SQL Reporting Services Data Connector for Dynamics CRM 4.0 issue

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I can't find a Dynamics CRM topic and I'm hoping someone here will recognize the problem that we are having with integration between Dynamics and SRS.

Dynamics CRM server deployed fine. But we are having this problem when trying to install the Dynamics SRS Data Connector (an additional component that is supposed to be installed locally on the SRS server):

Trouble is, the SQL server is a default instance, and SRS is hosted on a default web site listening on port 80. In fact, this is just a plain default install of SQL 2005 and SRS 2005 on one server. Nothing has been customized. And yet we get this error when we try to install SRS Data Connector on the local SRS machine:

"Unable to validate SQL Server Reporting Services Report Server installation. Please check that it is correctly installed on the local machine."

But the SRS is installed and running fine! I can even see and run reports that the Dynamics CRM Server install had created on the SRS server! And yet the setup program insists that SRS is not installed and it won't proceed with installation.

SQL Server: Display Your Data Your Way with Custom Renderers for Reporting Services

SQL Server 2005 Reporting Servicesis a great tool that offers a centralized approach to storing and rendering reports. It also lets users view and download reports without installing additional software. Plus, reports can be saved in any number of different formats using custom report renderers. In this article, the author will develop one such report renderer that outputs HTML reports, but the skills you'll learn can easily be used to create a renderer for Microsoft Word documents or any other format of your choosing.

Kerberos issue with SQL Reporting Services 2005 on Server 2003 R2

Hi Guys, apologies if this is the incorrect forum, so moderators, feel free to move it to SQL/IIS/SharePoint as appropriate... [Windows Server Security moderator pushed me this direction]I have a test environment that I'm trying to get SQL Reporting Services 2005 SP3 working in integrated mode with SharePoint 2007 SP2.The environment is all in VMWare, running Server 2003 R2 x86 and is layed out like this:SERVER A:AD/DNS/DHCPSERVER B:SQL 2005 SP3 CU8SERVER C:SharePoint 2007 SP2 Dec 09 CU- Central admin on port 9000- SSP on port 9001- MySite on port 81- Main Content on port 80SQL Reporting Services 2005 SP3 CU8- Reporting Service website on port 82SERVER D:SharePoint 2007 SP2 Dec 09 CU- Central admin on port 9000- SSP on port 9001- MySite on port 81- Main Content on port 80SQL Reporting Services 2005 SP3 CU8- Reporting Service website on port 82Through the use of DNS and (SharePoint) Alternate Access Names, SERVER D is used to deliver the Main Content in SharePoint and the Reporting Service website.  SERVER C is used to deliver the Central Admin, SSP and MySite.I've set up SPN's for the SharePoint App Pools, using the following: [main content] setspn -S HTTP/SERVERA DOMAIN\AppPoolUserA setspn -S HTTP/SERVERA.FQDN DOMAIN\AppPoolUserA setspn -S HTTP/SERVERB DOMAIN\AppPoolUserA setspn -S HTTP/SERVERB.FQDN DOMAIN\AppPoolUserA [repor

"An error occurred during printing. (0x8000405)" eror - reporting services issue

We are getting this error: "An error occurred during printing. (0x8000405)" from time to time - 70% of the time when we are trying to use a printer button within report manager. It happens if we preview report or just print it. We noticed if we restart RS services, the error will stop for a little bit and then starts again. We don't print that much and it will come back after just a few reports printed. Let me know if you had a similar issue. thanks!

reporting services xy scatter chart with three data series

Hi, I have a report that includes an XY scatter chart with three data series.  Two of the data series are + and - tollerance bands and the thrid data series is the test points.  The data displays in the graph but I only seem to be able to get all three series to display as a line or all three to display as data points.  I need the tolerance bands to be a line and the test point to be displayed as data points without a line joining them up. Please can you provide a solution.   Thanks

How to save Windows credentials to a data source in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 using Visual

I am trying to create a shared data source for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 that uses a specific Windows user ID and password to connect to the database. Using the Report Manager web interface, if I create a shared data source and specify "Credentials stored securely in the report server", I can check the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. This tells SSRS that the user ID and password I specify are from a Windows user, not a SQL Server user. I want to create the shared data source using Visual Studio though. In Visual Studio I have an option to use stored credentials but there is no equivalent of the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. SSRS always assumes that user and password are for a SQL Server user, not a Windows user, and thus the connection fails. Does anyone know how to tell Visual Studio that the stored credentials are for a Windows user?

