SQL Native Client 10.0 for installation failed because product not supported on this operating syste

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hello,

I am trying to install sql native client 10.0 on a users desktop.  I am running sql server 2008 express sp1.  She has windows vista business installed on her machine.

I have done this many times, but for some reason when I try to install sql native client 10.0 on her machine, I receive an error that states "Installation of this product failed because it is not supported on this operating system.  For more information on supported configurations, see the product documentation."

Any insight as to what could be the problem, is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

M. Wilson

Sharepoint SDK Installation - "The installation of this package failed"

I'm attempting to set up a Sharepoint development environment in a local VM. Currently I have installed: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x64 Sharepoint Server 2010 (single server standalone) Visual Studio Professional 2010 When I try and install the SDK I get the dreaded "The installation of this package failed". I have plenty of space on the system volume. Extract from the log: OPatchInstall: Getting the data from the file 'C:\Users\sam.ritchie\Desktop\SharePointPlatformSDK.exe' OPatchInstall: Thrown CDetectionExceptionWin32(0) OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.INERROR' with value '1' OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.CODE' with value '0x0' OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.TYPE' with value 'WIN32' OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.ARG1' with value 'NONE' OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.ARG2' with value 'NONE' OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.ARG3' with value 'NONE' OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.ARG4' with value 'NONE' OPatchInstall: Setting system property 'SYS.ERROR.ARG5' with value 'NONE' OPatchInstall: Done executing action I'm not sure what I'm missing here?

Health Analyzer reports "Product / patch installation or server upgrade required." and I can't seem

The text of the error is: On server SHAREPOINTSERVER, once all required products and/or patches are installed, perform an upgrade by either running PSConfigUI.exe or by executing the command "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures". If a former upgrade attempt has failed, you may need to resolve upgrade specific issues before attempting upgrade again. Refer to the upgrade status page (http://sharepointserver:XXXX/_admin/UpgradeStatus.aspx) for information about current and prior upgrade attempts, and to determine issues that may be preventing upgrade from succeeding. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142700". So I went to the server in question and ran the command line quoted in the error message and then I get this error back: Configuration of SharePoint Products failed. Configuration must be performed before you use SharePoint Products. For further details, see the diagnostic log located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\1 4\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_....log and the application event log. So fine, I look into the event log and get this: Failed to initiate the upgrade sequence. An exception of type System.IO.IOException was thrown. Additional exception information: Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoi

Message: "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Installation Has Failed"

On a Windows 2003 R2 x64 server, I have been unable to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition x64. When running setup.exe, I almost instantaneously receive the following Microsoft SQL Server Setup error:"Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed.SQL Server 2008 Setup requires .NET Framework to be installed."What does not make sense is that I successfully downloaded .NET Framework 3.5 from the Microsoft download site (published 8/11/2008) prior to the SQL Server 2008 installation attempt.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=enI do need to note that a few nights ago, prior to downloading the framework (3.5 SP1), I ran the SQL Server 2008 setup executable. I was prompted that in order to install SQL Server 2008, the setup program needed to first install .NET 3.5 SP1 and Windows Installer 4.5. I let the .NET 3.5 SP1 install run for about 1.5 to 2 hours and cancelled (now I wish I had just let it go).It is my understanding (correct me if I am wrong) that the SQL Server 2008 setup program initially checks for any pre-RTM versions of .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework. If one is found, it is then supposed to guide the user through both the installation of the .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework and Windows Installer 4.5. I have removed .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework (Add/Remove programs) and rebooted. However, upon runni

SQL server client tool installation on windows XP?

Hi My desktop is Windows XP sp3 and have office 2010, sql express 2005 management studio and Visual studeio 2008 sp1 installed.  We have a SQL R2 server installed last week.  I was able to use sql 2005 management studio to connect to the new sql 2008 R2.  Question is when i try to install 2008 R2's client tool using the 2008R2 iso image.  It look for windows installer 4.5 as prerequisite.  It fail in installing windows installer 4.5 with msg saying I am not the administrator and it require administrator right.  But I am logging in as administrator on local pc.  I also confirmed with our IT/Server guys and they confirmed that I have the admin right.  Then, I tried the following steps: a) reboot, log in as administrator locally b) checked eventviewer, no error/warning msg that stand out to me c) turn off symantec antivirus d) download windows installer 4.5 (WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe   - install it locally   - run as administrator to install All the above steps seems not working, I am kind of out of idea.  Could some on please kindly help out.  All I need is the 2008 management studio and profiler install on my PC.  thank you, Ted.

Where is SQL Native Client 10.5.xxxx for Visio 2010

When attempting to use Reverse Engineer tool in Visio 2010 Professional for the Database Model Diagram, selecting SQL Native Client as the data source provider only gives the ODBC SQL Server Native Client as 10.0 (SQL Server 2008). How do I use 10.5.xxxx to connect to a SQL Server 2008 R2 database. Obviously the 10.0.xxxx provider won't understand the newer data types available in 2008 R2.

Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.

Getting some errors after implementing the calendar control.  Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.  Here are some screenshots of the relevant info:   Here's the scenario...  I compile code locally, view the pages in a browser locally, and it all works fine.  Another developer sits down at my machine, logs in with AD account (which create a local profile for his account on my machine), and gets these errors when viewing my locally compiled code.  He then compiles the same code on my machine again just for a test, but still gets the same errors.  Can anyone come up with any good reasons for this behavior?  I put a call into MS and they suggested creating a new profile for the other developer with the errors since this appeared to be profile specific.  Tried doing that with the same results.  Help!

Microsoft.NET version 3.0 Install Error: Installation failed for Windows Communication Foundation. M

Please help! I've been trying for the last day and a half to properly install Microsoft.NET version 3.5 so that I can install TurboTax and do my taxes. I was only on version 1.1. Multiple tries to upgrade to 3.5 was giving me a code 1603 error on install on "Microsoft.NET version 2.0a". I followed advice from forums here and elsewhere to uninstall and reinstall my prior versions. I also used Windows Install Cleanup before reinstalling. I keep getting to the same result when I try to go from version 2.0 to version 3.5. In my last attempt, I went all the way back to version 1.0 and installed each step up to 2.0 SP1 with (allegedly) no problems. This last time I decided to upgrade to 3.0 instead of going right to 3.5. Now I get the following error message: [04/03/10,04:07:14] Windows Communication Foundation: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Windows Communication Foundation.
