Extreme ASP.NET: Tools of the Trade: Application Center Test

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

When you sit down to write an ASP. NET application, how much time do you spend thinking about performance? It's unfortunate, but for most developers performance is an afterthought. Performance planning and design really need to be front and center.

Server Farms: Application Center 2000 Offers World-Class Scalability

Application Center 2000 simplifies the deployment of a Microsoft .NET-based application to clusters, which are shared-nothing, loosely coupled computers that appear as one virtual computer. This allows all the computers in Application Center 2000 clusters to provide the same service or Web application at the same time. This article explains network load balancing and component load balancing for COM+ components with Application Center 2000. Accessing the features of Application Center 2000 though the MMC snap-in interface and the command-line interface for batching administrative tasks is also covered.

Were you coding SQL near World Trade Center on 9/11?

On 9/11/2001 I was on the 25th floor of 111 Wall Street working for Citibank as SQL developer/dba. That is the last building on Wall Street by the East River. I went to work at 8am on a remarkably beautiful sunny day, by 8:50 the 25mph wind blowing down Wall Street was bringing paper sheets like snowflakes by my window. My happy SQL-ing was interrupted by the unfolding immense tragedy. At 10:30am I was escaping amid nuclear war like conditions in white smoke burning my eyes and airways, F-16-s roaring overhead unseen because of the smoke. At that time I was confused, later I figured it out: I was in the thinning white smoke of the World Trade Center South Tower collapse, while the billowing white dirt cloud of the North Tower collapse was coming toward me. I did not know if I will live or die, just kept walking toward the Brooklyn Bridge.  After six blocks of nuclear winter type marching with thousands of others, the Sun appeared again: I am going to live! Windows action center kind of application using WPF

Hi All,

I'm trying to create an Notify Icon application to give status and action messages to the users about the my server application.

So, I planned to mimic the Microsoft's Action Center.

I need a notify Icon app, building action items as per the incoming messages and actions.

I want to do this in WPF no forms.

Any examples or patterns?

Thanks in advance.

Cant access Web Application Administration Tools

I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro SP1. Every time I try to access the security tab in Web Application Administration Tools I get this message:

There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Unable to connect to SQL Server database.

How can I fix this?

Thank You

Architecture Tools in VSTS 2010

Designing new functionality on existing applications can be daunting. There are always differences between the original design and the current implementation.

The new Architecture tools within Visual Studio Team System 2010 help you understand the application you have, design new functionality you need, and validate that your design and your implementation do not deviate.
