I have a two part application written in VB.NET which uses an IPC connection to communicate between an Internet Explorer Add-On and an application running in the Notification area. Under Windows 7 it appears that UAC will not allow a connection unless
it is turned down to the "Never Notify" setting. When the client tries to connect to the server a RemotingException is thrown with the message, "Access is denied."
This functionality is absolutely critical to the application, but it may make my customers uneasy to turn down UAC. Is there a way to configure the IPC host and client so that a connection is allowed without turning down UAC to dangerous levels?
