Trying to build a custom application to crawl SharePoint Search

Hello,      I have been tasked with building a custom application to develop a report dynamically based upon a search ran in a SharePoint site using user-defined keywords. What I need the application to do is this: 1.) Access the results of a search, and do a full fidelity save of each item. 2.)  If the item returned is a document in a library and it has other versions associated with it, access the meta-data of those other versions and group those results with the item found in the search. 3.) Store the results in XML (probably the easiest), and build a custom display for reporting purposes. If anyone has any advice on how I can accomplish this, I would be very grateful, Thanks!

Custom SharePoint forms with some dynamic behaviour

Hello all,

I have this challenge: I need to create custom SharePoint forms with some dynamic behaviour, without programming(no Javascript, C#, ...)  Background: this form would be used to report expenses and the number of invoices is variable.

We're limiting the options for the solution, because we currently lack the programming skills to develop and maintain the code.  So we wanted to test the ability of SPD to solve our particular business situation.  InfoPath is being considered, but is not yet available to us.

I had thought about using a dropdown control (ASP or SharePoint) to select from a list the number of invoices to report.  Then I'd take the selected number as a parameter to conditionally display the necessary fields (date1, amount1, description1, date2, amount2, description2, etc.).

I also need to save the selected number of invoices as part of the expense report, because I can use it in a SPD workflow as part of my process control.

What I have found is the following:

* If I use an ASP dropdown, I can convert the selected number into a parameter and have a "dynamic form" but then I don't have a way to save the number selected in one of the fields (columns) of the expense report.

* If I use a SharePoint dropdown, I can save the number selected in the dropdown, be

SharePoint Gets Search Analytics

Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server 2003 was sold into a large number of organizations based solely on the strength of the search tool. Organizations hungered for a way to find the data they had generated.

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. Adding Search Refinements in SharePoint 2010

I have been playing around with SharePoint 2010 Search this morning. I love the new UI. The search refinements panel is just begging to be messed with. In my case I wanted to add the file extension JPG as an Image Type refiner.

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).
