Collect Data From User in Sharepoint 2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I am trying to run a task where I collect data from a user, simple YES/NO choice selection, within SPD.

I have created the workflow and it does run, however the Output to returns the List Item Id, which is fine, I understand this is the Task ID.

But I cannot work out how to get the result from my YES/NO to use further in the workflow so as to change the status of another list item.

I have read the guide for 2007 (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-designer-help/collect-data-from-a-user-in-a-workflow-HA010209808.aspx#BM5) but this guide does not follow for SPD 2010.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide/example or explain what I am missing.  I would prefer to be able to complete this task within SPD, rather than VS2010.

Thanks in advance

Sharepoint Designer 2010 - Collect Data from User Issue

I am currently running Sharepoint 2010 Foundation and Sharepoint Designer 2010

I am creating a custom workflow where I am asking 1 user for input using collect data from user.  Following this I am asking a different user the same question using another collect data from user.

Since these creates 2 tasks (1 for each user) I wanted to store the information in the same column, but I seem unable to do so.  Each collect data from user seems to create it's own column even if you name both the same (you end up with 2 columns with the same name but different column id's).

Is there a way to point them both to the same column?  Is there a better way to do this?

More the less I am asking the both persons a yes/no question.  in my workflow if they both say yes I send an e-mail but wanted to have only 1 column in the vew to see the results on the tasks.

How to get Email of Current User Data View Web Part Sharepoint 2010 and pass to WebService data sour

I have to pass in the email address of the current user to a web service data source (run time) of a Data View Web Part.

My Question is:

a) How can I get Email address of current user based  in DVWP.
I know we can get the CurrentUser using the CurrentUserName but how do we get the Email for the Current User.

b) After getting the Email how do we pass to the Web Service.

How can I show data from a Workflow variable in a SharePoint Designer Collect Data from User form?

I have collected some data (a comment) from a user in a SharePoint Designer (SPD) workflow step and I now want to display that comment in a second "Collect Data from User" form at a subsequent step in my workflow.  How can I add the content of my Workflow data variable, or even data from my original item, in the Collect Data from user form?

The Collect Data from user form is generated out of the Workflow Tasks list and only contains the url of the item where I could store the comment and which has the workflow attached to it.

This guy says he has done something similar but he appears to only use the URL and static info and does not explain the detail in any case: http://www.mstechblogs.com/paul/spd-workflow-collect-data-from-a-user-modify-the-generated-task-form

I'm keen to hack at the aspx form in SPD but I really need the particular line of code that will do it as I'm not a developer.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Selecting a Task List in Sharepoint Designer 2007 while setting up "Collect Data from User"

When using Sharepoint Designer 2007 to Collect Data from User the task list cannot be selected.  Instead the Task list that is defaulted is the most recently created Task List.  How can I select a specific Task list to associate with"Collect Data from User"?

Modify User in Collect Data from User Workflow

I've created a workflow with a Collect Data from User action that emails a Group when the task is created. Once the task is claimed by an individual, the Assigned To column in the task list is updated to display that person's name but once the task is completed the email variable for the action is not updated and the group is emailed instead of the person listed as Assigned To.

So the question is this: Is there a way to update the user varialbe in the workflow task once the task is completed, or would I need to build my own workflow and use the Send Email action?
