"Failed to grant minimum permission requests" when building release mode dll

Hi there,I have started to receive a  release mode build failure for which I  would appreciate some advice. The build works fine in debug but sgen fails in release when a dll that contains a web-reference is linking to a c++\cli dll on the network. The debug build links to the same (release mode) c++\cli dll without this problem.I believe this has started since adding the web-reference. Any idea what the work around is?Many thanks.Duncan4>C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\bin\sgen.exe /assembly:"C:\Projects\Forecaster\Source 2.0\GH.Forecaster.IO\obj\Release\GH.Forecaster.IO.dll" /proxytypes /reference:S:\SoftwareUtils\Release\GH.Common\Release\Latest\GH.Common.Unmanaged.dll /reference:S:\SoftwareUtils\Release\GH.Common\Release\Latest\GH.Common.Util.dll /reference:"C:\Projects\Forecaster\Source 2.0\Release\GH.Forecaster.Data.dll" /reference:"C:\Projects\Forecaster\Source 2.0\Release\GH.Forecaster.Util.dll" /reference:S:\External\log4net-1.2.10\bin\net\2.0\release\log4net.dll /reference:"C:\Program Files\NUnit-Net-2.0 2.2.8\bin\nunit.framework.dll" /reference:C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.Data.dll /reference:C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.dll /reference:C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.EnterpriseServices.dll /reference:C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2

Exception Handling: StackFrame Capture not capturing last level method call in release mode

I am trying print the exception details frame by frame along with other debug info (code below). In the code as you can see the DummyCall3 throws and ApplicationException and the expectation is that the stack trace will have information regarding DummyCall3. Below are the behavior I am getting with .NET 4.

  • Using the "Debug" build, when I run it, I get expected results (DummyCall3 > DummyCall2 > DummyCall > RunTest)
  • Using the "Release" build however, the DummyCall3 method is somehow missing from the stack trace. Now I only get (DummyCall2 > DummyCall > RunTest)
  • I add a dummy statement in the DummCall3 method before I throw the exception, and rerun using "Release" mode and now it works as expected with strack trace info (DummyCall3 > DummyCall2 > DummyCall > RunTest)
  • If I switch the framework version to .NET 3.5 it works as expected in both Release and Debug modes?

I would like to know if this behavior is by design or a bug? if it is by design, what was the reasoning behind it. Appreciate any input on this.

How to set different references in debug and release mode

I have a C# application end a C# assembly. I can compile both in release and debug version. In the C# application I'd like to refer the release assembly version in release mode and the debug version for the debug.
Is it possible? In VS 2005 you have just one list of references for both release and debug.

References in debug vs release mode

I am developing a web site in Visual Studio 2008. I have a project for the web application and several class libraries as references. When I add the references I select the file under bin/debug in the class library folder. When changing the project to release mode the references still point to the .dll in the debug folder. Shouldn't this change automatically. How should I add the references so that debug and release are properly referenced?

SMTP not working if I use web deployment package to deploy my app.

Hi all

I use msdeploy to install my web app. deployment package. everything about web app works, but find out email was not working.

I checked telnet smtp is running.

I debug the project, and it was sending out email too.

So my solution was upload the whole project (not complied) to wwwroot, and email works too. Thats why I assume the deployment cause the problem.

at last, I also tried to copy the web deployment web.config to replace the project's web.config, and the email also work, so it wasn't the web.config problem.

Could anyone tell me whats going on?

This is my Code

            CheckBox chk = (CheckBox)row.FindControl("CheckBox2");
            if (chk.Checked)
                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("http://TestServer/ReportServer");
                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = @"/Tavern/StudPaymentReport";
                ReportViewer1.ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Remote;
                ReportParameter[] rptParams = new ReportParameter[1];

                rptParams[0] = new ReportParameter("ClientID", GridView1.DataKeys[row.RowIndex].Value.ToString());

Are You Protected?: Design and Deploy Secure Web Apps with ASP.NET 2.0 and IIS 6.0

Ensuring the security of a Web application is critical and requires careful planning throughout the design, development, deployment, and operation phases. It is not something that can be slapped onto an existing application. In this article, Mike Volodarsky outlines best practices that allow you to take advantage of the security features of ASP.NET 2.0 and IIS 6.0 to build and deploy more secure Web applications.

Office 2003: Secure and Deploy Business Solutions with Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office

Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System is a new technology that brings the advanced features of Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework to applications built for Microsoft Office Word 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003. Deploying solutions built with this technology requires that you understand how runtime security is enforced in managed applications and how to configure users' systems to run your solutions without introducing security holes.To promote that understanding, this article will demonstrate how to establish trust, explain policy considerations and permissions, and explain what trusted code is all about. Secure assembly deployment is also covered in detail.

SSRS 2005 "Mixed" Authentication Mode

I have a web application where users can authenticate using either SiteMinder or Windows domain accounts.  This is actually configured as two separate virtual directories within IIS 6.  Both applications need to use the same instance of SSRS.  Is it possible to configure the SSRS web application so that if a user is authenticated by SiteMinder it impersonates a Windows account, but if they are already Windows-authenticated that account is used instead?

Setting accessibility mode for multiple web applications

We have a SharePoint farm consisting of 5 web applications. These are tied together through branding and a custom sitemapprovider which present the farm as a single environment to end users. Our visually disabled users however have to enable the accessibility mode for each web application. Which is a nuisance, ideally they would only have to enable once for the complete farm. Does anybody have a solution for this problem.

Reg: Turn on more accessible mode & Skip to main content link message on Infopath2007 browser form

I have a infopath 2007 browser enabled form with c# code behind . The Infopath form is embeded\hosted in to a custom layouts page (.aspx) on MOSS 2007. The issue is when users use keyboard to fill the form, they often use <TAB> & <Enter> keys. So when they are using the tabbing at one location in the form, I have a "Contact selector" field, I enter a name & then hit <TAB> key the focus now comes to "name cheker" I then hit <Enter> key, I hit <TAB> again, the focus now comes to a button named "Accept", I hit <Enter> key & a filed below is populated with the values from user profile service. Now when I hit <TAB> I expect the focus should now come to that automatically populated field below the "Contact selctor". Because Infopath assings the tab order by default form top to bottom & left to right and I havent changed that default tab order.

But, the focus moves to top of the webpage with a clickable link to "Turn on more accessible mode" I hit tab one more time & the link on top changes to "Skip to main content". This bheaviour does not seem to be happning in other form controls when they hit <Tab>, <Enter>. There are couple of areas on the infopath form where I have such a controls (layed ou
