shared Source CLI Provides Source Code for a FreeBSD Implementation of .NET

With over 9,000 files, and including some 1300 public classes to pore through, the Shared Source CLI can teach you quite a bit about the internal workings of the CLR. But the sheer amount of source code included can make just starting your exploration a monumental task. This article discusses some of the things you can learn from the source code facsimile of the CLR, like how JIT compilation works. It will also help you understand how to control execution along with debugging and loading classes. A walk through the steps involved in setting up the runtime will let you become familiar with the process.

Shared dataset in SSRS 2008 R2 running on SSAS 2005

I am trying to create a report in SSRS 2008 R2 using SSAS 2005 as a datasource. My dataset has a date parameter. When I create an embedded dataset in my report everything works fine, but when I create a shared dataset with the exact same mdx query, I get the following error: An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report 'xxxx' is invalid. The Value expression for the report parameter 'DateCalendarHierarchy' contains an error: [BC30034] Bracketed identifier is missing closing ']'. Does anybody have any ideas? Is this a bug? Thanks, Louis

Installing Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 on a shared server--supported or not?

Here's the scenario: we have a Web application that needs to open an Excel 2007 file, read the sheet names and pass the sheet selected by a user to a SSIS package for processing on the DB server. During development, we discovered that the Microsoft Access Database engine (Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0) is required for our application to perform these tasks when running on a 64-bit server. Details: ASP.NET 4/VS 2010/SSIS on SQL 2008 R2; 32-bit environments have no issues; 64-bit requires installation of the provider. We followed this link to get the components: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C06B8369-60DD-4B64-A44B-84B371EDE16D&displaylang=en We have installed the components and everything works great in our development and test environments. However, we must deploy to a 64-bit environment that is controlled by our customer's IT group, not by us. They are balking at installing the components because of the following statements that appear on the download page in the "Additional Information" section: "The Office System Drivers are only supported under certain scenarios, including: " Desktop applications which read from and write to various files formats including Microsoft Office Access, Microsoft Office Excel and text files. Deployment of shared data source/data set

Hi, Till SSRS 2008, while deploying reports from BIDS, even the data source is shared, the report deployment used to be successful with out any problem. In SSRS 2008 R2, what I have observed is that if there is a report that we are trying to deploy has a shared data source, then the data source needs to be deployed first. If we are not doing that, then the report deployment through BIDS fails giving an error that the data source is unavailable. Is this a change/enhancement in SSRS 2008 R2 or am I missing something critical? Request for experts advice on this. OOP using shared property to get global like functionality

I'm not sure what forum I should have posed this question too, but hopefully this is a good start: I have a class and I need to create multiple instances of this class. Each of the properties must be accessible from anywhere in the project. So I decided I should make the properties shared. Problem with this then is that these properties change in unison for all instances of the class. So, I figured I would not even make instance of the class. Rather I would make new classes (I only need a few), and have them inherit the base class. Same problem though, the properties still change in unison as they were set to shared in the base class and thus will always be shared it seems. Can anyone think of a clever way around this problem? Doesnt matter to me whether I need to create instances of the classes or multiple classes, I simply need to have multiple copies of the properties in this base class and have them accesible on a global level (without creating a whole lot of redundant code). Any thoughts? Thanks, Sam

MVC2 Could not load file or assembly 'xxxx.Models' shared hosting

Hello,I have an mvc2 site that runs fine locally but when i deploy it to my shared hosting account i keep getting this error.Could not load file or assembly 'AppMVC2.Models, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.I have run Reflector againts the dll to see what dependencies the dll has, I then took each one of the dependant dlls and set them to copy local in the project and deployed them all to the shared hosting account even ones that should be on the server like System.Web. except for mscorlib.dll, but i still get the error.I have also tried to bin deploy and deploy the code files and get the same error.I have seen people write about fusion log but i don't see any examples on how to get this running on shared hosting.Just wondering does anyone else have any recommendations on how to track down the source of this problem?

SvcUtil-generated code or shared interface/data contract assembly?

If you control both service and client is there any benefit in using svcutil.exe to generate client proxies? Or is it better to share interface/data contract assembly between client and service?

Using a shared cache in a Web farm environment for detecting replay attacks in WCF

Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to implement a replay attack detection mechanism with WCF in a web farm scenario. WCF provides such detection mechanism by using a nonce cache. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way to ensure to prevent this attack in a message security and web farm scenario is by using a nonce cache shared across the servers (i.e.: AppFabric distributed cache). In WSE3.0, it used to be possible to provide nonce cache custom implementations http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff647945.aspx but there doesn't seem to be any way to do so in WCF (No configuration options, besides I found with Reflector that the NonceCache class is marked as both sealed and internal..) Any thoughts?
