SP 2007 to 2010 migration and compatibility

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Will web parts written for SP2007 work in SP2010 or is it neccesary to re-write? The web parts concerned make extensive use of connection interfaces and tool parts.

Exchange Server 2007 SP1 mailbox migration into 2010

Hi Everyone, I’ve got all in one Exchange Server 2007 SP1 RU3 that got all in one role installed (HT-CAS-MBx) in Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 SP which is also running as domain controller with all FSMO role. I’m planning to migrate the Exchange Server 2007 server role into the Exchange Server 2010 Standard that I have prepared in my Virtual Machine of Windows Server 2008 R2, what is the safest migration path to make the email flow working end to end parallel (staging migration process). (please also not that this Exchange Server 2007 SP1 got so many problem like – OOF email error in Outlook 2007, meeting scheduler stopped working, etc… therefore updating it into SP3 is not the way here and I've backed up the mailbox using Backup Exec 2010 in case i can just restore the backed up mailbox into the new server 2010 if possible) My this is what I’m about to do: 1. Transfer all FSMO role into another domain controllers 2. Install and configure similar role in the new VM (Exchange Server 2010 Std.) 3. Confused… Things to do after all mailbox migration: 1. Cutover the MX record into the new server name 2. Install updated UCC- SSL certificate into the exchange server 2007 Any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Migration from WSS 3.0 & MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010

Hi All,

I am kiran and working on some migration project.

I am stuck with some basic questions,

1. I have got couple of hudred WSS 3.0 sites

2. I have got couple of hundred MOSS 2007 Enterrprise sites

I need to migrate both the above to SharePoint Server 2010 platform.

My Question is,

1. Can I directly migrate WSS 3.0 sites to SharePoint 2010 env? Is there any need to step up to MOSS 2007 and then to SharePoint 2010? Becuase all documentations talk about migrating MOSS 2007 to SS 2010.

Your help is appreiciated.

Also can you link me to some sound help links please?

Looking for guidance: Integrated SharePoint SSRS migration and upgrade from 2007 to 2010

Our existing prod farm is MOSS 07 with an integrated SSRS instance using SQL Server 2008, both on Windows Server 2003 64bit boxes. SharePoint databases are on a different SQL Server 2008 server.

I have built a new SharePoint 2010 farm on Windows Server 2008 R2 boxes, using a single SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server as the backend for both SharePoint databases and Reporting Services (installed in Integrated mode). We are going to be using the database-attach method of upgrading our SharePoint farm.

Is there any specific guidance out there on exactly how to migrate/upgrade Reporting Services in this scenario? I've read through some of the MSDN content (How To: Migrate a Reporting Services Installation) but nothing seems to deal specifically with doing this when in Integrated mode with SharePoint. Our business heavily relies on SSRS reports in SharePoint and also shared and custom report subscriptions via email.

We do have a dev SharePoint 2010 farm in a similar configuration that I can test migration/upgrade steps. Thanks.

Microsoft Office 2010 compatibility with SharePoint 2007

Can anyone asssist with subject?

We are running our intranet on MOSS 2007 and office 2003

we want to upgrade/replace our current Office suite 2003 to MS office 2010 - are there know issues regarding the compatibility with MOSS 2007 ?

sharepoint 2010 compatibility with Office 2007

I want to use sharepoint 2010 but use office 2007 along with this for all operations in moss 2010 like excel services, document management also exploit the features available in sharepoint 2010. Is it possible or compatibility issues occur?
I know SPD 2010 is required as SPD 2007 cannot be used to open the 2010 sites.

What compatibility issues present with MOSS 2007 and Office 2010?

We have been running MOSS 2007 for a year now and recently upgraded office workstations to Office 2010.  I am trying to research what compatibility issues might be experienced with this match of products.  Thank you for any examples.

SharePoint 2007 and Office 2010 Compatibility

So far all of my clients that have been piloting Office 2010 have been running into complications with updating documents in a SharePoint 2007 environment.  They are receiving the following notification when trying to save their changes:

<Document Name> has not been uploaded to the server.  Do you want to close this file?  All Microsoft Office files that have changes pending upload to the server can be viewed here:Microsoft Office Upload Center

In the Upload center we have the following status: Upload Failed - Upload Error

No additional information is available, you just have an option to select 'Resolve'.  This tells you to save the document localy and then upload it to the SharePoint server.  Has anyone found a better log location that can be reviewed for status errors with the Upload Center?  Or, is Office 2010 even really usable within a corporate environment running SharePoint 2007?

SharePoint 2007 and MS Office 2010 Compatibility issue

I have MOSS 2007 and MS Office 2007.When i select new document(document template) from document library  and save it then it save to document library.

But when i upgrade MS Office 2007 to MS Office 2010 and save any document then document save locally instead of particular document library.

please suggest if u have any idea.

Does Sharepoint 2007 Server support the new Excel 2010 feaures like slicers? Or do i have to have Sharepoint 2010 to get that working (considering all other components besides Sharepoint 2010 are available in my Sharepoint 2007 environment) ?

Sharepoint 2010 look and feel same as 2007

Is it possible to have the same look and feel/theme of sharepoint 2007 in SP 2010? Even when you upgrade from 2007 to 2010, how can you retain the default look and feel of 2007 in your new SP 2010? thanks.
