Hi there
situation: our webmaster added a group and a few users on a page via Actions -> Alert Me -> Send Alerts To the users are also viewable via Site Actions -> Site Settings -> User alerts all neccessary users or groups are added for alerting.
problem: even if everything looks okay, on just one site the alerting does not work when a user uploads a new document.
question: does anybody have any clue what i could test or do to correct this?
as i told, the same users work on another site, so it's not possible, that users or groups are not mail enabled.
thanks for any help.
Question from my staff was how can we limit an internal site from sending out alerts for all changes made from a site. We only want to give users on certain sites the ability to view their own alerts when they post under their name and not view when others post to the site? Reason being we are limiting users to view only what we want them to view and not all views are for everyone. That is why we created certain pages to allow users access to see what is available for them or their group. As it turns out if we limit them to this and they setup an alert to view all changes they bypass our security restrictions to view only what we want them to view. They need to be able to contribute to the site and we don't want to create two sites for the same purpose. That would just make matters worse so its best to keep all users adding to a single task database then having two of them use the same functionality. There are other reason we don't want to create other sites as well but I just wanted to see if anyone out there has used been able to find out if alerts are manageable from the administrator point of view.
I know I can view all alerts for the site and remove those that user create but that defeats the purspose of having them set up alerts on their own. We just want to disable the feature that any changes on the list ar
Hi all,
Was wondering if i create an alert for multiple users at the same time and select to only send alert when "Someone else changes an event created by me", is sharepoint smart enough to know who to route alert to?
For example, I create an alert all at once for john, joe, sal and mike and select to only "send when someone else changes an event created by me." If Sal created an item and it was changed by Mike, will SharePoint know to send the alert only to Sal?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

When we use the out of the box wf in sharepoint lets say Document approval then it sends an email to the assigned user where user can edit the task with in email, they don't have to come back to Sharepoint to edit the task.
I am looking for a way so that i can send email to the user with the controls in the custom task forms. So that they can just Complete the task from email. they dont have to come back to sharepoint task list to edit and complete the task.
Is there any workaround for this.
Hi, I am new to this forum am relativly new to sharepoint. I have set up a Task page and enabled alerts for assigned to. This is working correctly and only the user the task is assigned to gets the initail email. However when anyone updates the task the email goes to a number of users not just the assigned uers. There are no workflows setup. The below notification should only have gone to the user without the line through there name. Is there anyway to change this?
Thank you

I am having problems with a user control. I want my solution to have a separate project for holding my user controls.
The main project can get a reference to this user control project and can import this user control dll into my main project.
Thanks in advance,

I have a user control that I place on a page severl times. When I make a selection on a ddl in one one control the SelectedIndexChanged event fires for all the control on the page for that ddl. So I get duplication of an insert that I do. Is there a way to make sure these events are isolated so this doesn't happen.
Thanks,
Hello!-
I've got a gridview I would like to let the user edit a couple of columns. Seems like everything I'm coming across so far makes the entire row editable.
Hopefully the solution isn't too complicated. Can someone point me in the right direction?
