Hi All,

I am getting following error message while splitting sharepoint content databases using stsadm mergecontentdb command.

" The sqltransaction has completed; it is no longer usable "

For Information:

  • I am using SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise with Service Pack 2 updated (Version: 12.0.6425.1000) and SQL Server 2005 Enterprise with Service Pack 3 updated. Also I have enough space on my DB server for my content databases.

Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

MergeContentDbs Error: : This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable

I am running a MOSS 2007 farm with a large (378 GB) content database. I am running through various splitting scenarios so that I have multiple Db's instead of just one large one.  Using mergecontentdb's works fine for site collections up to 2GB, but any site collection larger gets the following error: : This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.   After that, the site is no longer browseable.  Fortunately this is my test bed, but it does not bode well for splitting up the larger site collections.   Any help is greatly appreciated.   DaleDale

"Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try ..."

i have a problem with search function where everytime i search any file/doc the error message "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information." occurred. I realized that there are items in central admin but it is "not available" in my site. I already follow several guides that had been provided in this forum but still the same. Even, i already create new SSP and configure the search scope, content source and also crawling.

FYI, i used Microsoft Sharepoint 2007.

Hope anyone could help me to solve this problem. Thanks.

NUnit debugging no longer working

I moved from VS2008 running on XP 32 bit to VS2010 running on Win7 64 bit and just noticed that I can't debug in NUnit like I used to.

On my old system, I just went to Debug|Attach to Process, chose NUnit.exe, and ran my tests from the NUnit GUI. VS2008 would stop at the breakpoints just as normal.

Now when I try this using NUnit on the new configuraiton it just skips over my breakpoints. Any help would be great.

How to determine when the cube refresh has completed?

I'm trying run code after a cube refresh is completed, but I can't seem to figure out how to write code to determine when the cube refresh has been completed. If it were a simple calculation, I could use the code below to determine the "calculation state", but there doesn't seem to be "refresh state" that I'm aware of. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!! Application.CalculationState = xlDone

Create longer than 4 characters Soundex Code

Hi all, Does anyone know if it is possible to create a soundex key that is longer than the standard 4 characters? I guess if it doesn't then you just have to create a user defined function? I'm trying to do address matching on a table of customers 3 million records. I was thinking of embarking on full text search if it is not possible. Anyone with any advice always gratefully received. Cheers Ant

Dealing with a databound DDL inside formview when SelectedValue no longer exists

Hi forum heros!  I have a page that has a formview on it.  Client info, name, address, usual stuff.  The formview is populated by a DataSource, that calls a SQL stored procedure for the client info.  It all works great. Within the formview, I have a dropdownlist for the Staff assigned to the client (StaffId is a member of the Client record called during the Formview binding).  When the formview is in Item mode, the Staff name appears in a label, when in Edit mode, the dropdownlist is bound and populated by another DataSource that calls a stored procedure of ActiveStaff. When the assigned staff exists, the StaffId is correctly bound to the DDL SelectedValue and the current staff name appears selected in the DDL when in edit mode, as it should. So here's the problem: Staff quit and become inactive.  So when the client record is pulled up, the StaffId (bound from the Formview) is no longer in the ActiveStaff list (used in the DDL) and the DropDownList bind fails (loudly - not sure why it couldn't just fail to zero, but there you go). Anyway, I know how to check for whether a record exists and manually bind dropdownlists that are outside formviews, but is it even possible within a formview? Any direction here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

processing measure group : memory error : the operation cannot be completed because the memory quota

Hi, I'm stucked with this problem. Untill last week, the cube processed without any problem. Since last week, I'm getting this error. I have been searching in different forums, and I tried some suggestions, like changing memory limit properties, ... It is getting worse.. So I reset all properties to default again. I am running SQL-Server + MS-AS 2005 SP2 on server with 4GB of memory. This is a dedicated server, nothing else is running on it. The fact table has +/- 14 million records, several dimensions en 2 measure groups. I don't have problems to process the dimensions, but when I try to process the cube or the measure groups of that cube separately , the error persists. I have changed the datasource view, and replaced the fact table by a Named query. Even when I put a 'WHERE datapart( year , fact_date ) >= 2009 ' clause to reduce the number of records to +/- 5 million, I'm still getting the error. I don't understand what is wrong, the cube always processed since +/- 2 years. As I said, I have found a lot of this kind of Issues on different websites, I have been trying to change some properties. But this still does not solve the problem. Could it be that MS-AS settings are corrupt somewhere ? Is it a good idea to re-install MS-AS 2005 + SP1 + SP2 ? Or is there another reason possible ? I really appreciate any kind of help, because I'm

Central Administration no longer accessible by any account after changing Farm Account in SharePoint

