SQL 2000 Enterprise Rollback

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

We have a problem with one of our live production systems which runs in SQL 2000 Standard.  The issue is relating to memory utilisation.  We are upgrading to SQL 2000 Enterprise this evening in order to increase memory from 2GB.  However I'm a little concearned as I'm not sure if (In case of major issues) we could revert the SQL 2000 Enterprise database back to SQL 2000 standard.

In theory we will not need to do this, but I need to understand if this is possible for our rollback position.

Any help would be greatfully appriciated.

SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager no longer displays DTS packages

SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager no longer displays DTS packages and the SQL Server Agent jobs that use the DTS packages now fail. The affected servers are running Windows Server 2003 SP2 and SQL Server 2000 SP4 and all update patches for both the OS and SQL Server. The DTS packages are ActiveX scripts that read data from a database table and output that data to a text file on the same server.  They include the database connection string and the SQL account used by the connection string has not changed. I've determined that the DTS packages still exist by trying to re-create them with the same name, but they don't appear in the Local Packages window and they no longer function when the scheduled job that uses then runs. The SQL Server Agent Job error is as follows: Executed as user: <server admin user account>. DTSRun: Loading... Error: -2147467259 (80004005); Provider Error: 11 (B) Error string: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionRead (recv()).] General network error. Check you network documentation. Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Help file: Help context 0. Process Exit Code 1. The step failed. The job has working perfectly for the last 5 years, until about a week ago when it started failing. I have two other servers with the exact same configuration running the same DTS packages and job that still work and the DTS packages show up in Enterprise

sql 2000 Enterprise RTM upgrade to 3a

We plan to upgrade existing sql server enterprise 2000 RTM to SP3a(Chinese Traditional). Since we want to keep all the data after upgrading, can we use the original database backup(RTM) and restore to new version(Sp3a) without any error?

P.S: The RTM database backup have only basic item such as table, storeproc, index, without any replication items.

Thanks and regards,

SQL 2000 Enterprise manager

We have a SQL 2000 server that we are maintaining but the issue is we have upgraded our desktops to windows 7 64bit and the install we have does not work.  i have read in other forums that you can use enterprise manager from SQL2005 express to access and manage it but before i do that and mess up the entire DB i wanted to ask and see if they were correct.

How to run eglobal.sql on SQL Server Enterprise 2000

In Project Server 2007 running with SQL Server, there is a script "eglobal.sql" which generates the file "Enterprise Global" :

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Sql\Project Server\CORE\1033\eglobal.sql.

But when I tried to load it in one of my servers with SQL Server 2000 (I didn't tried on SQL Server 2005), I got the error message:
"The file ....CORE\1036\eglobal.sql contains a long row, which exceed the 64 K limit."
So, how to run this script?

Thanks for your help

MVC + Frames in an enterprise web application

Hi people

I'm designing an enterprise web application interface based on an old system, and i planned to migrate the old frames layout to master page, but i noticed that if i use masterpages, the application users will be able to see the querystring or route path, and it could be a security issue.

What is the best way to avoid this? Using frames? Masterpages with iframes as content? Masterpages with all PartialViews loaded by jquery?

sql server 2000 vs 2005

i would like to ask what the difference between sql server 2000 and 2005

sql server 2005 enterprise edition is required

sql serve 2005 enterprise edition is required to work with microsoft enterprise blocks

MVC + Enterprise Library

Not a MVC specific question, but as that's what I'm doing I thought I'll post here.

While looking into the source code of an existing application, I stumbled upon MS Enterprise Library, and as I only heard about these "application block" stuff decided to look into it.

From the theory it sounds like a pretty usefull thing and it made me wonder if other's are using it succesfully along with MVC projects (I know they are not really related!)?

Pro's and Con's?

I like the database block, as I did not get to any real database development the last 1.5 years, for instance. (Bad excuse I know).  Having an IoC thrown in there (Unity) sounds like I can pretty much stop using 3rd party libraries like I do now all over the place.

Using the ConsoleTraceListener with the Enterprise Library 3.1 Logging Block

I'm new to using the Logging application block.  I think I have a pretty good handle on how things work.  However, I'm running into a problem.  I'm using the RollingFlatFileListener and I have formatted the logging template to be more like the logging we are replacing.  However, in our console apps when the ConsoleTraceListener is added it still logs it out in the default text template format.  Is there any way to get around this?  Currently it looks like I will have to create a new TraceListener called FormattedConsoleListener that allows a text formatter to be associated with it.  Is this the only way?

Data Truncation issue with Enterprise Library Logging WriteLog stored Proc

Hi ,

I'm using Enterprise Library Logging  feature for logging. The issue i am facing is when the Logging message is too large(more than 65534 chars) ,complete data  is not logged in the Formatted Mesage column which is  of data Type nText .

I am able insert complete data if i try inserting from Sql insert Query from sql management studio. Do i need to add any attributes to data base listener or do i need to change the sp.

Is there any way to increase the WriteLog stored proc param size in EnterpriseLibrary.Logging config file ? . Please let me know.

Thanks In Advance.

Using Enterprise Library for first time

I wan to use the enterprise library for the first time. Is there any samples, quick start guide or ebook is available for a quick start and learn the basics.

I have vs2008, so which version of EL should I use?

And if somebody can just brief about Enterprise Library. Because as per my understanding, is this a mixture of design patterns and some pre-made blocks of source code.
