How to generate report from RPL file

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have Integrated my Reporting service 2008 R2 with Sharepoint foundation 2010. I have created few reports. For one of the report I have setup a subscription. Type of subscription set is RPL Renderer.

Once this subscription was executed, I can see RPL file in my Sharepoint document library. Now the question is what to do with this RPL file. How can I generate Report from this RPL file.

I checked that Neither Report viewer control nor Report builder accepts this RPL file.

I also could not find much help over RPL renderer on Internet.

Migrated from Windows 2000 ASP.NET 1.1 to Windows 2003, ASP.NET 2.0 and had this error. All the forums/MSDN/Blogs says to give Read/Write Access to C:\Windows\Temp folder. Why should we give Full Access to some folder in Production server?? In windows 2000, ASP.NET 2.0 development machine, no files are created when we run crystal reports from aspx pages. Then why in Windows 2003 servers, we need to give rights to temp folder?? It is a simple code

And the code is not storing anything on the disk. Then why should it store the GUID.rpt file in Temp file in Windows 2003 server?? Any alternative is there not to store anything on the disk when Crystal Reports are opened in aspx page??

.Net 4 - Generate dump file, improved debuging

Hi, For the system we are developing, we need to be able to generate a crash dump file in case things go bad. The application is being implemented using .Net 4 C# WPF. In the past (.Net 3.5) we were using a number of methods from the "dbghelp.dll" and "kernel32.dll" unmanaged dlls in order to generate a crash dump and WinDbg in order to investigate it. I was wondering if .Net 4 (and Visual Studio 2010) brought anything that would help us stay away from unmanaged code and make the dump file investigation easier (especially when multithreading operations are involved). Any suggestions and links would be appreciated. Thank you for your time, Cristian

How to put text from an external text file into a text box on a report.

Hi all, We're moving from our legacy reporting app to SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 and I'm converting our reports slowly but surely.  In our organization, one of our departments sends out letters that have standard marketing messages and disclaimers that they put into .rtf files.  Currently, our reporting application has an RTF box control that can do that fairly easily.  I've not found a similar control in SSRS 2008.  My thought, then, was to use a piece of embedded code in the report to grab the necessary text from the file and reference it in the Value of a Placeholder (using a Code.<FunctionName>.ToString() statement) - using HTML tags for the necessary formatting for those files. I don't care if I have to convert the existing RTF files to HTML files to do this, that's not an issue.  The code I'd come up with is this:  Public Function GetTextFile(ByVal strFileName as String) As String Dim oFile as System.IO.File Dim oRead as System.IO.StreamReader oRead = oFile.OpenText(strFileName) GetTextFile = oRead.ReadToEnd() End Function And the Expression I was using to get the text from the file is:  =Code.GetTextFile("HTMLTest.txt").ToString() Where "HTMLTest.txt" is the file name that I'm using.  The text itself is just a line of text with some HTML tags included for formatting - bold, color,

generate file

Hi, i want to generate a word file in a particular pre defined format ( if i can refer to some template) and some of the data in that format will be populated dynamically. Can anyone help me with possible ways.

I need a for to submit to SQL DB then generate and email report.

Hi Everyone,   I am new to the forums as well as new to asp.net as well as most programming languages.  I am needing to develope a page for a website where customers can fill in a form on the page and click submit.  I would like the form data to be inserted into a fresh brand new SQL DB.  I then want the data from each customer to be turned into some sort of file (ie PDF or just a form) and emailed to a specific user as the user hits the submit button to submit their information.   Is there an easy way to do this or is this something that should be handled by a few different methods or software or languages?  Any and all scenerios and information is greatly appreciated!   Thank you,   Wesley Sothard

Three subreports in a main report(RDLC file)

Hi All, I have one main report(rdlc file) which contains three subreports(mapped to three different rdlc files). The functionality am working in is that in a button click(with parameter passing) the main report loads. The main report contains three columns which is of type link. Each column is mapped to a subreport. Once the link in a column is clicked the main report along with the respective subreport should get displayed. Again, if the link field of another column of the main report is clicked, the main report and its respective subreport should open and the previously opened subreport for the other column should not show. The visibility of the Subreports must change according to the click of the link in the main report. I have declared SubReportProcessingEvent as a sub report processing handler shown below. AddHandler rvCompareLabels.LocalReport.SubreportProcessing, AddressOf SubReportProcessingEvent Public Sub SubReportProcessingEvent(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As SubreportProcessingEventArgs) End Sub I understand that in this method i have to do the code behind for displaying the subreports. But am confused as to how can i identify which link is being clicked and how am i supposed to add the datasource  for the subreport that should open. How will i give the condition such that  for the link that is clicked only the subreport mapped to that link opens.

Execute a SSRS Report from CRM using URL to output to PDF with a specific file name

We have a CRM installation from which I am trying to do some reports which use the CRMAF filters so the reports are sensitive to entitiy selections.

eg execute a sales report for a number of selected accounts.

The specific RDLs have been created in VS2008 and uploaded to the reporting server via the Report import tools within CRM and all work as expected however the output of the report is in HTML via the web browser.

I have changed the configuration of the report in CRM so that it uses the URL method like below so that the report is rendered into PDF which is great.

This method prompts for the user to open/save the PDF file which is acceptable however I would like to replace the default file name (which is the report name) with one of my own.

For example rather

Could not generate configuration file error

I am trying to create an xml configuration file for a very simple SSIS package, but I get an error "Could not generate configuration file."

While creating the config file using the Package configuration wizard, I do get an error saying "The properties tree could not be initialized" for one of the steps. I am sure this is somehow related to not being able to create the config file. The package was created on test server 01 and then copied to test server 02. When trying to create a new configuration file, I am getting this above error. I searched others who had similar questions. I am not using any user variables that store objects either. I am just storing the connection strings in the xml file.

Can someone please help?

Thank you
