Exchange Update changed Calendar Functionality

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi All,

After installing Exchange 2010 SP1, it appears that Sharepoint is behaving differently.  When a user edits an instance of a recurring item on a calendar, it treats this as a creation (generates an "added" email and updates the created date/time to the current date/time).

Some users receive these emails and expect that an item was added instead of just being modified (this only applies to the first instance of editing a recurring event instance).  I presume that this is due to the way that recurring events are handled in Exchange 2010?  (probably only differences from the main are stored instead of creating a different object for each instance)

Has anyone found a way to work around this and emulate the old behavior?

Exchange Calendar Overlay Functionality

Hi All,

I have an issue with the Exchange calendar overlay functionality in Sharepoint 2010.
First of all I was surprised that shared calendars weren't supported out of the box, when using the EWS connection and a specific username/password combo to access the shared calendar wouldn't have been to difficult to add to the overlay system. Since I don't have access to the source I haven't bothered to extend the functionality, but provide a custom synchronisation service to fix this for a client.

My issue now though is the current users overlayed calendar, all calendar items are appearing as "Busy" only, with no Title or Subjects visible. Is this a permissions issue? I cannot see any options relating to the current view or in the Calendar overlay settings to chaneg the display format.

Has anyone come across this before??

Many Thanks

Calendar Overlays and Exchange 2010

I'm  trying to setup a Calendar Overlay with Exchange on my project calendar.  I can browse the OWA URL and the Exchange Web Service  (.asmx) in Internet Explorer without any errors.  Both URLs use https and are third-party signed.  After I inupt the URLs into the Overlay config screen and save, Sharepoint attents to retrieve the calendar information and throws the follows error: "Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority" on the calendar screen. Any ideas?

Adding functionality to the Toolkit Calendar Extender

Folks, I have not yet done a deep dive into the Toolkit code.  I need to try and make a couple of changes to the Calendar. The first one feels like an "it can't only be me that needs this" problem.  I have EarliestDate and LatestDate parameters floating around.  The requirement is to prevent the user clicking (ie they display as text rather than hyperlinks) any dates which fall outside of the two date limits.  An extension of that (not essential, more of a luxury) would be to prevent the user moving to months or years where the dates within that month/year are completely outside of the allowable range. The second one relates to when the initial view of the Calendar is Years.  I need to either be able to specify that the initial display starts for a given historical year (without showing that year in the textbox); or [better] to be able to squeeze a larger number of years onto the display, so that the user can move back a greater number of years with fewer clicks. I hope the questions make sense - all pointers welcome. Thanks,  Nick.

Version not changed after installing Cumulative Update

I installed the August Cumulative Update, but the version number didn't update on my system.  The install processed successfully (at least no errors showed up).  How do I confirm the installation?

Thank you.

Exchange 2003 Inbox and Calendar webparts for MOSS 2007

I've created one Inbox and one Calendar wepbart as descibed here:

using  OWAInboxPart and OWACalendarPart (code below).

When deploying them and placing them on the same page, only one of them will show anything. It looks like the last added webpart works, while the other won't.
If any one of them is placed alone on a page, they work as expected.

Does anyone know how to make them work togheter on the same page?

Thank you for your time!

Best regards,
Hans Erik Storeide

update SharePoint calendar while updating Outlook Calendar

Is it possible to synchronize calendars between Outlook and SharePoint such that a user in Outlook can elect, on any given calendar entry, to have that entry post to a SharePoint calendar AT THE SAME TIME?  Our division has a presence on our SharePoint intranet site.  On the site is a calendar that shows vacation time of all division employees.  What we hope to be able to do is that when an employee enters there vacation on their own Outlook calendar, that it updates the Employee Vacation Calendar on the SharePoint site too.

I am aware of the ability to synchronize calendars, and have the SP calendar show up in Other Calendars in Outlook, and then drag a copy from the Outlook calendar to the SharePoint calender as shown here: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/Blogs/GetThePoint/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?List=8d9e2a99-f288-47c2-916b-2f32864f7b82&ID=73&Web=5e4647a0-e7d0-4626-b71c-b1ff06402465, but we are hoping to even eliminate that copying step.

How to judge changed data and update data in database

For my case, I use linq to sql to select data from database.

I want to do the edit fuction which has 3 steps.

1. load all the data first

2. enter the button then save changed content not all to database.

I am totally new to asp.net. Could someone tell me that how to save only changed data using linq?

Thank you

SharePoint 2010 Foundation - Connecting to Exchange 2010 Calendar's

I've got a problem when trying to view additional calendars through SharePoint that my Exchange server has. The error states:

Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'myservername.net'. (1b1a6f32-0128-4676-90a1-9501cc6b9805).

