Problems to connect to sharepoint server from another computer

recently i developed a webservice in Visual Studio 2008 that connects to Microsoft office sharepoint server 2007, i've already have both the WS and the SharePoint server deployed in the same IIS, and when i create a client to that webservice that its on the same machine that the iis, it works perfectly.

but the problem comes when i run this client from a different instance or machine, i'm not able to connect to the SharePoint server, i'm wondering if there is a configuration that i'm missing.

this is my web.config from my webservice:

<?xml version="1.0"?>

Note: As an alternative to hand editing this file you can use the

web admin tool to configure settings for your application. Use

the Website->Asp.Net Configuration option in Visual Studio.

A full list of settings and comments can be found in

    machine.config.comments usually located in

Problems when deploying sequential workflow with association Infopath form of sharepoint 2010 using

I’ve create a workflow project with infopath in it. And I get the error

“Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': Unable to locate the workflow's association data. To restore the association data to the workflow, restart the workflow settings wizard by selecting the workflow node in Solution Explorer and then clicking the ellipsis button (…) on one of the properties in the Properties window that has an ellipsis button.”

I'd really appreciate of any help.

Grab a web-page from sharepoint and save to my computer?

We maintain a server-list which is business-critical for us at work. This list is at Sharepoint.

However, in case of disaster we would need a copy of this list instant available for us in an easy-to-get format. Are there any programs or scripts (any format) out there that can save a web-page to a file?

Sharepoint site by something other than computer name: port number

I am quite new to sharepoint and like what I see so far, but I am having major problems getting a site by a domain other than http://computername:portnumberto work for me.

For example.  Lets say my computer name is sharepoint server and I want to create a web application and collection by the name of mysite.mysite.com.  The mysite.mysite.com site creates fine and shows up in IIS fine.  I create a host file entry for mysite.mysite.com and point it to my server.  When I try and browse to the site http://mysite.mysite.com I get challenged for authentication.  If I ping the site it is pinging the correct server. I put in the correct username and password, but I am unable to login.  If I create a site that is just the computer name and a random port number I am able to log in.

I figure I am missing something simple, but I have tried to research this for several hours and have gotten no where. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I would also like to add that I would like to make serveral sites that are running over port 80 by using host headers...if that changes anything.

Programmatically submit Infopath Forms to the Sharepoint Library from client computer

Hello. I have a task to programmatically sumbit/update/delete infopath forms (from .NET console application) to Sharepoint server 2007. The application must work from client computers (without Sharepoint installed). Therefore I've decided to use Sharepoint web services (Lists.asmx), but after some time of investigation I've figured out that I can't work with Forms Library via Lists.asmx service. Please, advice me the most optimal solution. Some choices that I see:

- use some another web service to work with "Forms Library"

- use "List" (instead of "Forms Library") on Sharepoint (am I right, that I can submit/update/delete forms as file attachments? Am I right that this could be achieved with UpdateListItems/AddAttachment methods of Lists service?)

- implement a server and client applications to use Sharepoint Object Model on server side

Please, advice me the right solution. Thank you.

Unable to access SharePoint via VPN when using a home computer but ok when using work laptop

I have posted about this issue before regarding accessing SharePoint via VPN from a home computer and someone suggested that the issue might be with VPN or network. The strange thing is that I am able to access SharePoint via VPN from work laptop, but when I connect to VPN from my personal laptop and try to access SharePoint I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage". Also, if I try to access the SharePoint site using the IP address of the server, I get a login windows and I login using domain\username and my password and I get page "Oops! Internet Explorer could not find ibsharept".

From my home laptop I am able to ping the server using the IP address but not using the server name, while from work laptop at home via VPN I am able to ping server using both IP and name.

I am the Admin and I am not able to figure out the problem. I am not sure if the issue with trust or network or something else since I am able to access it from work laptop when at home via VPN.

I really appreciate if someone can assist in this matter.

How to transfer files between computer and mobile device using bluetooth

What is Bluetooth? How can I have it on my computer?

Bluetooth wireless technology is a communication technology that allows two devices to communicate wirelessly. Most of the notebooks are nowadays equipped with bluetooth. For those notebooks or computers that don't, you can use a bluetooth dongle to add the functionality and it just costs you around $5. Although higher price range bluetooth dongles are available but it makes no sense of buying them if you just plan to connect your mobile device to the computer. Look for one that has Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR (Enhance Data Rate) supporting speeds of upto 3Mbps and with Vista support. You can easily have one of that kind in just $5.

