Active Directory - User Deletion - Sync with MOSS 2007

Greetings -

I need to know if there is a sync tool that can scan all sites in a site directory and remove users that have been deleted or marked inactive within Active Directory?  I work in a company which has freaquent turn over in some positions due to internships and the like and I want to ensure that we have clean site permissions.

Thank you for any suggested sites or addins.

SQL 2008 servers and MOSS 2007 with SSRS

I need help figuring out the limitations in a multi-database server environment and MOSS 2007 installation with SSRS.  Here is the run down:

  • I currently have MOSS 2007 server with backend on SQL 2005, which also acts as the SSRS server.  In addition I have another SQL 2005 server where business data resides and against which most of the SSRS reports run.
  • Future plan (over which I don't really have a say) is MOSS 2007 with backend on SQL 2008, which will remain to be the SSRS server.  The second SQL server with business data will be migrated to SQL 2008 R2.

Questions: does this architecture requires SSRS 2008 add-in or SSRS 2008 R2 add-in (integrated mode)?  Will there be an issue of building SSRS 2008 reports that go after SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 data mix?

Moss 2007 and Server 2008 R2 Forest

I am not sure if this should go to the AD forums but I wanted to verify the compatibility of MOSS 2007 with a Server 2008 R2 forest and domain funtional level. We are looking to upgrade our AD environment to Server 2008 R2.

Any inisght would be greatly appreciated.

What compatibility issues present with MOSS 2007 and Office 2010?

We have been running MOSS 2007 for a year now and recently upgraded office workstations to Office 2010.  I am trying to research what compatibility issues might be experienced with this match of products.  Thank you for any examples.

Accessing Active Directory with SQL 2008

I've searched the forum, as was unable to come up with a solution.

How can I access my Active Directory using SQL 2008?

I've tried running Import and Export Data but "OLE DB provider for microsoft directory services" isn't even listed as an option. Do I need to install something extra?

Thanks in advance

Moving MOSS 2007 from 2x Dedicated servers to 1x VM - Migration Tutorials?

Greetings all,

We're recently phased out our MOSS 2007 environment (after migrating to MOSS 2010), and need to reclaim the servers from our 2007 install. However, we need to provide access to the old 2007 environment for 9-12 months more.

So, my plan is to migrate the Content DB and FE from their split-environment (two server) solution into a single VM that we can power up when needed.

Knowing that there are a great number of quality tutorials in existence for MOSS 2007, I wonder if someone might recommend tutorials/posts they've found useful for migrating the Content DB and/or FE (this is similar to a disaster-recovery situation in which the FE and DB are rebuilt, no?), beyond the TechNet articles on the matter.

Thanks for your help!

moving from Visual Studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. Will be on MOSS 2007 for next year at least.

Most of my web servers are 64 bit.

At this new shop I don't have any custom visual Studio 2005 compiled workflows or sharePoint solutions.  What I do have is a few DLLs we've deployed manually to the Web front ends in the 12 hive,  And a few low volume non-sharepoint websites I've deployed with the source - because I knew I'd be moving to 2010 very soon.

What's the risk of moving my development client to 2010? Can I have 2005 and 2010 on the same client? Does 2010 have an option for compiling to 2005 compatibility?

What happens if I compile those solutions (as is) in vs 2010 and deploy?  Does something special need to be installed in SharePoint or my web servers to support VS2010 compiled solutions?

BTW, how smooth is the 2005 to 2005 code coversion (if any) process. Can I open 2005 projects/solutions in 2010?

Workflow with instantiation form in VS 2008 for MOSS 2007

Guys. I have a MOSS 2007 install, using VS 2008.

I am trying to create a workflow in VS that simply does the following:

On Start, goes to an instantiation form. This collects one field of data. When this is submitted, the workflow updates a couple of fields, then finished. Sounds easy huh.... It sure is in SPD, but in VS it isn't so easy. I am also following Robert Shelton's blogs on this (if you have seen them).

So I have my workflow project, and for the pages, am putting them in their own folder  in the LAYOUTS within 12 hive.

I am getting an error of

Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at InstantiationForm_InstantiationForm.serializeInstantiationFormDataToXML() , but I can't debug it (even when attaching to W3WP.exe).

My aspx page code:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"

Windows Server 2008 32 and 64bit and Active Directory

By any chance do you if it is recommended to have Sharepoint 2010 and
Active Directory on the same windows 2008 server? Or they have to be on separate servers?

Also, do you know if Windows 2008 32 bit have any conflict communicating
with Windows server 2008 64bit?

Utilizing Entity Framework 4.0 in MOSS 2007 with Visual Studio 2008

I am trying to create a webpart using VSeWSS 1.3 in VS 2008 and utilize Entity Framework 4.0 .

I am able to do it in .NET 3.5 but i am unable to create a 4.0 solution in VS 2008 to replicate steps for 4.0 .

Can this be done, if yes then how?

Your help will be really appreciated.
