SharePoint 2007 and SRS 2005 SP3 Version Missmatch

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hello,

I'm trying to make our SQL Reports available on our SharePoint report center. I have SQL 2005 (sp3) report server that resides on the same server than our SharePoint 2007 server.

However when configuring the Report Server, we got stuck at the step "Grant Database Access". For some reason we keep getting error message "Named instance not found". Please see screenshot:

I'm suspicious that there is a version mismatch between the report server and the Reporting Services Add-in. Our SQL Report Server is 2005 SP3 and the Report Server version is 9.3.4035. However the  SRS 2005 Add-in for SharePoint version that I just installed is only version 9.00.3294.00.

Is there a more updated version of the SRS 2005 Add-in for Sharepoint?... or is SRS 2005 with SP3 is not compatible with the Add-in?

Please let me know what would be the best solution for

Problem Integration SQL Reporting Service 2005 and SharePoint 2007

Hello, I'm trying to make our SQL Reports available on our SharePoint report center. I have SQL 2005 (sp3) report server that resides on a different server than our SharePoint 2007 server. So in our SRS Configuration Tool, we changed the database mode for SharePoint integration (before, we only had it in native mode), so we created a new database for this SharePoint Integration type. Next, I installed the Report Server Add-in for SharePoint 2007 server and it was successful. However when configuring the Report Server, we got stuck at the step "Grant Database Access". I heard that the problem is because the mismatched version between the Report Server Add-in in SharePoint and the SQL RS version... but I don't think this is the case for us. Do we need to install WSS on our Report Server too?     Another question: We already integrate our Report Server with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. However I see that when the Report Server is in the SharePoint Integration mode, all the reports in CRM don't work (because Report Manager is no longer available in this mode). Do you think it would be the best practice to install a copy of Report Server instance in our SharePoint 2007 server? Thank you, greatly appreciate all your hel

How to configure Sharepoint 2007 Reporting Services 2005 with NLB sharing same RS database

Hello, I'm trying to configure RS using two FE and a single SQL database in sharepoint integrated mode. At first i was getting an error about version of reporting server wouldnt support scale-out configuration, so i upgraded RS Instances in both FE's to 2005 Ent Ed. and re-installed sharepointRS_Addin in both FE servers and successfully initialized both with the reporting services configuration tool. after successfully granted database access to both FE's using CAS.  if i browse to                    http://WFE1:port/ReportServer/                    or                    http://WFE2:port/ReportServer/                    the database content is listed in browser.   if i browse to:                    http://NLB-sitename:port/ReportServer                    the database content gets listed also, tho it seams to list random conten

Cannot Restore Backup from Sharepoint Server 2007 to Sharepoint Server 2010 Trial Version

After installing the trial version of Sharepointn 2010 I wanted to restore my Sharepoint 2007 sites to it but received the following error:  "The site collection could not be restored. If this problem persists, please make sure the content databases are available and have sufficient free space." I went on to create a new content database in sharepoint 2010 but it still did not work. The old database i.e the one used by the sharepoint 2007 server is SQL 2005. During the installation of the sharepoint 2010 version I selected SQl Server Express for the database. Is there any specifics for migrating from MOSS 2007 to sharepoint 2010? Thanks for helping

version dependency while backup restore of SharePoint 2007 Site Collections

hi all

I am aware of a version dependency on the stsadm -o backup/restore operation.

But will the same dependency exist for a content DB backup restore..

i.e. for example will we able to restore a content DB backup taken from a server with version say 12.0.0.7777 to a server with say 12.0.0.6666 assuming that the versions of SQL is the same in both cases.

Will the version difference in SQL create issues

Thanks in advance

Moving Sharepoint 2007 from Virtual Server 2005 to Hyper-V

I'm a little unsure of the exact sequence to move my Sharepoint 2007 Virtual server from VS2005 to Hyper-V.  In my enviroment, my sharepoint machine and SQL machine are on 2 different boxes.  SQL 2005 is on Hyper-V and Sharepoint is on Virtual Server 2005.  Do I shutdown the SQL VM before I move Sharepoint???   Will the new VM and SQL sync back up without any help??

Also, what happens to the SQL database if the new Sharepoint VM (on Hyper-V) has issues or problems??  Does that make my SQL server

out of sync with my old Sharepoint VM???  I have done multiple moves between VS2005 and Hyper-V so I really familiar with the process.

I usually keep the old VM around for a while after moving just in case there is a problem.   I can always blow away the new VM and crank up the old.   Viola!  I'm back to square one.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Brian

How to add a Database Connection on Sharepoint Designer 2007 to access SQL 2005 tables?

I've tried and looked on many sites with different solutions for which non of them resolved my issue. I've a blank Sharepoint site and want to view data from an SQL DB. It says that a Server Error occurred and that the Data Retrieval Service didn't worked out while listing the DB's.

I tried using the 3 methods... using the also the connection string in different ways... when I do it using VB, Office and Java... I can see the data from that DB... why on Sharepoint Designer it doesn't? It supposed to be more easier than other tools.

I'm really desperate. Any help is very welcome.

Thanks,

Upgrade from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 from SharePoint 2007 SSRS 2005 integrated mode

I"m attempting to upgrade from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 R2 x64 Enterprise on a server running Windows Server 2003 x64 Enterprise, SharePoint 2007 Enterprise, and SQL Server 2005 and SSRS 2005 Enterprise running in integrated mode.

I installed the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Technologies from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=35c3a13f-4b5e-4d4a-86e4-07ee307b9638&displaylang=en.

When attempting to install Report Builder 2.0, I get the error "Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint products and technologies is not installed."

When I try to run a report (existing 2005 reports already deployed), I get the error: "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." The log has repeating ReportingServicesService.exe errors: #20015: Cannot open "Resources.en-US.resx": no such file or folder, and: Localized resource for token 'ManageDatasetCaching_Desc' could not be found for file with path: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\ReportServer\ItemCustomActions\ecbExtension.xml" among other things.

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

SharePoint 2007 Workflows - Things to Consider Before You Start

SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) utilizes the Workflow Foundation (WF) to enable workflows on lists and content types. But before you start doing cartwheels there are few things you should know before you get started. The experiences I'll be discussing are not from book smarts but from building real MOSS solutions that are in production today.

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).
