Problems installing the Ajax Toolkit

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi All

Problems installing Ajax toolkit in MS Visual Studio 2005 Framework 2.050727 SP2

Followed the instructions on this Site:

Was able to build the TemplateVSI in the solution without any problems but the problem I always encounter is the part where I build the SampleWebsite in the solution explorer.

The build fails with 105 errors

Installing in VS 2010 Ajax Control Toolkit 3.5.... Where do I extract the files to after it's downl

Does it matter where I extract the downloaded AjaxControlToolkit files?  Do I extract them to my pc, or to my server?   In a specific VS2010 folder?  Not seeing any documentation on this..

Nothing works after re-installing Ajax Control Toolkit

Hi all,

Someone in this forum suggested I reinstalled AJAX (to fix another issue) and now none of my apps work! :(
I keep getting the error below:

"Error: AjaxControlToolkit requires ASP.NET Ajax 4.0 scripts. Ensure the correct version of the scripts are referenced. If you are using an ASP.NET ScriptManager, switch to the ToolkitScriptManager in AjaxControlToolkit.dll."

I checked my previous ZIP file and noticed the version of AjaxControlToolkit.dll is 3.5.40412.2
So is the new AJAX I've just reinstalled today.

I did some research and people suggested adding ToolkitScriptManager instead. That did not work by the way.
What changed in this "latest" AJAX version? Why am I getting these errors?

Building a grouping Grid with GridView and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit CollapsiblePanel

I've posted an update to this post to apply on demand loading of Details data using ASP.NET AJAX PageMethods. I'm demonstrating the usage if CollapsiblePanelExtender client events on the new post. Check it out.

I admit, Matt Berseth is really inspiring me! Few days ago I pass through 2 of his great posts:

.Surrounding your Data Table and Dialog Controls with ComponentArt Styled Panels
.Building a Grouping Grid with the ASP.NET 3.5 LinqDataSource and ListView Controls
The first one is pure design tips one which I used for making good presentation of my demo here. The 2nd post is actually the idea.

VWDE 2010 Won't Install Ajax Control Toolkit on XP Pro

To my displeasure I cannot find VWD2005 which at one time would generate a complete web.config for Ajax so I downloaded and installed VWDE 2010 to a clean install of XP Pro.

I've created a new tab on the toolbar for the controls but after I select the Ajax dll to add the controls to the toolbar it grinds away and then goes poof and closes down the task leaving VWD look as if I had never even created the tab in the toolbar.

Any advice here?

Think that there is actually errors in ajax toolkit for 2.0 framework...hmm

Im using VS2008, asp.net C# 2.0.

Recently i tryed to correct some stuff on my page and i had a friend to take a look at the stuff...

What i did was that i have Examples page with code examples. Then accordion panes for each code piece...And syntaxhighlighter for each code piece. The code that i presented is read from the txt files wich makes it easyer for me to put new examples on the site...

But the problem is now that two of my accordion panes are not working...and everything works in all other browsers this just happens in Internet Explorer. This is kind of weird and my friends explaination was that there is actually errors in the ajax toolkit dll.

Im using the latest version of ajax toolkit for framework 2.0 wich is 1.0.20229.

My friend said its actually amazing that the toolkit has been out there for that long and it has not been tested that well and that there i still errors in it.

You can test this by your self by doing the exact as i explain:

go here: http://www.simpa.dk/Examples.aspx?cookieCheck=true

click Csharp

and try to open the accordion that is from the bottom 2 or 1 they dont collapse...

but this works in all other browsers then Internet Explore

Create databound nested ajax toolkit accordion programatically(In code Behind)

Can anyone guide me in the right direction or give an example of How I would accomplish this?

I have  this so far but kind of stuck on how to do it programtically if I'm using header and content templates

I have a xmldatasource.. In a nutshell at what point in my code do I need to create a new accordion? does it need to be

in the item_databound handler?

Ajax Control Toolkit problem

I have been trying over a week to make ModalPopup work. Still can't understand how to do it. Can somebody help me? Actually, I didn't find a way to use ANYTHING from the Ajax Control Toolkit.I want to put a ModalPopup with the Toolkit 4 in the Log In of this file:<%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Site.master.cs" Inherits="WebApplication1.SiteMaster" %> <%@ Register      Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit"      Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit"      TagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head id="Head1" runat="server">     <title></title>     <link href="~/Styles/Site.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />     <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="HeadContent" runat="server">     </asp:ContentPlaceHolder>     <script runat="server"> </script> </head> <body>     <form id="Form1"

Having problems installing/setting up SQL Server 2008 Express/R2 for ASP.NET user management on deve

