Im facing a issue when im trying to create a Index on a view which created using table-valued function. following is a script I used to create the view followed by script to create index on that view.

	SELECT dbo.Table2.PeriodYear,
		  SUM(dbo.Table1.Qty) CurrentMonthQty,
		  SUM(dbo.Table1.Val) CurrentMonthVal
	FROM dbo.Table1, dbo.Table2, dbo.Table3
	WHERE dbo.Table1.DateCol = dbo.Table2.DateCol
	AND dbo.Table1.ProductCol = dbo.Table3.ProductCol

Error Creating Controls in design view

Some days ago my designer started to show "Error creating control - [controlname] Value cannot be null. Parameter name: parseText" instead of all of my server side controls in all of my web projects - including both framework 2.0 and 4.0 projects. I tried many tips I found on the net, including restarting VS, cleaning the temporary asp.net folders and even I reinstalled the whole VS pack, but I still get the same error.

This occures in both VS 2010 and Microsoft Expression Web 4.

Any help appreciated.

Getting error while creating Data Source View in SSAS 2008

Getting below error while creating data source view from wizard in SSAS 2008, at the time of clicking "Finish" button. However, created data source successfully.

Custom Control Design view error

I have created a custom control from scratch and it works fine as in you can build the project that uses it and it works fine at runtime. Problem is when you go to design view the control shows an error in the place of where the control should be rendered.

Error: '<SomeValue>' Could not be set to '<SomeProperty>'

This shows up on all my custom set properties. These properties are created as basic as possible. I can give the properties values in Source view and run the app just fine. I can even add a Onclick event. If I don't set any custom properties the control will render fine in Design view. It's only when I set a value to a custom property.

Property Code Example:

public string Text
                string ret = "";
                object obj = ViewState["Text"];
                if (obj != null)
                    ret = obj.ToString();
                return ret;
                ViewState["Text"] = value;

I've even removed the Category and Description tags with no difference.

I don't know if what I said makes sens, but I hope it

Very strange error reported in View (Might be a bug in VS2k8?)

As I say in the title of my post this "may" be a bug in VS2k8 Pro, I have seen these strange little things happen before but whenever you utter the word "bug" people tend to get defensive, so I say it "may" be ;)

Basically I have two List(Of MyOwnClass) and I am going to enumerate through these lists on my view.

I add the Import statement to the top of my view so that my custom class can be used on it.

I add a very simple loop,

                    <%For Each CPDCourse As Download In CType(ViewData("CPDAvailable"), List(Of Download))%>
                        <td style="width:100%">
                            <a href="<%=CPDCourse.URL%>">
                            <a href="<%=CPDCourse.URL%>">
                                <img style="border:none;" alt="View Image" src="../../Content/Images/digitaltraining/view.jpg" />

Error creating Read Item or Read List operation in Sharepoint Designer 2010

In terms of high-level requirements, I need to pull in lists from a couple of different web apps.  To do this, I’m using SPD 2010 to create an External Content Type for the list of interest.  I’m able to create a SOAP Service or WCF Service connection just fine.  However, when I try to create the external content type and create a Read Item Operation on one of the GetList or any other Get* (or other Update methods for that matter) methods, I get the following error:"The method that your operation is based on has parameters with complex types that do not have default parameterless constructor.  This kind of data source methods cannot be used in Business Data Catalog."I tried defining an operation on the “AddAttachment” method, and that worked just fine.  I also tried providing default values to the listName and viewName parameters when creating the SOAP Service connection, but still get the error.  Same issue with a WCF Service connection as well. Does anyone know if this is a 2010 issue, or am I approaching this requirement incorrectly?  What are other approaches for connecting to lists that reside in a different web app than yours?
