System.DirectoryServices NOT available

I have simply copied a page from a VS2005 project to a VS2010 project, and it will not work.

NO code-behind, just a simple Page_Load function in the .aspx page.

and okay, since this editor complete f's up a cut and paste from VS, I will type it all out....wonderful!

<script runat="server">

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EvnetArgs e)

{

   System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry ...

}

</script>

This is really all you need to see.

The System.DirectoryServices is not available in intellisense and gives an error if I try to run this.

I have added the reference to my VS project - no go.

I have added a reference as an @Import at the top of the page - no go.

All other System classes appear to be available, but not DirectoryServices, so anyone know the secret handshake to get this to work in VS 2010?

IIS Crash with Faulting application w3wp.exe, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42

The scenario is that, a .Net Webservice is making calls to C++ DLL (made from VC6 studio) This app works perfectly well for sometimes or over a period or for a high volume of hits and suddenly you see IIS crash along with service crash with the following error "Faulting application w3wp.exe, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42" There is no pattern for this problem. The work around is to restart the IIS.    Can anybody tell me what could be the issue here?

"Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727'.... " issue and use custom config file

Hi, My Winform applilcation has used Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common namespace(assembly :Microsoft.Sqlserver.smo.dll/Microsoft.Sqlserver.ConnectionInfo.dll) and developed in .NET 4.0. Problem:Application is throw an exception when it tries to use above assembly reference methods. Full error text is shown below, "Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information. " Error is resolved when we include "app.config" file with below code, <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0"/> </startup> </configuration> But, I need to keep configuration file as "renamed.config" and not to include app.config file as of the project requirement.I have set configuration file as "renamed.config" file using below code, //AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetData("APP_CONFIG_FILE", "d:\\reanmed.config" ); I have also included <Startup> element in this "renamed.config" configuration file and removed the app.config file.But it raise me below error, it always expect app.config file with <Startup> element to resolve this iss

Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in t

First, yes I've read every article I can find including this one: http://msmvps.com/blogs/rfennell/archive/2010/03/27/mixed-mode-assembly-is-built-against-version-v2-0-50727-error-using-net-4-development-web-server.aspx Of course it's for web server stuff, but I found this in my config file and added it. However, my problem now is that if I build in release mode I get a hard error in the error list telling me the same thing, even though it runs fine in debug and has the information in my app.config file. The really anoying part is that the error doesn't tell you WHICH assembly is the offending one. Anyone have any ideas?

Creating assembly throwing an error as system.directoryservices assembly is not in the SQL Server

Hi, I am trying to create an assembly (DLL file that created by C# ) which uses System.DirectoryServices assembly. When I try with following script Create ASSEMBLY Addresstype From 'C:\ActiDirectoryFunctions\ActiveDirectoryFunctions.dll' I am getting following Error Assembly 'ActiveDirectoryFunctions' references assembly 'system.directoryservices, version=2.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a.', which is not present in the current database. SQL Server attempted to locate and automatically load the referenced assembly from the same location where referring assembly came from, but that operation has failed (reason: 2(The system cannot find the file specified.)). Please load the referenced assembly into the current database and retry your request. From above error message, I learnt that System.DirectoryServices assembly is not in the SQL Server. I am using SQL SERVER 2005 SP2 and .Net Framework 3 is there in the machine How to manually add this assembly into this SQL Server Machine? Please let me know if you know Thank you, Raj Dreaming a world without any war in anywhere

Could not load file or assembly '0 bytes loaded from System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, Publ

Hi I have a clickonce deployed application in my machine. When I tried to load the application, 90% of the application window is getting loaded but finally, I get the following error: Could not load file or assembly '0 bytes loaded from System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. I have read somewhere that this error could be caused when something goes wrong with the .net framework in the machine. My machine is having .Net framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. So which framework should I reinstall? The application is developed using .net 2.0. Also, please let me know how the application is partially loading(90%) if the framework is corrupted.? Regards Anoop.

  • .NET Framework 2.0 SP2

I was unable to apply the patch KB913384 because, I think, the .NET 2.0 is at level SP2.   My only solution was to uninstall ALL of them (3.5 sp1, 3.0 sp2, and 2.0 sp2), then install back the base .N

inequality search with System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalSearcher?

The System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement are a great time-saver when working with Active Directory!  But now I'm stuck.

Is it possible to use inequality searches with PrincipalSearcher?  For instance, i have users with three types:

Glubflabs
Abadabs
Foos

and possibly more.  I want only non-Foo users.  With PrincipalSearcher's underlying DirectorySearcher, i could give it a string filter like this:

filter.Append("(&(objectCategory=Person)(objectClass=user)(sAMAccountName=*)(!description=Foo))");

With PrincipalSearcher, that inequality doesn't seem to be possible!  I've searched all through MSDN articles and haven't found anything that covers this.

Any help is appreciated!

System.Directoryservices vs activeds

I have a dumb question - If I have a reference to System.Directoryservices in my .NET application, should the system have activeds.tlb imported into registry ? Is there a relation between using System.DirectoryServices and activeds ?

Thanks.
