Create dynamic dropdown list when we export data to excel using SSRS.

Hi All,

I have assigned a work to create a report, that should render in excel with dropdown list. i.e. report should contain a input parameter as a table names, when user selects the table name, report should show only the field names of the selected table. Some of the field name have look up values that values should be displayed as dropdown when we export to excel.

Can any one have any idea how to proceed with this report?

Issue with SSRS Chart Dynamic width

I am using SSRS 2008. I am trying to use the Dynamic width and Dynamic height property of SSRS 2008. My SSRS chart has to display around 100 items on the x-axis. I am using the following formula depending on a report parameter =(Parameters!ReportParameter1.Value) & " in" to derive the width of the chart. The chart width is not  modified but I can see the the expression returning an valid value (ex: 10 in) and also the scroll bar size also changes but the chart's width(x-axis) is not increasing. Its still the old width.

Any help is highly appreciated.

SSRS 2008 dynamic change to report parameter properties

I'm running SSRS 2008, and I'm wondering if it is possible to change a report parameter property based on user input in another report parameter.  What I need to do is to make report parameter #2 a required parameter if a specific value is selected in parameter #1.  Parameter #2 should be optional under all other scenario.

Thanks in advance.

Dynamic SQL in SSRS - Multi Value Paramaters

I am tring to pass comma split multi values in for a paramater in to ssrs.  The Sproc that is points to uses dynamic sql and the paramater is nested in a an oracle query

in visual studio I have multi values selected but it does not seem to work..  below is the stored procedure

--SET @EM_ITEM_NUM = '1100015'
--SET @TIMEFRAME = '18 Months'

 declare @sqlQuery VARCHAR(8000)
declare @finalQuery VARCHAR(8000)

SET @sqlQuery = 'select
			sum(oss.SLS_QTY) as QTY
			,sum(oss.SLS_AMT) as AMT

Centering Images in dynamic rows - SSRS 2008 R2

I'm using SSRS 2008 R2. I have a tablix in which one of the column has textbox grows dynamically based on the dynamic content and the other column is an image control. In the image control, i have a very small image and I want this to be centered in that cell. It always renders at the top left corner. Since the tablix row grows dynamically, I couldn't set the Top padding.

Any help would be appreciated.

SSRS 2005 Dynamic Table Generation

I am attempting to build a report that allows the user to select the value of 4 different parameters. The final parameter allows the user to select multiple values. My question is as follows. Based on the users selections, is there a way to generate the required number of tables dynamically?

For instance, if the input for the final parameter is A, B, & C can the appriopriate number of tables be generated for the same dataset (Sales) without having to build a table for SalesA, SalesB, and SalesC? Or do I have to build the maximum number of tables and use an expression to determine visibility based on the parameters. Note: max number of possible tables is more than 100.

SSRS 2005 Dynamic-Conditional Filtering

I need to give my report viewers the option to filter if they like. the filtering criteria is also to be selected by the user. The report is about all products sold at all branches by all employees. therefore I have the 2 following user selected parameters:

  1. "Filter by" values: Show all- Branch- Employee - ProductId
  2. "FilterValue" values: To have the dynamic values, this parameter is getting the valid values from the following query:
select distinct

case @filterby

when 'Branch' then Sales.branchID

when 'Product' then Sales.ProductID

when 'Employee' then Sales.EMPID

when 'all' then 'all'

end as 'filtervalue'

from sales

order by filtervalue
then I set the table filtering properties to:
=IIF(Parameters!filterby.Value like "all", Parameters!filtervalue.Value, fields(Parameters!filterby.Value).Value)=Parameters!filtervalue.Value

I had to use the IIF statment to implement the conditional filtering. (e.g. I do not want the report filtered by anything if the user selects "all"  for parameter "Filterby" )...now my report works for any filtering criteria selected other than "All". I get the error: Failed to evaluate the filterExpression when I select "all".

This is driving me nuts!

Help please!

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Dynamic Data Templates in GridView ASP.NET 3.5

At a high level, Dynamic Data Templates can be seen as a system to very quickly build up a User Interface linked with the relevant data model, immediately enabling you to perform CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on the database using the specified data source. They provide a powerful method for building up these kinds of applications, and I'm going to focus on an overview of what Dynamic Data Templates actually are, and a few ways of customizing them to suit industry needs.

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.

Dynamic Systems Development Model (DSDM) Methodology

The Dynamic Systems Development Model was developed in the U.K. in the mid-1990s. It is the evolution of rapid application development (RAD) practices. DSDM boasts the best-supported training and documentation of any of the agile software development techniques, at least in Europe. DSDM favors the philosophy that nothing is built perfectly the first time and looks to software development as an exploratory endeavor.

Adding Dynamic Rows in GridView with TextBoxes

What is the difference between "dynamic" and "object" keywords?

Let's take a quick look at the object keyword first. I'm not going to talk a lot about it because it's been around since C# 1.0. This keyword is nothing more than a shortcut for System.Object, which is the root type in the C# class hierarchy. (However, as Eric Lippert pointed out in his blog post, not everything in C# derives from object.) This is a powerful mechanism, since you can assign almost any value to instances of this type.
