WCF interaction with .net 2.0 app

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I have a WCF service (written in .net 4.0). I need to have .net 2.0 client interact with the service. Service is exposing the end point as basicHttpBinding and service metadata has httpGentEnabled to true. I'm able to connect to service in 2.0 using "Add Web Reference" and providing the url ending with ?wsdl. What I'm stuck with is the interaction part. How can I make server call client's method? In order to do that, server has to know some sort of contract that client implements. How can we make server call client to get data?

Speed SQL: Tuning Your Database Calls with Tier Interaction Profiling

Tier interaction profiling (TIP) is a feature of the Visual Studio profiling tools that measures the duration of synchronous calls to ADO.NET-compliant data stores. We'll show you how TIP works and provide some best practices for using TIP to diagnose performance problems in your apps.

System.AddIn, simultaneous multitouch interaction in multiple addins

Hello, I have built an application that is able to load several addins, each having their own process, each sending their own UI onto the application's UI. I now would like to enable simultaneous multitouch interaction in any of these AddIns' UIs. The problem is: when there is multitouch interaction ongoing in one of the addins' UI, the others do not seem to receive any event, even though I try to touch controls in them. My question is: is this even possible in the current form of the framework? Or does the input device (i.e. my touch screen) get somehow "captured" by the currently manipulated UI's process, thus preventing the others from getting any input at all? Antoine

Problems with interaction between MS VS 2010 and MS SQL 2005

This is extremely frustrating.  I had bought MS VS 2005, years ago, and generally liked it.  I installed MS SQL 2005 (developer's edition) and found it easy to work with (though I haven't figured out how to create new login credentials on it - but that isn't a problem in my present context).  It appears to me that my problem is due to the clients for SQL server being incorporated and hidden somewhere inthe interface of MSVS 2010 from being apparently individual programs I am familiar with using. My employer just bought me a new machine (because my existing workstation was too heavily loaded), and required me to install both MS VS 2005 and MS VS 2010.  As part of my installation of MS VS 2005 on this machine, I installed MS SQL Server 2005 (but had forgotten to install teh corresponding clients).  And then I installed MSVS 2010.  When I noticed the clients I was used to  had not been installed, I went to install them and failed with an error message that a more recent version had been installed.  The old machine is runnign Windows XP and the new one is using Windows 7 Pro, if that matters. The problem is that I can not find the equivalent of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio in MS VS 2010.  So I am at loss as to where the tools are in VS2010 to create new databases, tables, &c.  More annoyingly, I can not find the

C# project doesn't work with interaction with Managed C++ library

I have 2 projects in solution:

1. C# WinForms - Exe
2. Managed C++ - DLL

On machine where Visual Studio installed all works, but when i try to run it on Virtual Machine where only .NET framework installed I have following error message:

Print or save several pages without user interaction

Hello! I've run into a huge problem which I can't seem to solve.

I've made an application in C# with a webbrowser that automatically browses several different pages on our internal website. I need my application to be able to either save each page or print each page to a PDF (like with CutePDF, PDFcreator) and set the filename & destination from code. All this without any user interaction - it's kind of a bot to do stuff for us.

I've tried all of the following:

urlDownloadToFile - does not work in this scenario because the URL's that my application goes to are not "real" URL's, as in if you copy & paste the URL to a webbrowser you get re-directed to the home page instead. The pages my application visits are reports generated by setting some values.

EnumWindows & SendMessage - Tried to locate the Save As-dialog and simulate clicks on the Save-button. Spent two days trying to get this to work but I could not. I am a low level programmer who's learning. (=

iTextSharp - Tried to make iTextSharp generate a PDF from the HTML of webbrowser - I failed on this aswell.

I really need the pages visited printed/saved automatically! If someone can provide guidance & code I would be eternally thankful.

Note: Found other threads kinda si

How to add interaction behaviors through code

Client Server interaction - how to run code on the server?

Hi all,

I have code which allows a client console to connect to a server console using .NET Remoting with a shared dll, and then perform some operations. The only problem I'm aving, is that I want the main bulk of the programming logic to be performed on the server itself (within the server class, not the library) - to access the database etc. Eventually the (multiple) Clients and Server application will be on seperate physical machines (for now they are on one). Below is the code I have so far. The server console says "press any key", and the client will say "Name: Test". I want this information to be available on the Server application!!!

The general idea of this set up is to pass the MyObj class between client and server (the client can request a MyObj with data, or it can send it as part of a method param). I then need this class to be available on the Server app where it will retrieve/store the classes' data into a database, and perform additional logic on the data, and then pass it back to the client.
