Trying to apply style to a gridview column programatically..

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a grid view that is bound from my code behind.   If the text of a label is equal to the value of a querystring, I want to apply a specific class/style that is in my .css.  I've tried this, but doesn't seem to have any affect...  How can I set the class for a column in the gridview if the two values match?

 protected void gvMenu_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
        if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
            Label lblSubSectionIDForComparing = e.Row.FindControl("lblSubSectionID") as Label;
            Label lblSubSectionNameForComparing = e.Row.FindControl("lblSubSectionName") as Label;

            if (lblSubSectionIDForComparing != null)
                if (lblSubSectionIDForComparing.Text == Request.QueryString["SubSectionID"])
                    e.Row.Cells[2].CssClass = "SubSectionNav"; <-- This is what I thought would work...

A Simple and Extensible Radio Button Style GridView

The GridView is one of the significant controls in ASP.NET 2.0 and later versions. No doubt it reduces a lot of work time. However, customizing the GridView control is not an easy task. For example, it's hard to add a radio button column to the GridView. This article demonstrates the reason why a radio button column cannot act as normal and how to create a simple and extensible radio button GridView.

Tooltip for GridView Column Headers (ASP.Net)

I just wanted to add auto tooltips for my GridView headers. There are couple of ways but I don't want to use javascript and wanted to use simple 'title' attribute. It took couple of hours to get the working code supporting sortable columns. I thought it will be very useful for others. Here's the code and logic behind it.

Use a column as parameter for a sds in another column; gridview

Hola, I have a gridview which is bound to a sds which returns 7 columns and I added two columns from the GUI.  What I want is to fill up the 9th column with DDLs and these  DDLS will get their data from a different sds which is using a stored procedure with a single parameter.  I created the 9th row, used template field, made the sds for 9th row, the stored_procedure, threw a DDL in Item template and all  I need now is to pass a parameter in the first column to the sds in the 9th column.  I can code this but i'm getting tired of aspx.cs :) and would like to do it from the GUI.

Rendering data with HTML tags in the DD Gridview for a selected column

I am having trouble finding out where and how to HTML Encode a cell's data on the Dynamic Data (v4.0) gridview of List.aspx.  As a simple case, suppose I have formatted cell data that is A<br/>B in the DB.    Obviously, I want A stacked on B in the cell.

It seems gridView1.HtmlEncode = true has gone away.

So maybe I'll try to catch it on the RowDataBound event:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)

            if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
                // Html Encode the cells

but this event never fires?

Has anyone figured out how to properly render HTML tags data in the List.aspx's GridView1?

If I figure this out, then I can add a MetaAttribute called something like [EncodeAsHtml(true)] and be on my way.  Thanks!

DataGrid: Tailor Your DataGrid Apps Using Table Style and Custom Column Style Objects

One of the most enduring challenges in writing user interfaces is figuring out how to display large amounts of data efficiently and intuitively without bewildering the user. The problem becomes particularly thorny when the interface must reflect hierarchical relationships within the data that the user needs to modify. The Windows Forms DataGrid control gives developers a powerful and flexible tool to meet this challenge. This article explains its basic operations and shows how to extend the DataGrid to display columns of data in an application-appropriate manner.

Change Default Column Value programatically

On a Document Library Settings Page, there is a new setting in SP2010: "Change Default Column Value". Changing the default value of the Field is different from this value. Does anyone know what this value is and where to set it programatically? Also, what libraries is this setting available on? This code updates the field's default value but not the property mentioned above: SPField field = list.Fields["Column"]; field.DefaultValue = "DefaultValue"; field.Update(); Thanks!

How to use CSS to style just one of the columns in a GridView control

<asp:Boundfield Datafield="City" Headertext="City" sortexpression="City" CONTROLSTYLE-CSSCLASS="allcaps"/> I'm trying to use the CSS property "text transform" to make just one specific GridView column "all caps" (see above), but it has no effect. It only works when I place the reference to the class ".allcaps"  in the main tag at the top of the GridView control---but that makes all columns "all caps".
