SSIS Deployment Reads local Environment Variable and not Server

Hi All, I have an SSIS package that uses an Environment variable to hold the connection string for the local SSISConfiguration table.  This works properly on my local machine.  However, when I import the package to Integration Services(through SSMS) it reads the environment variable from the local machine and not the server it is deployed to.  If I log on to the server remotely and do the same process it uses the the correct environment varible... (SQL Server 2005) Is there a way to deploy the package to the server and get it to use the correct Env variable without having to log-in to the server and import it?  Let me know if anyone is looking for additional information.   Thanks!

Comparing Null Values(from variable) in SSIS

Hi All I need to create a script that checks to see if a variable value is NULL, if it is then it executes the next SQL Task and if not then the package has finished. I have this in a SQL 2000 DTS package script: Function Main() If isnull(DTSGlobalVariables("NextLoadDate")) Then Main = DTSStepScriptResult_DontExecuteTask Else Main = DTSStepScriptResult_ExecuteTask End if End Function As you can see, all I want to do is check to see if a variable is null then don't execute the next task. But i cannot get it to work in a SQL 2005 SSIS package, so far I have created a script and come up with the following: Public Sub Main() If Dts.Variables("NextLoadDate").Value.ToString <> "" Then Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success Else Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Failure End If End Sub Any Ideas? Thanks BigGopher

How to declare a table variable in SSIS and then insert rows into it

Hello everyone,   I'll try to explain my problem as clearly as I can: 1)I have an Execute SQL Task that's inside a Foreach Loop Container. 2)Inside the Execute SQL Task, I have an int OUTPUT column. 3)With each iteration, I need to insert the data from the INT output colum into a table variable. 4)After the Foreach Loop finishes the iterations, I need to use the table variable to create a report based on the data inside.   My question is the following: How can I declare a table variable so that I can do all of the above?   Thank you, CostinP

How do I recover xml from an SSIS String variable?

When I get my resulting xml from a webservice task, the response is not only well formed, but actually valid. When I put it into a string variable for passing it along to the next task in SSIS, the XPATH against it in the XML task it fails because what happens is the XML got munged as it went into a string. All the quotes got escaped and all the linefeeds and newlines ended up as \r\n, etc.

Is there a way to avoid this or recover from this without having to save the xml to file and then load the xml from the file for the next task?

SSIS variable that should contain uniqueidentifier

I am importing data and wand to assign a fixed value to an output col. the fixed value should be a uniqueidentifier maintained in a variable so that it can easely exchange prior to execution. My problem is that I realized that there is no variable type for uniqueidentifier. When trying to store the guid in a string variable and then trying to cast back using a script component i received a casting exception telling me that a string cannot be converted into a guid.

I dont want to use an object type because then i would have to manually read out the variable a execution start.

Does anyone have experience using varialbes and guids?

Thanks a lot

Execute SQL Tast output into a Variable in SSIS

I´m trying to put the count or the max value of an slq statement in to a variable and I´m not able until now.

I have a global variable named vMax and a OLE DB connection to a DB.

The Quiery works fine and a get a result depending of Count or Max from 15000 for Count and 2000849400 for Max.

I tried all Variable types as int16, int32, double,... nothing works and I get allways the same error mesage.

Error: 0xC001F009 at xyz: The type of the value being assigned to variable "User::vMax" differs from the current variable type. Variables may not change type during execution. Variable types are strict, except for variables of type Object.

I tried now everything and I was not able I have now only this execute SQL Task in my project and it does not work.

My goal is to copy all new records from Table1 in to Table2.

So I create an Execute SQL Tast to get the max ID and to use this for a sql command in the OLE DB Source.

Thank you in advance for any help.

SSIS Parent/Child Package variable passing

I have having trouble getting my hands around how to retrieve variables from a parent package.  I read about the Environment variables and Configuration File at the parent package level and the Parent Package variable at the child level.

Here are my questions:

1.  Can you only store/retrieve 1 variable in a config file at a time?

2.  Does the child package have to define the variables and if so, do they have to be the same names as the parent package?

This seems so more more complex then the DTS2000 way of passing variables to and from packages.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

SSIS FTP Task Variable Remote Path invalid

I am working on the SSIS FTP Task that transfer file from one FTP server to local location, rename the file name, and finally transfer the renamed file to another FTP server. So I defined 2 FTP tasks.

For the FTP file receive operation, I need the remote path to be updated by a script and pass to the user define variable. So I set TRUE to IsRemotePathVariable. In the RemoteVariable, I set User::FTPSourcePath where the variable is set in the script with "/DMFTP/filename1.jpg"

For the FTP file send operation, I set TRUE to IsRemotePathVariable. In the RemoteVariable, I set User::FTPDestPath where the variable is set in the script with "/DestFTP/"

After all the setting, the FTP Task box show me the error as "Variable "FTPSourcePath" doesn't start with "/". Another FTP box show me "Variable "FTPDestPath" doesn't start with "/"

Can anyone help me on this problem?? Thanks.

Loading XML File into some XML Variable Using SSIS 2005

I have one xml file in some share network drive which I want to load.

I can load the XML file into XML Source. But Can I save that XML data into some XML variable that I can pass into a stored procedure? if Yes How Can I save the XML into a XML variable in SSIS.

If the above is not possible, I was thinking to pass the XML File path to the stored procedure and from with in the SP I will use "SELECT * FROM OPEROWSET (BULK..." to load the XML into variable and process.

Please advice which method I should opt here if I look into performance and multiuser case?
