Custom NEW User Setup

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I'm having trouble setting up a custom NEW User Screen.  Here is my situation, I have a Request for Access Screen that uses the CreateNewUser Wizard Control.  I want to leave the Question and Answer for this, however I also want a custom NEW User Setup which I build myself to allow the system administrators to setup users, but for this setup I don't want the administrators to have to pick the question and answer for the NEW user, so I would like to bypass this for this setup.  However, my Membership.CreateUser keeps asking for it.  How can I accomplish this?  I've included a copy of my current web.config file.  You will notice a AspNetAdminMemberhip which I use to allow the System Administrators to reset passwords.

InfoPath: Turn User Input into XML with Custom Forms Using Office InfoPath 2003

Office InfoPath 2003 is a new Microsoft Office product that lets you design your own data collection forms that, when submitted, turn the user-entered data into XML for any XML-supporting process to use. With an InfoPath solution in place, you can convert all those commonly used paper forms into Microsoft Office-based forms and end the cycle of handwriting and reentering data into your systems. Today organizations are beginning to realize the value of the mountains of data they collect every day, how hard it is to access it, and are striving to mine it effectively. InfoPath will aid in the design of effective data collection systems. Here the author shows you how to get started.

Large document libraries with a custom user interface

We recently migrated our document management system to SharePoint (WSS 3.0) and I adapted my VB6 client application to search for and retrieve a list of documents from this new SharePoint library using the Lists web service. Although the total number of documents in this library is 90,000 at one site and over 145,000 at another, my VB6 application never retrieves more than 600-700 documents at a time. From reading white papers such as "Working with Large Lists in Office SharePoint Server 2007" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=95450&clcid=0x409), it appears that if my custom user interface limits the number of items returned in a search of these large lists, that it may not be necessary to put these documents into folders. However, our current scanning software, KnowledgeLake Capture, by default places newly scanned documents into folders based on the year, month, day and hour, which means that these documents are placed in nested folders 4 levels deep.

There are also some 20 metadata fields on these document libraries that allow us to filter these document libraries so that search results will in most cases be limited to a few hundred items.

We acquired new servers (Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008) to host our SharePoint libraries and we are running WSS 3.0 S

Proper setup using Infopath and Custom Workflow using VS 2008

I have been struggling for a couple of days, trying to set up a decent
structure for an Infopath project using a custom workflow using Visual Studio 2008.

I had a solution with two projects:

1) Sharepoint 2007 Workflow

2) Infopath 2007 form w/code-behind.

I included the xsn, in the VS solution, but after a day or two,
something went wrong, and I lost some work. I still do not know what
happened, but I could not get my changes to persist afterthat  Doing research I have read that this
stucture, using Infopath xsn, within VS does not work correctly with Source
Control. I am using VSS.

So I since made a change to the set-up so that the .xsn (form template) is separate from
Visual Studio. However, I need to leave the code-behind in VS, since I need to debug

This is my latest problem. I have been unable to attach to the correct
process, as VS generates cachse files, and who knows what else.

My question is simple. What is the supported method for debugging InfoPath
code/behind, which uses a Sharepiont Workflow?

I just also want to say that one should not have
to spend a few days just trying to setup a working development environment.

This should be trouble-free, but it is far from being so. I

How to launch EULA.rtf for the end user agreement before the winforms setup project (installer) actu

Custom User Profile Views or Reports

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to easily create reports or views for user profiles. For example, I want a list of all user profiles where the picture field is blank, though on other occasions I may want to check if Manager is blank, or Office = Sydney, etc. When in Shared Services Admin the 'View User Profiles' view doesn't give me any options to create a new view, add columns to the view or do anything basically. The standard view I look at just contains Account Name, Preferred Name and Email Address. There must be a way of getting this information out of Central Admin. Thanks, Paul.

current user identity in custom security trimmer

The crux of my problem is that I want to impersonate  a user’s NTLM credentials in the context of a SharePoint custom security trimmer to execute HttpWebRequests to check user access to URLs.  When accessing WindowsIdentity.GetCurent() in the security trimmer, the System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity object returns the identity of the application pool running the search query service, NOT the currently logged in user.   When accessing System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrinciple.Identity in the security trimmer, the Microsoft.IdentityModel.Claims.ClaimsIdentity object of the current logged in user is returned.  However, there is a catch.  …   If I execute the following code in a .NET web application, the cast of the ClaimsIdentity to a WindowsIdentity succeeds because the identity has the authentication type of NTLM.    WindowsIdentity winId = (WindowsIdentity)System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity; WindowsImpersonationContext wic = winId.Impersonate(); request.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; //access means a response comes back when a request is made to the url using (HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse()) { returnStatus = true; } wic.Undo(); However, when I execute the same code in the context of the SharePoint security trimmer (the search query service li

Looking for suggestions or ideas how to setup to capture search criteria and present to user if they

Requirements call for the ability to save search values so that they can select them at later times to return the results without having to re-enter the values. They have the ability to search on 4 different types of data (Date, Time and Lat/Long), so they would like to capture what was entered and ONLY if they chose to save those values, it will be saved and next time they login, if they are searching, they can pick an old search and submit it again.   Im thinking that i add a checkbox next to each button, if they check it, it saves the data into a table with there values and username. Next time they login and go tothe search page, if there are any records for them in the table, i present them with a link that displays all the values stored and if they select one, it will run the search again and present them with the results.. does that sound like the right way to handle this request?

Mulitple time and user stamped comments for each custom list row?

Does anything int he UI allow for this type of column to be added to a custom list? or would it have to be a seperate list? And on the subject of connecting two list to each other. Ideally, we would connect two lists by the list ID, having one list look up to another. But then the issue is having to know the ID.Anything in the UI allow a user to select one column, but save the ID for that as part of the lookup? Thanks.

Unable to Customize Custom Lists. Sharepoint Error: User cannot be found.

I am not sure what the best way to put/describe my issue . I am unable to customize my custom list. Steps: 1. Login to sharepoint site. 2. Site Actions -> Site Settings 3. Under Site Administration -> Site Libraries and lists 4. Clicked on a custom list.   Error: Error User cannot be found.   Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Is there a way in VB.Net to embed a custom user control to a web page based on Word or Excel

Hi Everyone.  I'm looking to create a web page that would be used on a local intranet that would use a custom control based on Word and Excel.  I've used code previously to embed it in a Windows application but wasn't sure if anyone knew of any examples out there on how to embed a custom control into a ASP.Net page.
