Image stretch inside a grid stops working horizontally once columns are added to grid.

I have a simple setup of a window. Window contains a grid, inside the grid there is an image. I want the image to always stretch across the entire cell. I've set it's Stretch property to Fill and it works fine, as long there is only one column in the parent grid. As the window is resized, the image stretches correctly. As soon as I add another column, the image stops stretching horizontally. Vertially it works just like before, horizontally it now appears with a fixed width corresponding to the width of the picture used as the source. Does not matter which column it's positioned in, and I've tried encapsulating it into another grid but behaviour does not change. It behaves the same in both Visual studio 2010 designer and at runtime. In addition when I tried to encapsulate it in a second grid, this seond grid also now has altered behavior - instead of sizing itself to it's container (both height and width are not set) as it's parent grid does, it now sizes itself to its contents - the image. But only horizontally. What is going wrong here, is this a bug or am I missing something, and any advice on how I can get the image to fill one of the cells of a grid with more then one column?

Creating a pivot of a collection and displaying it in a databound grid with dynamic columns

Hi,

I'm trying to create a pivot of some data that I have about translation.

Basically what I have now is a collection of "Translation" objects which look like that :

Public Class SystemText
  Inherits Entity

#Region "Private variables"
  Private _textCategory As String
  Private _textName As String
  Private _languageCode As String
  Private _description As String
#End Region

#Region "Properties"
Public Overridable Property TextCategory() As String

Webform Grid Control With Varying Columns

I will do my best to explain what I am trying to accomplish.  I am trying to create a recipe system that will pull material amounts from an already built inventory database upon request for testing purposes of the different recipe runs.  What is throwing me for a loop is that each time a user will request a recipe comparison they will have a different number of recipe trial runs for comparison purposes.  In order to do this I'm guessing you will need to generate a gridview-like control with a dynamic number of columns which would be specified on a web form page prior to arriving at the recipe formulation page which will contain the control for the recipe formulation.  As a result the user will have different columns and rows on this formulation page, with the rows being a static number of 30 (30 being maximum amount of ingredients to include in each recipe).  The columns will contain the recipes to be compared, i.e. ProductRun1, ProductRun2, ProductRun3, where the number of ProductRunX will be determined by user input.  So the user when they come to this aspx page will be presented with a blank editable grid of X columns by 30 rows deep.  The left-most column will contain the ingredient names in a drop down box for users to select to input into their recipe and the rest of the columns will be editable fields where the user can type in t

Building a grouping Grid with GridView and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit CollapsiblePanel

I've posted an update to this post to apply on demand loading of Details data using ASP.NET AJAX PageMethods. I'm demonstrating the usage if CollapsiblePanelExtender client events on the new post. Check it out.

I admit, Matt Berseth is really inspiring me! Few days ago I pass through 2 of his great posts:

.Surrounding your Data Table and Dialog Controls with ComponentArt Styled Panels
.Building a Grouping Grid with the ASP.NET 3.5 LinqDataSource and ListView Controls
The first one is pure design tips one which I used for making good presentation of my demo here. The 2nd post is actually the idea.

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

So when a client needs a custom report or some sort of custom development using Great Plains, most of the time I will have to track down the data in the system by running this query and find the table(s) it is in.

Adding Multiple Columns and Rows in GridView without using a Database

This article describes on how to add multiple columns and rows in GridView without using a database. Basically the GridView will be populated with data based on the values entered in each TextBoxes on Button Click and retain the GridView data on post back.

add columns with textboxes in gridview using C#

'm working on a shopping cart in a website and I have my items(which have been added to the cart) in an arraylist. And using these values I've read the rest of the values from the db and and have populated on the gridview successfully.

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

Carefully designed, with powerful script API, this editable DHTML grid is easy configurable with XML, and shows convincing results working with large amounts of data. jqGridView allows easy implementation of nice looking(managed through css). jqGridView is not platform-depending plug-in, it can be used with different web -programming platforms like: ASP .NET/ASP, PHP, JAVA, CGI scripts etc. jqGridView has hight bowser compatibility.

Sorting GridView Columns Manually

We all know that GridView columns can be sorted automatically when SQLDataSource is being used. But what if you are not using SqlDataSource to populate the GridView. Sorting the GridView manually is pretty straight forward task take a look at the code below

dynamically adding sql server columns based on number of files in fileuploader

I want to create a new table to sql database at runtime.  The column names would be "Name", "Date", "Event".  I would also like to have one more column name "Image" but the problem is that since the amount of images will vary, I want the application to count the amount of files in the Multiple fileuploader and then add a image column to the table for the respected amount of files.

For example if i am uploading 3 files in the multiple fileuploader, the names should be "Name", "Date", "Event", "Image1", "image2", Image3"

I also would like that table name to be name dynamically from the textbox Name when the user enters the information.

I have the following code to make a new table, but I dont know how to name the fields at runtime like previously asked please help!!!

Dim objConn As New SqlConnection("Server=<servername>;uid=<userid>;pwd=<password>;database=master")

objConn.Open()

How to let user edit selected gridview columns, not entire row

Hello!-

I've got a gridview I would like to let the user edit a couple of columns.  Seems like everything I'm coming across so far makes the entire row editable.

Hopefully the solution isn't too complicated.  Can someone point me in the right direction?
