Updateprogress - possible to only cover the updatepanel posting back?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Anyone knows how to do this? I have three distinct updatepanels on my page, and they're all unrelated. If possible, I would like the user to be able to interact with the other updatepanels while one is refreshing, or at least show which one is refreshing by only covering this with a div+animated gif.

UpdateProgress with a dummy updatepanel not working

I have a Submit button and some functionality like updating DB and fetching next page in the button click event. This process takes a long time and I want to display a message saying "Progress...." right after clicking the botton. I want to do the same in 20 other pages. So, best way to do it wd be to put the modalpopup MPE or an Updateprogress in a usercontrol or in master page. I first tried putting both of these on the page itself to test and see and neither worked.

I tried using Update progress control with a dummy updatepanel and giving the Submit button as Asyntrigger to the dummy updatepanel. I have also tried using MPE but it didnt work either. Below is an example of what i did..

<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat=server><contenttemplate><triggers><asyntrigger ID= "Submit"> /> /> />

<asp:updateprogress ID="Progress1" unat=server AssociatedUpdatePanelID="UpdatePanel1"><Progresstemplate>Progress.... />/>

<asp:button ID= "Submit" runat=server >

I have nothing for updateprogress in code behind. Am i missing or doing somethign wrong here? Any help would be appreciated.

Posting back a disabled button

Folks, I have a control which inherits from LinkButton and I'm trying to make sure that the user cannot cause mayhem by performing multiple postbacks.  That seemed an easy enough challenge, so I have this code [snippet] on the client:

ButtonClicked: function () {
    if (this._DisableOnClick == true) {
        this.get_element().disabled = 1;
        this.get_element().style.cursor = 'wait';
    else {
        alert('Posting back');

The alert is of course only there for debugging.  If the DisableOnClick value is false, then I see the "Posting Back" alert and, when I click ok, the postback occurs - all good.

If the DisableOnClick value is true, then the "button" gets disabled and the cursor turns into an hourglass - again good.  But the postback doesn't happen - not good.  I assume that the ASP client code is trying to help by preventing the postback when it sees that the link is disabled.

So, how can I either:

  • Persuade the LinkButton to postback even though it has just been disabled; or
  • [probably better] Get my client code to execute immediately after the postback code rather than before.

UpdatePanel - UpdateProgress only displays on initial postback

I'm having a somewhat odd issue, I'll do my best to explain it.

In a nutshell I have an UpdatePanel with an UpdateProgress item, first postback checks for warnings, if there are any they will be be displayed to the user as a JavaScript 'confirm' box. If the user clicks OK the next postback occurs to commit the change.

The UpdateProgress loading notification appears on the first postback but not on the second, even though both of them function correctly.  The buttons that trigger both postbacks are async postback triggers in the update panel, and both are inside the ContentTemplate.

It's not a huge problem, but it causes some confusion, has anybody ever seen this issue before?

jQuery modified ListBox not posting back modified values

Hi everyone,

I have an ASP.Net ListBox that I'm trying to populate via jQuery, using the following snippet:

        $("#MyList_btnAddAll").click(function(e) {
        $('#MyList_lstAll option').appendTo('#MyList_lstSelected');

The code has two ListBoxes in fact, one a "source" and the other a "destination".  As you can tell above the ListBoxes are MyList_lstAll and MyList_lstSelected.  These are rendered in the browser as <select> elements, as you'd expect.

The jQuery is working great, the items are moving from one ListBox to the other, the DOM is updated but when I submit this form (not using jQuery), the ListBoxes don't reflect this change on postback.

I realize my modifications via jQuery aren't available in ViewState but I thought since the DOM was updated these changes would be part of the postback data?  But in the codebehind after postback the ListBox contents haven't changed.  Does anyone know what might be going on and what I can do about it?  Many thanks.

Gridview in Updatepanel + back button

Cascading dropdown not posting back even though autopostback=true?

I have the following code:

<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCountries" AutoPostBack="true" runat="server">
<cc1:cascadingdropdown ID="cddCountries" runat="server" Category="Country" Enabled="True" LoadingText="loading" PromptText="choose country"
    ServiceMethod="GetCountries" ServicePath="geolocation.asmx" TargetControlID="ddlCountries">

code behind
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
End Sub

Private Sub ShowSearchResults()

End Sub

Why is the ShowSearchResults method not called when I change a value in the ddlCountries dropdown, even though I have autopostback="true" on it.

How do hand code UpdatePanel and UpdateProgress

I'm creating a mobile adapter and need to enclose everything inside an update panel and I need to hand code adding the controls to the page. I also need to have an updateprogress control

I've got a vague idea on the update progress, since it doesn't have a contenttemplate - - but not the rest

anyone know how to do this?

Problem in AJAX enabled pages when submitting or posting back

Hi people,

Imagine a simple page containing these controls:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">
    <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
        <div id="testDIV">
            <div style="background-color:#DDDDDD">
                <br />
                <asp:Label runat="server" Text="First" ID="Label1"></asp:Label>
                <br />
                <br />
                <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text

All TextBox controls in ASP.NET UpdatePanel won't accept any input after post-back

 My code behind is VB.NET. I use ASP.NET UpdatePanel like the following. However, after the post-back, all textbox in UpdatePanel won't accept any input, except when I move the mouse over and click on the TextBox.

