cube deployment fails- A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am trying to create a cube using the same process that I always do. however this time I get an error message "Warning 4 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing: Table: 'dbo_ALL_ResultsNewest', Column: 'MktCapGroup', Value: '. The attribute is 'Mkt Cap Group'.  0 0
This is using alot of data but I have created similar size cubes before. I create simple cubes with a single dimension and all the attributes related to a single master attribute. I am a data analyst, not a technologist and don;t have any real understanding of cube internals beyond the basics.

A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing

Hi When I process one of my dimensions it fails and I get the following error: Errors in the OLAP storage engine: A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing: Table: 'Customers', Column: 'DisplayName', Value: 'Stephen Grant'. The attribute is 'Display Name'. I don't know if this is significant, but the attribute to which it is making reference was added through BIDS 2008 (the cube was originally created with BIDS 2005).  There are no duplicates of 'Stephen Grant' in the DisplayName column. Not that it should matter if there were as this attribute has a cardinality of Many, with an rigid attribute relationship directly to the dimension's key attribute. The Key column for the Display Name attribute simply refers back to the same (DisplayName) column in the table. If I delete this record, or even just update the DisplayName field from 'Stephen Grant' to something else, the dimension processes just fine. I can't work out what it is about this record that is stopping the dimension from being able to process. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? Julia. P.S. I am using SSAS 2008 on Windows Server 2008

XMLA for Cube Processing fails when called from SQL Agent Job

Hi

I have some XMLA which runs fine in SSMS, but fails when called as a step in an agent job. Here is the XMLA:

  <Process xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine">
      <Object>
        <DatabaseID>MyCube</DatabaseID>
      </Object>
      <Type>ProcessFull</Type>
      <WriteBackTableCreation>UseExisting</WriteBackTableCreation>
    </Process>

And here is the error from SQL Agent:

An exception (0xe0434f4d) occurred in the ANALYSISCOMMAND subsystem.  The step failed.

I am running this on SQL 2005 SP3 Developer Edition. I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the instance. The PC also has SQL 2008 instances installed (I'm not sure it that is relevant or not). I can get the SQL Agent job working fine on SQL 2008 and another SQL 2005 box.

Can anyone help?

Julia.

Cube Processing Error

Hi All when i process the cube some times i get the error  "OLE DB or ODBC  Error: Operation Cancelled; HY008. Internal Error: The Operation Terminated unsuccessfully  " https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/286505/error-in-processing-cube?wa=wsignin1.0 In above link Microsoft they said to increase Query time out, i made it 0 even it repros I am using SQL Server 2008.   Thanks

Problem in Cube processing

Hi All, I have created cube and processed with the setting "Stop Logging",and it would take 30 min to complete processing with the error shown  Error in Olap storage engine The attribute key cannot found when processing table "Factcalldata", column programid,value 7070.the attribute is Programid.   Kindly let me know is this is the reason which is responsible for Longer processing Time ,i have created partition and aggregation in all measure groups.   Regards Amit

Cube processing

HI All, I am new to SSAS and but i suppose to work on cube part. I have created cube with two partition both of 5 days using getdate()-10 to getdate()-5  and getdate (4) to getdate() ,,,,so tel me if i process full cube once and then other partition in full process,then will the 5 day process data overite the full data into 5 day data or not.   regards Shraddha

Incremental processing -> aggregations dropped, even with rigid attribute relations

Hi! Very briefly, my goal is to incrementally process the fact data for my SSAS 2005 cube, without losing aggregations. For that purpose, I have defined all attribute relationships as rigid (I don't really expect any of the relations to change) because I hear that flexible aggregations get dumped during incremental processing. BIDS Helper indeed confirms that all of my aggregations are rigid. Then I proces the cube, either via the SSMS GUI using the "Process Incremental" option, or with an XMLA command using type "ProcessAdd". The outcome is the same, no matter which method I use. Then I check the status of my aggregations. I do so first by sending a DISCOVER_PARTITION_STAT Discover XMLA query (http://geekswithblogs.net/darrengosbell/archive/2008/12/02/ssas-are-my-aggregations-processed.aspx), and, as a double check, by sending a query to the cube from which I know it normally uses an aggregation and checking in the profiler whether the aggregation is really used. The result is always the same: The aggregations are lost! The DISCOVER_PARTITION_STAT query informs me that all aggregations have size = 0. Note, that after a ProcessFull, all aggregations are there (with size > 0) and work as expected, so the problem only occurs after incremental processing. Also for the problem to occur it is enough to incrementally process the cube, the dimensions are lef