I'm a bit new to installing and configuring, well, just about anything regarding databases, so please bear with me. I'm currently building a couple of ASP.NET MVC 2 sites.  I'm following along with the MVCMusicStore tutorial, and am trying to set up user management using ASP.NET's configuration tool.  The problem is that ASP.NET can't 'see' the database. I have SQL Server 2008 installed on my laptop.  It's the version which is available on the Web Platform Installer (I believe it's Express).  When I try running the aspnet_sqlreg.exe program to set up my user management database, it can't tell that I'm running any version of SQL Server at all.  I get an exception about 'named pipes', and some other things I don't understand at the moment. Obviously, this is all a bit over my head.  Is there an idiot proof guide or tutorial available that describes, step-by-step, how to: 1. Install SQL Server 2008 on a development PC 2. How to configure it to be used by Visual Studio 2010 Professional 3. How to properly upload/modify the db on the production server with what's on the development PC Essentially, all the things that the ASP.NET tutorials gloss over.  Any suggestions, links to documentation, or other nudges in the right direction would be immensely appreciated.

Difference between Rating and RatingExtender control in ajax control toolkit

Hi, Can you tell the difference between Rating and RatingExtender asp.net ajax Control ?

ajax Toolkit

Hi I have been trying to use ajax in my asp .net website developed in 3.5 sp1 2008! The problem is I can see tool kit controls in my tool box but i can not use the controls. like i was using the text box watermark effect but when i run the website the text-box does not show effect and there is no option in text box to add extender. there is only remove extender option. I have code:   <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager2" runat="server">                </asp:ScriptManager>        <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">             <ContentTemplate>                                 First name:                 <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" CssClass="unwatermarked" Width="150" runat="server" />                 <ajaxToolkit:TextBoxWatermarkExtender ID="TextBoxWatermarkExtender1" runat="server"

ë in Ajax control toolkit HTMLEditor in Firefox

If i use signs like ÃƒÂ« in the HTML Editor, in IE, its ok, and works. But if i use ë in firefox in the same page with the HTML Editor. If i press safe the ë is converted to: ? (copy past doesnt work well, but its a square if you put [] to each other). But how is this possible? And how can i solve this problem? In IE its working well, but 50% of the users of the system i build are using Firefox. So it should work in all editors......

Asp AJax ModalPopup Problems

HI, I am invoking a modal formview popup for edit and insert on a gridview selection. When the edit button is first clicked, the popup shows up and on subsequent click it gives errors like    Microsoft JScript Error:Sys.InvalidOperationException:Two Components with the same id.    ctl100_ContentPlaceHolder1_ucopsphone11_mdlPopupPhone cannot be added to the application. The ucopsphone11 is a grid user control within which I placed a modal formview. 1. How to make the modal popup work properly. 2. The update/cancel/command should be inside the popup formview or outside of the modal popup. 3. In the modalPopup usercontrol page_load event I was trying to set default mode. But it fires only once because     of (Not PostBack) during the page load. But when modalPopup is shown it is not fired.      I want to the use same modalPopup for edits/insert.   I have been struggling with this for more than a day. I would appreciate if someone help me move forward with this. Thanks Suresh   Grid View Page protected void GridViewAppPhone_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { GridViewRow row = GridViewAppPhone.SelectedRow; int index = GridViewAppPhone.SelectedIndex; strkey1 = GridViewAppPhone.DataKeys[rows.RowIndex["id"].ToString() Session["papp_id"] = strkey

Goodbye Ajax Toolkit, Hello jQuery UI

Like most developers, I love finding tools that do my work for me and make me look good. And, like most developers, I am extremely wary of adding too much outside crap to a project which can make maintaining it a nightmare. You may end up not only maintaining your own code but someone else's code, or worse, not being able to update the project because a third-party control won't let you. The Ajax Toolkit has some great stuff that is very easy to use. It's from Microsoft so you can be pretty comfortable adding it to a project. Drag and Drop and off you go. But often things don't work out exactly as you would like. Deploying and debugging are not always easy. A viable alternative to the Ajax Toolkit is the jQuery UI. I was happy to see on the jQuery web site they have their own UI controls.very happy. If you are already using jQuery, you don't feel as if you are adding a third party component. And, it seems, Microsoft has 'adopted' jQuery. Here's their website: http://jqueryui.com/. It's also reachable from http://jquery.com/ I decided to try out the DatePicker control, since picking a date is one of the most useful and common tasks a control can do. Downloading and installing the jQuery UI was no more difficult than downloading and installing jQuery itself. The download is customizable; you pick which components you want and which visual theme you want. In the do
