How do i insert javascript into a .NET masterpage ?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have 3 purely client side javascript with no value input requirement and i want it to be placed in the masterpage. I do not want to place the javascript codes into a .js file and link from the masterpage, therefore all the javascript codes reside on the masterpage itself. The javascript codes are added this way, do kindly tell me if i've added them wrong.

System.Text.StringBuilder strHTMLHeaderLinks = new System.Text.StringBuilder();

MasterPage CSS JavaScript

I would like to add references to .JS files and .CSS files declaratively in my masterpage load event so that any contentpage anywhere in the project(any folder) can use it. In this way i can call the JS function or reference the cssClass in the contentpage control without having to make any particular reference to the JS file or CSS file in the ContentPage.

if possible could someone paste example.

Thanks

C# Insert string from code behind to javascript function

Hi I am using the FullCalendar plugin and I am wanting to load events from the db to the page.

In my codebehind I have a string built up of the events which need to be included.

And I need it to be inserted into the javascript function in the position shown below:

Any help???

For example:

C#
string Calevent = "{ title: 'Click for Google', start: new Date(y, m, 28), end: new Date(y, m, 29),url: 'http://google.com/'}";

JS
$(document).ready(function() {

        var d = date.getDate();
        var m = date.getMonth();

                center: 'title',
                right: 'month,agendaWeek,agendaDay'

Acess controls on ContentPages via Javascript by MasterPage

I need my MasterPage to be able to get ControlIDs of Controls on ContentPages, but I cannot
use <%= xxx.CLIENTID%> as it would return an error as the control(s) might not be loaded by the contentplaceholder.
Some controls have a so called BehaviourID, which is exactly what I would need as they can be directly accessed with the ID:
[Asp.net does always create unique IDs, thus modifies the ID I entered]
Unfortunately I need to access

ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript Snippet Support (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

This post covers another useful improvement in VS 2010 - HTML/ASP.NET/JavaScript snippet support. Snippets allow you to be more productive within source view by allowing you to create chunks of code and markup that you can quickly apply and use in your application with a minimum of character typing.

Visual Studio has supported the concept of "snippets" for VB and C# in previous releases - but not for HTML, ASP.NET markup and JavaScript. With VS 2010 we now support snippets for these content types as well.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Insert value using Table Value Functions

a real gem in Sql Server 2008. mostly people still using Stored procedure may be they shifted to SQL Server but they are not using TVF right now.

Insert Rows with a GridView

In ASP.NET version 1.x, I used the footer on the DataGrid control to insert new rows by placing a series of TextBox, DropDownLists, CheckBoxes etc. controls on it and then handling a save button. This also works with the GridView in version 2.0 but with one major exception: if your data source is empty, the GridView will hide your footer (and header) and only display the EmptyDataText.

Ajax Enabled Gridview using JavaScript in ASP.NET

Before explaining the article, I would like to thank all readers who read my article and voted for it. Your appreciation for my article gives me strength to write more good articles. Hope in future I will get your valuable comments and suggestions. Now I won't waste your time and come back to the topic. I have written this article on 'Ajax Enabled Gridview Using JavaScript in ASP.NET'. In this article, I will show you how to make a Gridview using a simple HTML table, JavaScript and XML HTTP for Ajax call without using any ASP.NET control.

GridView Javascript Click Row and Ajax

This article shows 2 common tasks with the ASP.NET GridView: Binding a List (generic) of objects as DataSource and on clicking a row, getting the values of the selected row by a javascript function. In the example a List with User-objects is displayed. On clicking a row containing the data of a User-object, the Id of the object is used to get the address of the user by an Ajax-call and display it in a details-field.

Combine, minify and compress JavaScript files to load ASP.NET pages faster

Websites are getting more interactive these days and most of this interactivity comes from JavaScript. People are using different JavaScript libraries and frameworks to make their websites more interactive and user friendly.

SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() returns -1 when doing Insert / Update / Delete

Sometimes you end up with a return value of -1 when using the SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery method.

Why is that?

Well, the ExecuteNonQuery method is there for statements for changing data, ie. DELETE / UPDATE /INSERT, and the returned value are the number of rows affected by that statement.

When checking the documentation we can see that there are some conditions that return -1.

For UPDATE, INSERT, and DELETE statements, the return value is the number of rows affected by the command.

When a trigger exists on a table being inserted or updated, the return value includes the number of rows affected by both the insert or update operation and the number of

rows affected by the trigger or triggers. For all other types of statements, the return value is -1. If a rollback occurs, the return value is also -1.

how to impose javascript event processing?

If I have some form control like textbox and I want the event handler to be located in the html instead of at the server side, how to do that? Of course I can copy paste javascript code in the aspx file. But is it possible to do that using some object oriented approach (ie programmatically in the code behind)?

Thanks
