TabContainer invisible after upgrade to 4.0

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

We upgraded our project to 4.0 yesterday and did a live release. Unfortunately for some reason on one of our pages the tab container does not display anymore. I've set a breakpoint at the end of code execution and the .Visible property of the container is True, but the generated HTML has a CSS tag set to make it invisible:

<div class="ajax__tab_xp" id="ctl00_PageBody_tbcTabs" style="visibility:hidden;">

If I use the IE8 development tools to remove the style property then everything displays correctly. Any ideas why the container is set to be invisible even though the code behind is setting it to visible?

ASP.net Ajax TabContainer -- Printing All tabs

Can  anyone help me with this?. I want to print all the tabs in ajax tab container. The tab container has around 10 tabs. I dont want to goto each tab and print the page. Instead is there any way by which I can tweek the print.css file to print all the tabs at a single stretch?.  So that I will get all the contents of the tab in single print.  Is there any other way in which I can print all the tabs all together?.

Thanks in Advance...

Best Way to Upgrade Using Web Setup Project

Hi there,

I am using VS2005.

I don't have much experience with web setup projects, but I now need to create a decent windows installer in order to allow customers to install one of our web applications. I have created a simple web setup project and it works fine, but not when it comes to upgrades of the application.

If for instance I install version 1.0 on a machine, and then later I try to install version 2.0, I don't seem to have the control that I would like... I can specify in the web setup project that the installer must enforce an uninstall of previous version, but then all application files and logs are uninstalled as well. If I let the application just install itself over the older version, it seems to leave some old DLL's there - it then causes issues in the application because DLL version conflicts.

My basic requirement is that I would like th installer to upgrade the old version with all the files required, but leave any application and log files in tact - this way the customer won't have to reconfigure the application after install.

What is the best way to handle this?

Who Goes There?: Upgrade Your Site's Authentication with the New ASP.NET 2.0 Membership API

Here Dino Esposito and Andrea Saltarello cover the plumbing of the Membership API and its inherently extensible nature, based on pluggable providers. To demonstrate the features, they take an existing ASP.NET 1.x authentication mechanism and port it to ASP.NET 2.0, exposing the legacy authentication mechanism through the new Membership API.

An example of packaging web application containing database upgrade SQL file

A few months ago, we have a blog talking about extending the web publishing pipeline to package database project deployed SQL file.  In this blog, I'll show step by step example of packaging web application with SQL Server database upgrade SQL file using Visual Studio 2010.  This way, we can generate a web package with incremental SQL script to certain database version.  The scenario may help distributions of a web upgrade package which needs to be installed on many different locations, each with their own SQL server database.   1. Create a Web Application Project 2. Add a new "SQL Server 2008 Database Project" to the solution 3. Prepare a development database, such as my test1 database as the following: 4. Dynamic tabcontainer

I have a tabcontainer that is set up dynamically.  Everything in this work without any issues.  I add a gridview to this container and I would love to maintain the active tab during a page post back.   If I create the tabcontainer in the design time I know how to use javascript to maintain the tab selections.  But I have no clue when they are dynamic.  I tried storing the activeTabIndex in a session variable but I don't know how to capture the change of the tabs.

Can someone please help,

How to upgrade from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010 after mistanely de

I need a detailed instruction on how to upgrade From Upgrading from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0  (SBS 2003 ) to SharePoint Foundation 2010.

Background of the case:

I have all my databases (STS-database and STS_Config) saved but, I forgot to save my Virtual Site )Companyweb site) and I mistakenly re-installed IIS on the SBS 2003, hence  I lost the companyweb site. Is this an issue to migrate to Sharepoint foundation 2010. The Sharepoint foundation 2010 is running on a Microsoft HyperV Server 2008 R2
Also, I have created a Virtual 2003 SRV ENT with Sharepoint Services 3.0 running on it. I also have attached my Databases STS_Database and STS_Config)... how do I get it working like a regular website. I have modified the CNAME record to reflect the new server... http://companyweb - it take me to the new site but it loads a blank page. I did create a new CompanyWeb Virtual site on the VHD 2003 server.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt response. Nelson

Issues with dynamically created TabContainer (Hide/Show TabPanel)

I have a web page that contains an UpdatePanel. In that panel, there is a TabContainer control that has 5 TabPanels, only the first one "Tab 1" will be displayed during initial page load. There is an Add button in "Tab 1", whenever it gets clicked, I will add (show) the next TabPanel (Tab 2, Tab 3, etc., all the way to Tab 5). "Tab 2" thru "Tab 5" contains a Close button that will close (hide) the current tab when clicked.

I'm doing all of these from code behind (dynamically create controls in Page_Init event and re-generate them during postback, track each TabPanel's content in a session variable, etc.), and everything seems to work just fine IF after adding several TabPanels, I remove  them in order (i.e. remove Tab 5 first, then Tab 4, Tab 3, etc.). It will NOT work whenever I try to remove a tab in the middle, then I will get all kinds of strange results.

I've attached the sample codes here for reviewing and testing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

SQL 2008 Upgrade Replication failure

we upgraded to Sql 2008 standard edition last night from 2000 and our replication is now failing, cannot delete it or enter new ones.   I found one article saying the following stored procedures need to be run to upgrade the replcation:   exec sp_vupgrade_replication  exec sp_vupgrade_repl_metadata   however the first one throws and error and the second one seems not to exists.  does anyone have any insight into this. or how to delete the replications?   the error from the stored proc sp_vupgrade_replication  is :   Upgrading subscription settings and system objects in database [SoxAuditSystem]. Attempting to copy article resolvers from SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\Replication\ArticleResolver Msg 25026, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_registercustomresolver, Line 82 The proc sp_registercustomresolver cannot proceed because it is not run in the context of the distribution database, or the distribution database is not properly upgraded.

Upgrade SQL server 2008 R2 from Evaluation Edition to Enterprise Edition

Hello SQL Support group, I have SQl server 2008 R2 installed on a Win 2003 R2 and it is for our SharePoint and Project server 2007 environment. Today I noticed that we have only 75 days left! Seems like we installed it on evaluation mode. Here what we have on Helpàabout : Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Complete (expires in 75 days)    10.50.1352.12 We do have MSDN account, and we have the KEY that comes with the SQL server 2008 R2 enterprise. We would like to assign the key to our SQl server ( we want to have enterprise edition). It is in a production environment now. I would like to know how we can do it  with minimum of down time. I found this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sqlman/archive/2010/03/16/sql-server-2008-upgrading-to-standard-enterprise-edition-from-evaluation-edition.aspx On the internet, but doesn’t say anything that we are losing any data after upgrade or not. Please let us know the best way to assign the key, and if it has any impact in our data. Thanks Bahram