Setting up bluetooth to work on your computer

Just Insert the bluetooth dongle in the USB.
It should get detected by your Operating System and should be ready to use. In case it is just detected as a new hardware, you need to install drivers for it that came with your bluetooth dongle (You can try Google to find the drivers).
Once drivers are installed, a bluetooth notification icon will appear in your system tray.
Right Click on it to access Settings (This may vary with your bluetooth dongle).
Make sure you have turned Discovery On (It allow others to see your computer).
Switch On the bluetooth on the mobile device.

SharePoint's Sandbox: Developing, Deploying and Monitoring Sandboxed Solutions in SharePoint 2010

The challenge in SharePoint development has always been the balance between creating and deploying solutions that you can trust not to damage or impair a SharePoint farm. A new feature in SharePoint 2010, called Sandboxed Solutions, enables farm administrators to feel comfortable that the SharePoint farm is safe, gives site collection administrators the authority to manage applications in their site collection, and provides developers with the flexibility to create solutions they know will be deployed in a safe and rapid manner.

Trying to launch a .exe file on my local computer from intranet site.

I have been told I can launch a local program on my PC from my intranet site but it has to be done with Active X or vbscript and not javascript.  I found the following little sample html code that will launch notepad.  However, I cannot figure out how to put this in a button, etc., within my aspx or code behind to execute it.  Does anybody have any idea how to do this?  I have a lot of javascript code I am launching urls with and I have even tried using that but again, I have been told that to do it client side it needs to be vbscript or something like this.  Any ideas?

Redirect to Security Questions if Site accessed from unrecognized computer?

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and i'm using the Membership Provider.  I have the need to do similar to some banking sites. Baically I need to track "authorized" computers/ip's for a user.  If the user accesses the site form a recognized Computer/IP then the user is allowed into the app after successful login.  If the computer/IP is not recognized I need to redirect them to a screen to answer the security question setup in fhte Membership Provider.

Has anyone done anything like this or can anyone point me to any examples?  I did a search, but can't seem to find anything.

My idea is to maintain a list of authorized computers/IP addresses and check them on initial login.  If the IP address isn't found I can redirect them to the questions.  My concern is that they are then actually authenticated and could enter any of the site URL's as an authenticated user.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

Deploying custom Web Parts on SharePoint 2007 production server

I would like to develop a custom SharePoint 2007 Web Part for a client. Currently I'm using Visual Studio to deploy my solution to a test environment (since it's a SharePoint Project I choose just Build -> Deploy from the menu). What are the appropriate steps to deploy it to the production server?

I'd like keep it simple and safe (i.e. use the principle of least privilege). Therefore (if possible) avoid using stsadm, achieve this through web interface, or avoid using administrative rights.

Also, can I specify the scope of my Web Part, i.e. choose on which Web Application or Site Collection will it be installed?

Attachements problems - also - How to add Office Communicator link to sharepoint Form ?

I have created an Infopath 2007 form and published it to Sharepoint 2007.

1. I can add "attachements" to the form, but the function can handle only one attachement per link. If i need to add 10 attachements, i have to create 10 attachement functions to the form.

Is it possible to create one attachement function in the Infopath form, that is able to save several attachements under it?

2. Is it possible to save .exe, .msi and similar files to the form as attachements? Sharepoint says security settings prohibit this.

3. How can i add a link that shows up as MS Office Communicator link in the form? For example: John Smith in Office communicator is now Online. I want his name and his status to show also in the Infopath form, when somebody opens it in Sharepoint.

Please help!

How to remove a saved password from a users computer

Hi, I have an asp.net website that requires users to login using their Active Directory credentials. All users of the website have AD accounts. Some of the users are at remote locations and share a common computer login (I know this is not recommended but it is what it is, I have no say in that). Every so often a user will log into my website and click the Remember Passwod box which causes the next person that comes along to not be prompted to log in. All users are on IE 7.  I have tried having them go into tools and deleting the cookies, saved passwords, etc but when they go to my website they are still not being prompted to log in. I have recently migrated to IIS 7 and I understand there is a way to have the user enter the site through a custom form but I have not gotten that far yet. How can I make sure the users password is removed from IE? Thanks for any help.
