Hi, I don't know where to post but if moderators could move this thread to a correct place, I'd appreciate it. I am not sure which forum is for when it comes to VoIP/SIP.
I am looking into developing an SIP application that will monitor for INVITEs and gather the information, which I can handle the rest when it comes to displaying caller information (like in Windows Media Center for Vista). As far as I understand it, in order to receive INVITEs, I must register with the server, such as Asterisk (I use trixbox ), right? I have already created an extension for receiving phone calls in either a Windows forms application, or Windows Media Center (remember, I can handle the rest), so that's no big deal.
Since I'm not developing a fully-fledged softphone application, what are some approaches I can use for monitoring SIP traffic?
Anyone who's interested in following the SIP tutorial can be found here . I've just got the basics done and I really wanted to try to avoid third-party SDK if I can, but a freeware will work fine (although I had a hard time finding one).
PS (OT): It's been a long time since I last use the old MSDN Forum and I feel like I'm a stranger to the forum.
