Problem hosting .NET build ActiveX Control in existing VB6 ActiveX control

Hi all,

After struggling several days with this it's time to find some help.

I'm developing for a third party application that supports a modular design by hosting custom ActiveX Controls in an ActiveX Control Container (basically a Tab control with each hosted control on its own tab).
An ActiveX Control build with VB6 with no added code shows up just fine, but I don't want to use VB6, I want to use a .NET UserControl which exposes itself as an ActiveX Control. I successfully created a class library project with a Windows Forms User Control, which is exposed to COM as a control. With some extra registry entries, the control even shows up in the VB6 designer. If I create a small VB6 test application with my .NET control on the form, it shows up just fine.

The problem is that nothing is painted on the tab control, if I add my control to the third party software. The UserControl constructor is called (twice), but that's it. When I switch tabs, the information from the previous tab stays visible, so no Draw() operations are executed at all.

I have read some articles that anything else but Internet Explorer is not supported for hosting ActiveX controls build in .NET but I'm not sure if this is still true.

I hope there is a solution to get this to work in .NET, otherwise I would have to switch to C++ (which

Hosting Problem

I have a situation where I'm trying to host a wcf service on a server. It works fine, but when I navigate to the WSDL, it returns the wrong address/domain name in the wsdl:import namespace location tag. It's returning a public 174.x.x.x address. I really want it to return the private 10.x.x.x address in this tag. Is it something I can fix in the endpoint? Here's the endpoint definition:

        <endpoint address="http://localhost:3080/olpws_test/proctorservice.svc" binding="basicHttpBinding" contract="WcfService3.ProctorService" bindingNamespace="WcfService3">

.NET problem - no text appears when not running under hosting process

I have the most annoying problem with .NET Framework 4 (both full and Client Profile).

Basically, when I debug my application under the hosting process (vshost), the problem doesn't occur. I've found it only when I ran the .exe directly from it's location, and now I see that it happens when I debug it as well, but not under hosting process.

The problem is that I cannot see any text inside the labels, inside message-boxs (even the Yes-No text from the buttons has dissapered), from buttons or text-boxs, it simply dissapears.

I tried creating a new .NET Framework 4 project, and the problem didn't appear. So I decided to re-create my application from scratch (almost from scratch). I've created a new solution file, new project files and included the .cs and .resx files from my previous solution. The problem persisted.

Interesting thing is though, that on my first solution I've changed the configuration platform to 'Any CPU' from 'x86', and the problem then appeared in either cases (even while running under the hosting process).

I wrote the app in VS2010. I am running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, SP1.

ASP.Net Caching problem ??

I'm having a problem with an asp.net 3.0 application using a gridview to display data.  The problem seems to be that despite a brand new .selectCommand being sent to the sqlDataSource, the gridview starts displaying data from *someone else's* query.  For example, user A is logged in and will be working fine until a few page submissions later when the gridview data starts suddenly showing information that belongs to another user.

This is my first asp.net application, though I've been working with classic asp and ADO for years so I'm used to sending a SQL string and getting back the results from that string.  Apparently there is a complex caching system which is interferring which I do not at all understand so at this point I just want to stop the server from caching any data whatsoever.  Is this possible?

Any and all help will be much appreciated!!

Could some one tell me whats the Problem with this String Manipulation ??? C#.net

I store some values from code behind to a label which is Hidden !

<asp:Label ID="lbl_Hidden" runat="server" Visible = "false"></asp:Label>

and at the page load event i retrieve the value of the label & assign it to a string !

stringvalue = lbl_Hidden.Text;

Now i dont know why this manipulation does'nt work !

I've a character 'A' in the string and i'm unable to replace it with a space !

stringvalue.Replace(A, " ");

Wot do u think abt it ????

RaiseEvent problem

I have a parent page ProdView.aspx and two static UserControls, UC1 and UC2. Each UC is in an Ajax accordion pane and the accordion inside an updatepanel.

UC1 has a Gridview footer with couple of textboxes and a link button that fires an Add Row insert procedure. I want to Raise an event that will rebind the UC2 after the row insert in UC1.

First I created the sub delegate and event in UC1:

  • Public Delegate Sub MyRefresh(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As CommandEventArgs)
  • Public Event Refresh_UC1 As MyRefresh

In the same UC1 the Insert procedure that fires the insert and RaiseEvent:

Sub PricingGrid_Insert(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
       Dim myConn As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("LocalSqlServer").ConnectionString)
       Dim myCom As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand("AddRow", myConn)
       myCom.CommandText = "AddRow"
       myCom.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure

Gridview Enable Selection Problem

I have a gridview with Enable selection and Enable Paging equals to TRUE.

I also set the PageSize of my gridview to 4 so that I only displays 4 rows per page.

The problem is when I click the pager in the bottom of my gridview, my gridview is disappearing and no records appear.

Here is code behind of my gridview:

If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then
                e.Row.Attributes("style") = "cursor:pointer"

                e.Row.Cells(2).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(3).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(4).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(5).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(6).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