I have a problem, that I no longer can access Central Administration Website, only the Sharepoint itself. I was running installation of Sharepoint 2010 Server with administrative account ImTheAdmin, who is a Domain Admin in the MYDOMAIN domain. Using ImTheAdmin I installed Sharepoint 2010 on one of the Windows 2008 R2 member servers. Besides that, I made ImTheAdmin the primary administrator of the Sharepoint. ImTheAdmin became the only user of this Sharepoint 2010 server after installation.  I installed everything on one box with default installation settings. I used builtin SQL server, not Standard or Enterprise. What then happened is: Using ImTheAdmin account, I opened Central Administration Website, and it said, that I need to change the Farm Account, as the account for Farm was the default one (I think it was network service). So I created a regular domain user in AD Users and Computers called MYDOMAIN\SPFarmAccount. Then using IE, I went to the Central Administration Website page, which is meant for changing farm account usernames. I put in MYDOMAIN\SPFarmAccount down in to the form of Central Administration Website, added the check mark, that it would react to password changes, and pressed Change. Browser worked for a while, and after that nothing seemed to work. Neither my Sharepoint, nor Central Administration website. When going to Central Administra

NerdDinner MVC tutorial, map not positioning correctly like completed MVC sample

I have been studying the NerdDinner MVC tutorial for the past week, and I am at step 11 - the part where  adding a Map is introduced.  I have been following the instructions as closely as possible, and I am at the part Integrating the Map with Create and Edit Forms The tutorial runs the sample app at this point and displays how the map should look -- this part being "Host A Dinner".  In the completed sample (which runs correctly for me) the map displays to the right side of the textboxes of Create.aspx, in some kind of container.  But in the sample I am building - per the tutorial - the map displays in the upper left corner of the page, and the container (for the map) displays below the  textboxes on my Create.aspx -- as per the image here:   I tried stepping through the code in the completed sample, but I was not able to see how the map is positioned in the page.  Any suggesions how to fix this problem -- how to position the map correctly on the page -- how to control the positioning of the map -- would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

MVC2 NerdDinner - Data no longer saves after adding ViewModel

I am writing this post to document some issues I ran into, and hopefully help anybody else who gets stuck in the same place.  I am creating the NerdDinner application via the Professional ASP.NET MVC 2 book,  and once I got to the ViewModel part (pages 88-91), I noticed none of my data was saving any longer.  I discovered several errors and areas of confusion in these pages of the book, which I will list now. Page 88:  When it says to add the DinnerFormViewModel class, it doesn't say what folder to add it to.  On page 89, the Inherits example (NerdDinner.Controllers.DinnerFormViewModel) implies it was added to the Controllers folder, but if that were so, the code on page 88 would need to use Models.Dinner instead of just Dinner.  No big deal; just put it in Models and change the Inherit statement on page 89 to use NerdDinner.Models.DinnerFormViewModel. Page 89:  At the bottom of the page is some wrong code.  Since the properties of Dinner are now one level deeper, all references to m.Title, m.Country, etc, need to be m.Dinner.Title, m.Dinner.Country, etc.  The statements above the code are also incorrect ("Notice... we are not changing the names of the input elements... the form elements will still be named...") -- the form elements will actually change from "Title", "Country&quo

Hi All: We have installed SQL Server 2008 Integration Services in a Windows 2003 machine. RAM capacity is 4GB We have a created a sample project with necessary data source, data view, cubes and dimension definition. We even tried with data view of few columns but encountering the same error. How to fix this issue? Please help Regards, Swami

VBA application can no longer access SQL Server

For a not-for-profit organization (www.ace-event.org ), I developed a simple MS Word application. Basically, upon opening the app, it accesses data on a remote SQL Server to populate a form, which is then used to generate a document. I used www.ConnectionStrings.com to help configure the DSN-less connection. The application, which was developed in April 2009 under XP Pro and Office 2003 ran perfectly through Jan 2010. The reason for my posting should be obvious – the application no longer runs. I have tried running it on three different computer with XP Pro/Office 2003, XP Pro/Office 2007, and Win7/Office 2010 respectively. In all cases, I get the error: Run-time error ‘-2147467259 (80004005)’: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I cannot be 100% certain that the error code returned was the same in each case. I am, however, 100% certain that the code is completely identical to that which ran previously and that the error occurs before any network access occurs. Here is the connection string code:     Set cn = New ADODB.Connection     cn.ConnectionString = "Driver={SQL Native Client};Server=<ip_address>\sqlexpress,1433;Database=<db_name>;Uid=<UID>;Pwd=<PWD>"     cn.CursorLocation = adUseClient     cn.Open I have

Background worker - errors in completed event

Create a new windows forms project (in using vb.net 2010). Create a button and a background worker on the form. Under the Debug > Exceptions menu, make sure that for 'Common Language Runtime Exceptions' you have 'Thrown' unticked and 'User-unhandled' ticked. Now put the following code in the form's code-behind; Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click BackgroundWorker1.RunWorkerAsync() End Sub Private Sub BackgroundWorker1_DoWork(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles BackgroundWorker1.DoWork Threading.Thread.Sleep(2000) End Sub Private Sub BackgroundWorker1_RunWorkerCompleted(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs) Handles BackgroundWorker1.RunWorkerCompleted Dim X As Integer X = 5 / X End Sub End Class Why does it not error nicely? It comes up with no helpful stack trace and just says 'Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.'. Place the code to cause the error into the Button_Click event and run it and you will see the difference. Why do we not get these 'nice' errors given that the runworkercompleted event is supposed to be running on the main thread?
