I'm a WPF beginner and currently exploring some techniques and use cases. This is one of my test setups:

<Window x:Class="wpfTest.MainWindow"
    Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width

Bind An Already Bound TextBox to ComboBox SelectedItem

Hey all,

If I have a TextBox that is already two-way bound to something, but I also want it so when a ComboBox SelectedItem changes, then the TextBox's Text property is set to the new SelectedItem.

Here's what I have so far, I added the comment where the TextBox is, which I would like to also be bound to the ComboBox below this.

        <ListView Grid.Row="2"
             DataContext="{Binding ScriptParameters}"

C# data bound combobox: display selected item text in separate label.content

I am new to C# but I'm resisting the urge to run screaming back to VB.NET. I'm working with a WPF application using C# code-behind and a lot of binding to a SQL 2005 database backend.

GOAL: I have a comboBox bound to a tbl_Systems entity which provides a list of systems for user selection. When the User selects a system from the comboBox I want to display the selection's text in a separate Label. The big picture is that several comboBox selections will be used to build a query string that will populate a listbox. So, I want to display these selected values in the Label so the user can see the query string they have dictated.

PROBLEM: When I set the Label content property to the comboBox SelectedItem property the entity tbl_System is displayed in the Label not the comboBox selection text.

SUSPICION: From reading similar examples in VB I suspect that the comboBox SelectedItem is actually a "datarowview" or the C# equivalent. But I don't know how to translate this explanation to C#.

The UI XAML comboBox properties are set as such:

ComboBox text/value selection?

When we select a value from combobox list, we can get it by combobox.selectedvalue.text, however when we enter a new value in combobox, we can get it by combobox.text when submitting a form.  During submission, how will we handle this situation? Either there is a single way of getting value in both situations or we'll have to tackle both situations separately?

Please help me tackling this situation. Thanks

Can't select combobox item with mouse

I have a bizarre issue with my wpf 3.5 app that I just wrote. One of the computers we installed it on won't allow the user to select an item from the combobox with the mouse. The mouse can make the drop down appear like normal, but when the mouse hovers over the items they are not highlighted and clicking on one closes the drop down but doesn't select the item. This is the default combobox with no style and only the margin, itemssource and selecteditem properties set. I tried other programs that have comboboxes (IE7, Excel, a VB6 app) and all of them work just fine. We have this program installed on numerous computers throughout our company and everyone else's is working correctly. I tried uninstalling the program and the .NET framework then reinstalling. I don't know what else to try.

Issue with Combobox - On selecting Item the combobox border becomes red why?

Hi, I have a combobox. <ComboBox DisplayMemberPath="Name" Name="CB" IsEnabled="{Binding ElementName=RB, Path=IsChecked}"<br/> SelectedValue="{Binding Path=Folders, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger= PropertyChanged}" /> It has Selected value binding with ObservableCollection as public ObservableCollection<T> _folders; public ObservableCollection<T> Folders { get { return _folders; } set{ _folders = value; }} Combobox's IsEnabled property has binding with a Radio button checked value. PS: I don't have any validation here. The problem I am facing is when I select an Itam from Combobox its border becomes red , I don't understand why this is happening.

Display the item in the ComboBox inside the ListView(GridView)

I have the below code used in binding the values to the ComboBox in GridView(ListView), please help me < ListView Margin="480,51,6,14" Name="grid1" ItemsSource="{Binding UserDetail}" IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" Width="389" Grid.Column="1" > <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Header="UserName" Width="120" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=WindowsUser}"/> <GridViewColumn Header="Role" Width="140"> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ComboBox Name="Rolecombo" Width="120" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=UserDetail}" SelectedValue="{Binding PFR_Tbl_Role.Role}"/> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> <GridViewColumn Header="Active" x:Name="column" Width="100"> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Width="{Binding ElementName=column,Path=Width}"> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding Active}" HorizontalAlignment="Center" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> </GridView>  </ListView.View> </ListView>

How to Bind ListBox to ComboBox's SelectedItem

I have a ComboBox bound to a list of custom objects (Person). Each Person has a Friends collection. I want a ListBox below the ComboBox to contain a list of Friends depending on the Person selected in the ComboBox above it.   Something like: <ComboBox x:Name="MyComboBox" ItemsSource="{Binding People}"/> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Element=MyComboBox, Path=SelectedItem.Friends}"/>   It doesn't work (null reference, I'm assuming because the SelectedItem.Friends is the wrong syntax.   Any pointers?

