GridView split over multiple columns

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a project where I need the one datagrid displaying all values on the one screen, thus I don't have paging enabled.

Is there a way to get a gridview to 'split' over two columns?

ie instead of having

|<- column 1 ->|<- column 2 ->|<-button->|

item 1

Item 30

|<- column 1 ->|<- column 2 ->|<-button->|<- column 1 ->|<- column 2 ->|<-button->|

Item 1                                                            Item 16

Item 15                                                          Item 30

How to split columns in gridview?

Hi there,

I am using Visual Studio 2010 where I have a gridview that displays many columns and because of that the user has to scroll horizontally in order to view the rest of the columns.

Is there a way to split the columns so that each row will contain some columns and some columns underneath them?

For example, I have 10 columns where each row will show 5 columns with their headers and the other 5 columns below with their headers.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Binding the multiple drop down boxes in GridView using JQuery in ASP.NET

Here is the code for binding the multiple drop down boxes in GridView using JQuery in ASP.NET

We all know that GridView columns can be sorted automatically when SQLDataSource is being used. But what if you are not using SqlDataSource to populate the GridView. Sorting the GridView manually is pretty straight forward task take a look at the code below

How to let user edit selected gridview columns, not entire row

I've got a gridview I would like to let the user edit a couple of columns.  Seems like everything I'm coming across so far makes the entire row editable.

Hopefully the solution isn't too complicated.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Editable multiple nested gridview

Greetings everyone,

I've got this page where I display a 3 level nested gridview. First gridview displays data, 2nd one displays data based on the 1st one's row and 3rd one displays data based on the 2nd gridview. All of this works perfectly, including the edit mode for the 3rd gridview.

The issue comes when I make each gridview collapsible, again, it works fine but when I click on "Edit" on the 3rd gridview all the grids collapse, I can then re-open them and the "edit mode" is still present and I can still save my updated data. But that collapsing thing is quite annoying.

I based a lot of my code from this page: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/webforms/EditNestedGridView.aspx

And I understand how I can fix my issue on a 2 level nested gridview, by simply adding the C# code:

protected void GridView2_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e)
            GridView gvTemp = (GridView)sender;
            gvUniqueID = gvTemp.UniqueID;
            gvEditIndex = e.NewEditIndex;

This makes allows me to save the index and prevent it from collapsing when I'm editing. Unfortunately, because I'm actually editing the 3rd gridview, if I code:

search multiple words into textbox and populate all records in gridview related those keywords

I have a textbox and a gridview which is bound to a table

what I want to achieve is a solution where lets say there are two records - e.g. "1. Book and 2. Red", i want a user to type in those words and the gridview shows the results as followed;

1. Book

2. Red

I have set up the sql data source and everything and my like operator is this...

LIKE '%' + @record + '%'

how can I solve this problem?

Filter search over multiple text columns

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a library that stores information on various cases. The case table has several columns that contain descriptive strings on what happened in the case. I would like to create a single filter that returns all cases where the search string is found in any of the columns. I've looked at Dynamic Data Filtering, but as far as I can tell, the "Contains" filter only allows you to connect to each column individually. Has anyone tried this?

Autocomplete display multiple columns

 Hi --

I have an autocomplete extender working great returning one column and I can also retrieve multiple columns just fine from my stored procedure, but here's what I really need to do:

1. Format the data in the autocomplete extender in the following format:

Location Number
City, State, Zip

2. When the user makes a selection I want only the Location Number to populate the textbox.

I've looked quite a bit on this site and others on how to do #2 and I can't seem to find exactly how this should be done. Is there some javascript that needs to be involved in order accomplish this?

If anyone has done this I would really appreciate an example.

That means the first column will be visible always without any movement. But the first column should move if we use the vertical scroll bar. thanks is advance satish

AutoFilter GridView columns

Are there any good tutorials out there for making a GridView filterable by column within the GridView? For an example of what I mean, consider the jqGrid plugin. http://www.trirand.net/demoaspnet.aspxI don't understand why the native MS GridView has never been updated to include functionality like this...