I've tried using direct IP addresses instead for the server name with no joy. If i change the calendar path name to use the OWA extensions as (as below) i receive the same error:

Outlook Web Access URL:

Exchange Web Service URL:

I select that the type of calendar is Exchange based and i am using Exchange 2010 SP1. Both servers are running Server 2008 R2 with the latest service pack. I have tried importing root certificates from Exchange to SharePoint server with no joy. Further, i have managed to get SharePoint to send e-mails interfacing directly with Exchange (to specify site group membership etc) so communication is occuring between the two seperate servers.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Would like to have Outlook group calendar update our SharePoint calendar

I have a group calendar in Outlook and I would like our SharePoint calendar to be automatically updated when changes are made to the Outlook group calendar. Is there a way to do this? Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Sharepoint 2010 Calendar Overlay with Exchange 2007

I'm trying to add calendar overlays in Sharepoint 2010 however the OWA URL's don't seem to work. Everytime I use the following url:

I get an 'Unexpected Error'. After checking through the logs, it seems to be an XML exception.

System.Xml.XmlException: '=' is an unexpected token. The expected token is ';'. Line 1, position 520

The URL's that I'm using were taken from Technet, so I can only assume that they're correct. When I put the same URL's in the brow

Calendar Overlay and Exchange

I'm having issues with Calendar Overlays and Exchange. I try to add an overlay to an already existing calendar (containing Tasks).

For the Outlook web access url the value is: https://mywebsite/owa

for the Exchange Web Service URL it is: http://mywebsite/ews/exchange.asmx

When I try to view the calendar I get the following error:

Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'mywebsite'. (3c7bda6a-4344-47e1-aa35-7210d7df36e4)

After some poking around I found some information about the Root Certificate, so I downloaded that and added it to the Managed Trust in Central Admin.

The Error above still shows up, and I get the following error in my Event Viewer:

Configure My Calendar in SharePoint 2003 and Exchange 2007

We have upgraded Exchange to 2007.  I change the URL on the "My Calendar" page to read http://<server>/owa.  It brings back 404 - File or directory not found.  I have even tried http://<server>/owa/?cmd=contents&module=calendar&view=monthly which works from IE.  It tells me invalid characters.  We will not be upgrading to Sharepoint and Exchange 2010 until second half of next year.  What am I doing wrong?

Bug? AssetURLSelector functionality changed in SharePoint 2010...

After upgrading a site from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010, we have encountered some problems with the AssetURLSelector which is a graphical pop-up control for browsing files and lists etc. within the specific site collection.

In SP2007 when selecting a list with this selector, the following URL was returned: /se/top/events/Lists/Eventslist/AllItems.aspx
This is fully compatible with the SharePoint function SPWeb.GetListFromUrl.

In SP2010 when selecting the same list, the AssetURLSelector instead for some strange reason returns the URL on the following format: http://localhost:82/se/top/events/Lists/Eventslist

Difference 1: The complete URL including domain is returned. This generates errors in our SharePoint solution since the domain differs between for instance authoring and live environments. The relative path is instead needed here as it used to be in 2007...

Difference 2: The AllItems.aspx is excluded if you make the selection from the tree-view to the left which causes an exception when using the GetListFromUrl

Calendar Extender Hijacks Submit Functionality

I have the typical date text box and I added the AJAX.NET Toolkit Calendar Extender to this text box.  However, whenever the user presses the enter key, instead of the page being submitted the calendar control gets displayed.

If I remove the calendar extender the enter button works like it should (the page gets submitted).

What is going on and can I get my enter key submit functionality back?

How to update my app when system.printers changed

I want to show printer status in my app, on my mainform...

Its ok..

I use this code:

  status_printer.Text = "Printer: " & PrintDocument1.PrinterSettings.PrinterName

I want to change this when system printer changed... How to i add this in my app or how to reload my mainform when system printers settings changes...

Thank you for your helps and understandings even my english.

The number of calls to the Changed event for a single update in the data exceeded the maximum limit.

Dear All,

We have hit the big limit of 16 change events per single update.  Is there any way to extend this to say 25, we are not using infinate loops or anything.

Alternatively, is it possible to disable some change events when values are updated?

Can you use calendar overlays to show two Exchange 2003 conference room calendars in Sharepoint 2010

I want to use the calendar overlays to show an aggregate view of multiple conference room calendars on a single sharepoint 2010 foundation webpart.  The calendars are resource calendars held on an SBS 2003 server.  Is this possible?  I get a 404 error if I try to navigate to https://myowaserver.contoso.com/EWS/exchange.asmx with IE.  If I try the calendar I get the  following error:

Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'myowaserver.contoso.com'

These are the entries in the overlay calendar:

is SBS 2003 not supported?
