MOSS and SSRS Integration Problem

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi all,

We're currently having a great deal of difficulty getting our MOSS/SSRS integration configured.  In short, we're getting "A connection to the computer cannot be established." message in the Grant Database Access page of the Reporting Services Integration settings.

A few more points:

We have two servers:

  • Server A:  Win2K3 EE SP2, MOSS 2007, SSRS Integration Components
  • Server B:  Win2K3 EE SP2, SQL Server 2005 SP2, MOSS database, SSRS, WSS 3.0, SSRS Integration Components

A user in IE on Server A can successfully browse to the ReportServer virtual directory on Server B.

Another "test" MOSS server has been configured separately and successfully against Server B, so it seems like there's something amiss with Server A.  The report server configuation tool shows all green.  There are no entries in the App or System log that appear related to this issue.  We've looked at KB's 871179 and 896861; no luck there.

We've tried both Windows Authentication and Trusted Connection with a number of different accounts, including a domain admin.  N

SQL 2008 servers and MOSS 2007 with SSRS

I need help figuring out the limitations in a multi-database server environment and MOSS 2007 installation with SSRS.  Here is the run down:

  • I currently have MOSS 2007 server with backend on SQL 2005, which also acts as the SSRS server.  In addition I have another SQL 2005 server where business data resides and against which most of the SSRS reports run.
  • Future plan (over which I don't really have a say) is MOSS 2007 with backend on SQL 2008, which will remain to be the SSRS server.  The second SQL server with business data will be migrated to SQL 2008 R2.

Questions: does this architecture requires SSRS 2008 add-in or SSRS 2008 R2 add-in (integrated mode)?  Will there be an issue of building SSRS 2008 reports that go after SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 data mix?

MOSS 07 Installation Quirks - SSRS Connectivity & SSP Permissions

I'm new to MOSS 07 and am currently learning it.  I've done clean installs and post-install configuration a few times now and I've noticed 2 quirks associated with a fresh install.  I'm not sure what is going on or the best way to "fix" them.

1 - I install SQL 05 with SSRS prior to installing MOSS and I always check to make sure that SSRS is configured and I can connect to it in the SQL Management Studio.  Once the Default port 80 Web App is provisioned, however, I can no longer connect to SSRS via the SQL MS.  I understand that this is related to the fact that the default Web App that hosts the SSRS sites is the Default 80 Web Site and that this port is taken over by the SharePoint 80 portal.  My question is, how to handle this.  I understand that I can configure SSRS to run via SP Integration.  However, when I install SSRS 05 initially and prior to installing/configuring MOSS, should SSRS be installed under a separate Web App and Port than the Default?  Does SP Integration restore the ability to connect to SSRS via the SQL Mang. Studio?

2 - In an attempt to get used to a "production" way of doing things, I create Domain Service accounts for both installing MOSS and running the services.  My problem is with the results of using an installation account.  I call it "spinsta

Office 2003 integration with MOSS 2007

Hi ,

All my files/docs in MOSS 2007 open as read-only with Office 2003 standard edition in some machines.

The user seems to have sufficient permissions to edit but still not able to do so.

Any suggestion?

Problem Integration SQL Reporting Service 2005 and SharePoint 2007

Hello, I'm trying to make our SQL Reports available on our SharePoint report center. I have SQL 2005 (sp3) report server that resides on a different server than our SharePoint 2007 server. So in our SRS Configuration Tool, we changed the database mode for SharePoint integration (before, we only had it in native mode), so we created a new database for this SharePoint Integration type. Next, I installed the Report Server Add-in for SharePoint 2007 server and it was successful. However when configuring the Report Server, we got stuck at the step "Grant Database Access". For some reason we keep getting error message "Named instance not found" We already installed Service Pack 3 on the Report Server... I heard that the problem is because the mismatched version between the Report Server Add-in in SharePoint and the SQL RS version... but I don't think this is the case for us. Do we need to install WSS on our Report Server too?     Another question: We already integrate our Report Server with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. However I see that when the Report Server is in the SharePoint Integration mode, all the reports in CRM don't work (because Report Manager is no longer available in this mode). Do you think it would be the best practice to install a copy of Report Server instance in our SharePoint 2007 server? Thank you, greatly appreciate all your hel

A connection could not be made to the report server - Problem deploying an SSRS report from Business

I’m having trouble with what seems to be a common issue for people, regarding deployment of an SSRS report from Business Intelligence Development Studio. Unfortunately none of the solution I have seen posted here (and elsewhere) have been able to help me so far.   Two of my collegaues can both deploy with no problem, and I am using exactly the same Target destinations as them (TargetDataSourceFolder, TargetReportFolder, TargetServerURL).   I have posted the error message below, which from my basic understaning would indicate, I think, a security issue (perhaps something local to my PC, or user account)   Has anyone experienced this particular issue who might be able to help?   Best wishes, Jamie TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer ------------------------------ A connection could not be made to the report server http://turpin-net.turpin-bg.local/Reportserver. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'. Now I decided to integrate the sql server report services into sharepoint and did some research and found some articles on msdn which says in order to integrate the report services into sharepoint i need to have a minimal install of moss 2007 on server hosting report services (correct me if i am wrong). since i have only 2 servers i decided to install the minimal installation of moss 2007 on my server 1 ( Web front end only ). Here are the steps i followed for it Installed .NET framework 3.0 Installed moss 2007 sp2 Installed october cumuilative update for wss then same for moss 2007. Installed .net framework 2.0 NDP20-KB913384-X86.exe hot fix. and then ran the psconfig from command line as psconfig -cmd configdb -connect -server <SQLServerName> -database SharePoint_Config_ <dbname> -user <domainusername> -password <passw

SSRS 2008 R2 Problem understanding View State Validation steps

Hi, Sorry, but I have some problem understanding this steps. Please help me to understand this.  Pasted from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281307.aspx?lc=1033 How to Configure View State Validation To run a scale-out deployment on an NLB cluster, you must configure view state validation so that users can view interactive HTML reports. You must do this for the report server and for Report Manager. View state validation is controlled by the ASP.NET. By default, view state validation is enabled and uses the identity of the Web service to perform the validation. However, in an NLB cluster scenario, there are multiple service instances and web service identities that run on different computers. Because the service identity varies for each node, you cannot rely on a single process identity to perform the validation. To work around this issue, you can generate an arbitrary validation key to support view state validation, and then manually configure each report server node to use the same key. You can use any randomly generated hexadecimal sequence. The validation algorithm (such as SHA1) determines how long the hexadecimal sequence must be. Generate a validation key and decryption key by using the autogenerate functionality provided by the .NET Framework. (Well, how to generate Validation key using .Net Framework?) In the end, you must have a singl

SSRS problem with passing multiple parameter values via URL %2c

Hi, I have a problem with passing multiple parameter values from one report (A) to another report (B).   For example I built a URL string in report (A) with the parameters like &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2. As soon as I click on that URL the URL parameters look like &Parameter1=1%2c2 and the parameters don’t getting populated on report (B).   If I change the parameter in the URL to &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2 and execute the URL manual the parameter on report (B) getting populated properly.   Is there a way to disable the coding like %2c (comma) or is there another solution for it?   Thanks