  • Here's why I use UpdatePanel:

    During the post-back, after inserting data into DB, set all TextBox text property to String.Empty

    After the form is submitted, the Panel pStudent should be refresh , not the entire page

    and the TextBox txtId is set in focus again.

It's very strange that this happened to me today. I used UpdatePanel before many time I never had such problem.

Can anyone show me why  all TextBox controls in UpdatePanel won't accept any input after the post-back even though the textbox is focused , only when you move mouse click in them?

    <asp:UpdatePanel ID="upPOS" runat="server">
            <asp:Panel ID="pStudent" runat="server" CssClass="InContentInfoLight"
        DefaultButton="btnSubmit" GroupingText="Cafeteria - POS">
                <br />
                <div class ="divleftcolumn-six">
                    ID Number :
                    <asp:TextBox ID

XML reponse keeps posting back same result

Hello, I would like some help with my XML code. So far, I got my code to submit a query that returns a numeric value, which is good. However, when I try and submit another entry it keeps showing the first result all the time.

  var xsi = XNamespace.Get("http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance");
            var xmlRequest3 = new XElement("FindPartnerContactsAction", new XAttribute(XNamespace.Xmlns + "xsi", "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"), new XAttribute(XNamespace.Xmlns + "xsd", "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"),
                                                    new XElement("CompanyName", CompanyName),
                                                    new XElement("IntegrationLoginId", UserName),
                                                    new XElement("IntegrationPassword",Password),
                                                     new XElement("CompanyId", contactCompanyId),

                                                    new XElement("Filter", new XAttribute(xsi + "type", "QueryOrExpression"),
                                                                 new XElement("Left", new XAttribute(xsi + "type", "QueryLik

Post back puzzle

Hi, I have a website where the user makes a selection from a combo box and it then fills a couple text boxes with text based upon the selection. I'm sure as you know it could take a second for the text to appear in the text box due to the post back. I know there is no way to make it instantanious, so what I would like to do it fill the text box with somthing like "Loading Info..." so the user does not type in it while the information is loading.

If you would like to see what I mean please go to this page: www.epiclinks.com/create.aspx and mess around with the combo boxes and You'll see what I mean.

What I would like to do is have it do a post back to write "Loading Info..." and then do another post back to fill it in based upon their selection. How would I do this?

I'm up for anything, so if you have a better solution than that please let me know.

UpdatePanel is not a known element - message when upgrading to 1.0 ajax

It worked on one of my old pages.  I change the web.config, renamed all the <asp.

On some aspx page it doesn't recognize the updatepanel.  It only does on one page.  If I create a new aspx page with a different name - then it works.

Should I just create a new web project ajax - then copy all my code into there?  Or is there a way to get those old pages to recognize the new ajax controls?

Trouble with UpdateProgress showing...

Recently I converted a project to VS.NET2010 and ASP.NET 4.0 (not convinced this is the problem, but regardless this is when the problem began) and now I am having an issue with an AJAX UpdateProgress showing. Here is the abrriviated code:

   <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanelPostPageLoad" runat="server">
         <asp:Timer ID="tmrPostPageLoad" Enabled="false" Interval="100" OnTick="PostPageLoad_LoadData"
         <asp:Timer ID="tmrPostPageLoadPt2" Enabled="false" Interval="1" OnTick="PostPageLoad_LoadDataPt2"
         <%--Placing the UpdateProgress inside the UpdatePanel targeted--%>
         <asp:UpdateProgress ID="UpdateProgressPostPageLoad" runat="server" DisplayAfter="0" AssociatedUpdatePanelID="UpdatePanelPostPageLoad">
                       Updating blah blah....

Problems posting to a package

Hey Y'all

I'm currently creating a program that accesses a mysql package to add data to a few tables.  I'm currently getting an error that says  "

ORA-01403: no data found
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 42
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 177
ORA-06512: at line 1

These lines are

and 177:add_team_members(V_PROJECT_ID, V_START_DATE, v_FISC_YEAR, V_MEMBERS ,V_NUM_MEMBERS,'add');

Checking these variables in my asp.net page they are all receiving parameters.

Is there a  way to see what the database is actually receiving from the asp.net page?

Or is there another thing to be looking at?

Posting data to ASMX and return Object for jQuery

I am using fluent NHibernate with WebForms and I am trying to build a page where I allow a user to post a status update on their profile page and I a using a .asmx WebService to post the data to the database and then returnig a StatusUpdate instance to the page to be used by jQuery. I have a couple problems.

1) First off when I return a string from the WebService(i was testing) the textbox where the user enters their status doesnt empty the contents. And since the page doesnt refresh even if I manally clear out the textbox and put in something else, it still posts the previous status to the database again. How do I fix this?

2) Secondly, when I return the StatusUpdate Object from the Webservice I cant the results to display anything. Like I sad, Im using jQuery to make an AJX call to the WebService.

Here is my code:

User Profile Page:

Status: <asp:Label ID="status" runat="server"></asp:Label><span style="font-size:.7em;"><asp:Label ID="statustime" runat="server"></asp:Label></span><br />
<textarea id="statusBox" rows="3" cols="40"></textarea><br />
<input type="button" value="Update Status" onclick="SetStatus(); return false;

Security negotiation failed because the remote party did not send back a reply in a timely manner. T