In Reporting Services: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermissio

Hello all,In Reporting Services through http://myserver/mydbinstance/Pages/Report.aspx blah de blah blah, I get this error:Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.Actually, the report runs just fine, but some fields had the famous #Error in them. I put some old fashioned debug in my report to TRY, CATCH, END TRY and get the problem to the report so that I could see this report finally run in production. Yes, it runs just fine in VS2005. I have custom code in the report code window that does its own custom connection to an SQL database through "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection" and "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand" to pull in data that is not part of any of the datasources in the report. When I execute the report through the Report Manager or Report site under IIS, the report will run, but I get these errors in every field that uses functions to populate the data.I have searched the web for 3 days now, and the best answers involve using either CASPOL or the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Configuration wizard in Administrative Tools on the server. (I understand that the wizard does the same thing as CASPOL, just through a GUI.) I have followed those steps, but still get the error.I do not know what I need to do to make these DLLs th

SQL 2008 Reporting Services Report Parameter and Analysis Services issue after upgrade

I have upgraded my SQL 2000 database and analysis server and SQL 2005 reporting services server to a new instance of SQL 2008 running database engine, analysis services and reporting services.

The analysis services database migrated successfully and I have got the database into a state where it processes fine but I am having the following problems.

- My Reports show in reporting services but the drop down list parameters are all empty.
If I change the parameter in report builder to use the display name instead of the uniquename then the drop down list populates and works until I select a value that contains a space character and then it reports a problem with the dataset used by the report.

Query for the dataset used to populate my parameter.
with member [Measures].[GroupUniqueName] as '[Site].CurrentMember.UniqueName' member [Measures].[GroupDisplayName] as'[Site].CurrentMember.Name' select { [Measures].[GroupUniqueName], [Measures].[GroupDisplayName] } on columns, { [Site].[Group].members } on rows FROM [Invoice Reporting]

Query used by the report, filtering on the selected parameter value from the drop

Reporting Services 2008: "HTTP status 401: Unauthorized" Issue

I'm getting the error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized" whenever I try to list the reports on my reporting server. The weird thing is, it works when I run the asp.net application on my dev machine hitting the server reporting services web service url (http://www.example.com/reports/reportservice2005.asmx?wsdl) but when the asp.net app is installed on the server (running iis 7) hitting the same url I get the error. Here's my set up:

Issue with Reporting Services connecting on a 2005 cluster

Hi all,

I'm new to RS, and we've currently got a setup that functions fine under two criteria:

1) It is called via localhost; and
2) A datasource used Windows Integrated Security

Any other combination, and we are returned a login error.

This is problematical as we're looking to deploy RS across the intranet, with a specific URL, and control access to it via network logins, so this a pretty major first hurdle for us!

The database is sat on a SQL2005 cluster, the web server is windows 2003.

Any pointers much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Reporting Services 2008 Cache Data

In my development environment, I don't want to recall (if I can say that) the underlying query every time I click on the preview pane. In SSRS 2005, that does not happen unless click on the refresh button, but 2008 it's doing it all the time!!!!! this report takes some time to run and every time I'm even moving some text boxes and I click the preview pane, the think just goes to the server again and re-pulls the data again!!!! WHY???? do I have to change some setting some where so it does not do this????

Reporting Services 2005 - XML stored in DB as data source

i need to implement current scenario:

1. the report will have an ID as input parameter

2. according to this ID it will pull out an XML from database table

3. use the XML as data source

and I have no even an idea where to start.

Could anybody be so kind and help me with this?

Thank you in advance

2010 Visio Services Data Auto Refresh Issue

I have published vdw diagram in Sharepoint 2010 Shared Documents. The diagram data is linked to SQL database.

When I view the diagram in the browser, unless I click dedicated "Refresh" button on the top left at the sharepoint page, data is not updating.

I have changed all the SP 2010 Global settings to minimal value = 0 (as per previous post called 2010 Visio Services Data Refresh Issue).

Still you need to click dedicated "Refresh" button on the top left at the sharepoint page in order to see updated data.

In the article called "Visio Services for SharePoint 2010" is stated that new Visio service supports AUTOMATIC REFRESH.

Am I missing something? Is it possible to have a visio diagram with AUTOMATIC REFRESH published in SharePoint 2010?

I can do some workarounds like publishing in web parts page that has auto pooling, but my understanding was that the Visio diagram refresh is event based on data change only - means if data do not change 10 minutes there will be no calls?