Binding ListBox to ComboBox's SelectedItem

Automatically select item with keyboard navigation in a combobox

Hi there,

in a WinForms ComboBox the selected item automatically changes, when I navigate through the combobox items with keyboard.

However, in the WPF ComboBox (IsEditable = false), the item in the list is highlighted but not automatically selected. Is there a way to change this behaviour?

Combobox DisplayMembertPath Setted : Never change SelectedItem

I begin with WPF and binding. In my project, i have one Combobox which is binded (ItemsSource) to an ObservableCollection<Organization> (dependency property in MainWindow code-behind).

My class Organization contains a property called "Name" and i want to display it in items, so i set DisplayMembertPath to "Name".

But when i do that, if i change the item in the combobox, the item doesn't change instead of code-behind side, the SelectedItem changes.

I tried to use a DataTemplate with a TextBlock binded to the Name property, i have the same issue.

Here my code-behind (MainWindow.xaml.cs) :

public ObservableCollection<Organization> OrganizationCollection
   get { return (ObservableCollection<Organization>)GetValue(OrganizationCollectionProperty); }
   set { SetValue(OrganizationCollectionProperty, value); }
  public static readonly DependencyProperty OrganizationCollectionProperty =

highlighting the text of the selected item in Ajax Combobox

Is there a way to programmatically select the entire string of the selected item in the AJAX Combobox?

What I'm trying to do is bascially on a State/City selection.

1.  User selects a State from the first combobox.  This triggers the City combobox to be populated.  The item(0) is "Select One:".

2.  I want the entire "Select One:" to be hightlight as if the user had used their mouse and highlighted all the text.

The reason for this that I'd like the user to be able to start typing the city without needing to clear out the "Select One:" manually.

Can this be done?

DataGrid bound to empty (generic) collection can only add one item

Hi All,

I have a datagrid where the itemssource is bound to an typed observable collection:

ObservableCollection<ItemViewModel> Items;

Initially, the collection is empty (although not null). The datagrid shows me one row, and creates an item in the collection for me automatically. I can edit this row just fine.

However, there is no way of adding a new row. I believe this is because the grid only adds a row when I've finished editing the current one, and since there is but one row I cannot leave that row! I would like to add a fresh row as soon as the user begins editing the current one (bit like the windows forms datagridview).

How can I solve this problem?

Copy List Item in SPD 2010 Workflow Fails if Check Out/Check In Required

I've seen this issue on 3 different Sharepoint 2010 implementations, including upgrades and fresh installations...

The workflow, which works fine in WSS 3.0/MOSS, operates on change of a document.  Workflow reviews a specific column and based on contents of that column, it checks out the document, copies the current item from the current library to another library in the same site and then deletes the item in the current library.

In SharePoint 2010, the following occurs.  Again, this occurs in the upgraded workflow as well as in a brand new workflow created with SPD 2010 on a site that blank / not upgraded.

  • Workflow starts on an item that is verified to not already be checked out.
  • Document is checked out
  • Document IS copied to the other library
  • Workflow fails and is canceled with the following errors:
    The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings.  (They do.)
    The workflow operation failed because the action requires the document to be checked out. (The item is checked out by workflow - as is evidenced by the fact that the item is still checked out after workflow fails.)
  • RESULT:  the copy operation does work, workflow thinks it doesn't and fails on that step, item is not deleted

I've tes