ClickOnce deployment fails if .NET Framework isn't installed

Hi,   I have noticed that installation of my application fails in some cases. If the user has .NET Framework installed the installation works. But if it's not installed then Click Once will install it, after asking the user to accept the EULA, installation will complete and the "Install"/"Don't install"-dialog appears. My application is downloaded and then fails with the error message:     Following errors were detected during this operation. * [2010-09-01 15:22:17] System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (ManifestLoad) - Exception occurred loading manifest from file Stoffi.exe: the manifest may not be valid or the file could not be opened. - Source: System.Deployment - Stack trace: at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest.ManifestLoadExceptionHelper(Exception exception, String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest.LoadFromInternalManifestFile(String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest..ctor(String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.DownloadManager.ProcessDownloadedFile(Object sender, DownloadEventArgs e) at System.Deployment.Application.FileDownloader.DownloadModifiedEventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, DownloadEventArgs e) at System.Deployment.Application.FileDownloader.OnModified() at System.Deployment.A

Cube Processing

Hi all, I have a cube and it is processed every 6 hours. 3 different process calls the SSIS package through SQL Server Agent to process the cube, and they all may call the SSIS package at the same time. But for that I set an Indicator which tells the cube is processing and it waits for a minute and re-checks it and then processes the cube. My problem here is while the cube is processing other ETL jobs might update/delete/insert the data into Fact Tables. What will happen when cuube is processing and these things are done simulatneously. Can anyone explain what will be the possible outcome. Thanks Vineeshvineesh1701

PS2007/MSSQL2008: Cube Creation fails, although it was OK before (CBSASConnectionFailure (17003))

BDC deployment failing because Identifier1 cannot be found

I am trying to create a BDC Model in VS 2010. I started with the VS 2010 template "Business Data Connectivity Model". I changed Entity1 to Products and its Identifier to ProductID. Foreign characters causing a duplicate attribute key error - how to avoid?

Greetings, We have a data warehouse into which we import data obtained from our outside vendors.  The data are then used to build data cubes.  Lately we have started to get a duplicate key error on the "County" attribute in our "Location" dimension.  The problem appears to be caused by these two values returned by the query that returns the distinct list of counties: Spree-Neisse Spree-Neiße These are German counties and they are really the same county, I believe.  Our data warehouse stores County as a varchar.  If I cast the stored value as nvarchar, the query that returns the distinct list of counties returns only the 2nd value and so should avoid the duplicate key error.  (I haven't tried it yet, just speculating.) This post suggests the root cause of the problem: http://ssas-musings.blogspot.com/2009/11/duplicate-key-error.html We don't have any control over the data before our vendors give it to us, and it comes from all over the world.  What is the best way to avoid occurrences of the duplicate attribute key error?  Should we be storing all our character data as nvarchar?  Would it be enough to cast the stored data as nvarchar when the cubes are being built?  Is there a better approach?  I'd like to get an idea of what the best practice would be.  Our warehouse

Key Dimension attribute not visible in cube browser

When browsing the cube either through managemnet studio the key dimension attribute is not visible . However when I browse just the dimension, I'm able to see this attribute. Is this the default behaviour ?. Is there any property I need to set to make it visble ?. The AttributeHierarchyVisible property is already set to true.

Deployment and processing problem

Hello,

I have an analysis services project in Visual Studio, and now I added a column to one of the tables composing the dimensions (it's a MOLAP DB) and made it the primary key, and then I updated the tables composing the measure groups by deleting the key field to the dimension table and replacing it with a field that refers to the new column in the dimension table. The problem is that when trying to deploy the changes, I get errors for the measure group tables that say the data source view doesn't contain a definition for the old column that I deleted and thus of course is not supposed to be there. Why can't it identify the change and process it correctly, and what can I do?

Thanks.

Re-processing Dimensions with a ROLAP cube

Hi all.

I have set up a ROLAP Cube because of the advantage that you do not need to re-process the cube.  AS will always go to the underlying data source for the most up to date data.  Unlike MOLAP you do not need to re-process your cube to refresh the data.

BUT.  I find this is only true for my FACT data (or for my measures).  Say for instance my dimension changes - I add the member "Australia" to the country dimension.  This new data is NOT filtering down to AS automatically, I need to re-process my dimensions for the cube to be valid again.

So my question is this.  If you have dimensions changing with each datawarehouse load, what is the advantage of ROLAP?  Is there a way for ROLAP to figure out that a dimension has changed and re-process it automatically?

Thanks,

David.

0x80040154 error processing a cube from SQL Server 2008 R2 x64 database engine to OLAP Server 2000 x

I recently upgrade from SQL Server 2000 x32 to SQLServer 2008 R2 x64 but only the database engine not the Analysis Server, I used to use this code to proces the cubes.

http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/jeffs/archive/2008/10/27.aspx

but now it do not  work more with the error:
Error at create server:
Error      Source                    Description          HelpFile HelpID
---------- ------------------------- -------------------- -------- -----------
0x80040154 ODSOLE Extended Procedure  Clase no registrada NULL     0

(1 row(s) affected)

I found this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932872

It means that I can not process the cube using the same method any more ?
