Content migration from MOSS Enterprise edition to MOSS Standard edition

Hi,     I have developed a web application using MOSS 2007 enterprise edition. I have customized the site using custom ASPX pages, custom Webpart and custom features. Also I referred http://blog.brianfarnhill.com/2009/03/19/changing-list-forms-through-code/ for updating the contents of list forms. I have configured SQL-Form based Authentication for this site. Now I have a need to migrate this site to an environment which has MOSS 2007 standard edition and use a Active Directory Authentication instead of SQL-Form based Authentication. So can anyone guide me wether this scenario is possible or it will create any compatibility issue?      Which are the precautions I need to consider for performing this task? I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks, Patav

Upgrade SQL 2005 standard Runtime edition to SQL 2005 standard edition full version

We have a MS SQL 2005 standard edition runtime license. The SQL Server Runtime license is a license that lets an independent software vendor (ISV) embed the complete SQL Server code into a solution for use only by the ISV application. The customers of the ISV cannot use this SQL Server product to run other applications or to develop new applications, databases, or tables. Now we want to add a new database to the SQL. We know that we have to buy a full version of SQL 2008 standard edition. But the question is: How can we add a new database to the existing SQL. Do we have to uninstall SQL runtime license and install the full version and migrate the existing databse or can we change the key and add new databases to the SQL server?

SQL Server Standard Edition and Servers with more than 4 CPUs:

Hi, We are planning configure a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition on a server with 8 CPUs - two quad core with hyper threading. The server also runs many SSIS packages and SSRS reports. We would like to assign the highest priority to SQL database engine. Considering the fact that SQL Standard does not leverage more than 4 CPUs, what would be the best way to dedicate most of CPU power to SQL Server database engine? I already found that I can’t dedicate SPUs to SQL Server through this post: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqldatabaseengine/thread/3b797fc8-3bea-422d-b172-7d1a93195c69 I am a bit concern that manipulating the default settings for Affinity and SQL Server priority might cause harm. That is why I am asking for a good practice for specific circumstance explained here. Any help would be appreciated, Max

Hi All,   I need to upgrade from MSDE to SQL server 2000 Standard Edition how can we proceed with this. I am new to this and any help will highly appreciated. What are the things i should take care before going to this version up gradation ?

Your upgrade is blocked.. when adding components to SQL 2005 Standard Edition SP1

Name: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools Hello, I am having a problem when trying to add the Client Components to an existing installation of SQL 2005 Standard Edition SP1 running on Windows 2003 Standard. The server was originally built with SQL 2005 Standard Edition and had SP1 installed at a later date. I am using the CD that SQL was originally installed with which is not a service packed copy of SQL. The reason given when clicking the details button is as follows: Reason: Your upgrade is blocked. For more information about upgrade support, see the "Version and Edition Upgrades" and "Hardware and Software Requirements" topics in SQL Server 2005 Setup Help or SQL Server 2005 Books Online. Build version check: Your upgrade is blocked because the existing component is a later version than the version you are trying to upgrade to. To modify an existing SQL Server component, go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, select the component you would like to modify, and then click Change/Remove. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Steve

Is peer-2peer replication going to be part of Standard Edition?

We currently use merge replication and have had numerous issues with it.  Primarily that there is a single point of failure. We are looking at moving to peer-2-peer transactional replication but we are currently running standard edition and have no plans/budget to upgrade. Will peer-2-peer be available in standard edition in the near future?   Thanks, Paul

Replication option SQL 2005 Standard Edition

Hi, We are using SQL 2005 Standard Edition.  We would like to use Replication for one of our database. I would like to know answers for the questions. 1. Can we use Replication features with SQL 2005 Standard Edition 2. Can we use DR site with replication for the reporting purpose?  Is there any risks associated with option? 3. Do we still need to take transaction log backup on the production server if we use replication.   Thanks.

Sharepoint 2010 Standard Edition Custom List Reporting Using Report Builder 3.0

hi, i'm making this report from a sharepoint list. i want to add some of the fields as the parameters for the report. (e.g : Category, Department)

i tried to run the report, the parameters were shown as expected

but the problem is when i create a query in the dataset.

i'm using caml query builder for the query expression. it goes like this :

<RSSharePointList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
  <ListName>IT Helpdesk</ListName>
  <ViewFields>
    <FieldRef Name="Employee_x0020_Number" />
    <FieldRef Name="Title" />
    <FieldRef Name="Department" />
    <FieldRef Name="Category" />
    <FieldRef Name="Time_x0020_Spent" />
    <FieldRef Name="INT_x0020_Time_x0020_Spent" />
    <FieldRef Name="Severity_x0020_Level" />
    <FieldRef Name="Ticket_x0020_Source" />

The 'Measure expressions' feature is not included in the 'Standard Edition' SKU

I'm following the project in Analysis Services Step by Step and have this trouble when I'm trying to deploy My First Cube in Chap 03. I'm not using Standard Edition. I'm using Developer Edition. What do I have to do to be able to continue?

Regards,
Yvonne

Edition Downgrade

All,

I by mistake installed SQLServer 2008 Enterprise Edition when I should have actually installed SQLServer 2008 Stabdard Edition. Does the "Edition Upgrade" feature also allow one to downgrade as well. I tried that feature and it is not allowing as it is failing in the Edition Upgrade Rule Check.

For now, I'm uninstalling and reinstalling from the correct edition. But, isnt there a simpler way to address this?

rgn
